Post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) includes the subacute, symptomatic phase 4-12 weeks after acute COVID-19 as well as the subsequent chronic post-COVID-19 period. PACS is associated with various general symptoms and organ (pulmonary, cardiovascular, neuropsychiatric, endocrine, musculoskeletal, dermatological, renal) manifestations. In this summary, we review the pathogenetic and risk factors leading to the development of PACS. We present the clinical picture and diagnostics. PACS should usually be managed by the general practitioner. The management of PACS includes pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment, multidisciplinary rehabilitation and regular follow-ups. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified to regulate cancers by controlling the process of autophagy and by mediating the post-transcriptional and transcriptional regulation of autophagy-related genes. Selleck CDK inhibitor This study aimed to investigate the potential prognostic role of autophagy-associated lncRNAs in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.

LncRNA expression profiles and the corresponding clinical information of CRC patients were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Based on the TCGA dataset, autophagy-related lncRNAs were identified by Pearson correlation test. Univariate Cox regression analysis and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis (LASSO) Cox regression model were performed to construct the prognostic gene signature. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to further clarify the underlying molecular mechanisms.

We obtained 210 autophagy-related genes from the whole dataset and found 1187 lncRNAs that were correlated with the autophagy-related genes. Using Univariate and LASSO Cox regression analyses, eight lncRNAs were screened to establish an eight-lncRNA signature, based on which patients were divided into the low-risk and high-risk group. Patients' overall survival was found to be significantly worse in the high-risk group compared to that in the low-risk group (log-rank p = 2.731E-06). ROC analysis showed that this signature had better prognostic accuracy than TNM stage, as indicated by the area under the curve. Furthermore, GSEA demonstrated that this signature was involved in many cancer-related pathways, including TGF-β, p53, mTOR and WNT signaling pathway.

However, the functions of PIWIs in crustaceans remain unknown. In the present study, we identified three Piwis from the testis of Eriocheir sinensis (E. sinensis). Three Piwi genes encoded proteins with typical features of PIWI subfamilies and were highly expressed in the testis. Three PIWIs could be detected in the cytoplasm of spermatocytes and spermatids, while in spermatozoa, we could only detect PIWI1 and PIWI3 in the nucleus. The knockdown of PIWIs by dsRNA significantly affected the formation of the nuclei in spermatozoa, which resulted in deviant and irregular nuclei. PIWI defects significantly inhibited the apoptosis of abnormal germ cells through the caspase-dependent apoptosis pathway and p53 pathway. Knockdown of PIWIs inhibited the expression of caspase (Casp) 3, 7, 8, and p53 without affecting Bcl2 (B-cell lymphoma gene 2), Bax (B-cell lymphoma-2-associated X), and BaxI (B-cell lymphoma-2-associated X inhibitor), which further significantly increased abnormal spermatozoa in the knockdown-group crabs. These results show a new role of PIWI proteins in crustaceans that is different from that in mammals. By using the measurement in ultrasound, a previous study demonstrated that subcutaneous nitroglycerin injection at the radial artery puncture site dilated the radial artery, and that a patch was also easier and less invasive. The current case suggests the applicability of a nitroglycerin transdermal patch to prevent vasospasm via local transdermal absorption into the arterial wall; its use may lead to a higher success rate for the transradial approach, especially in patients who had experienced radial artery vasospasm.IVC stenosis is a rare complication of bicaval orthotopic heart transplant. In this case, the OCT catheter was advanced over the guidewire, which was probably passed through a proximal malapposed stent strut. The outcomes of treating coronary artery disease (CAD) in very small vessels <2.25 mm are sparse. The present study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of the Resolute Onyx 2.0 mm drug-eluting stent (DES) (Medtronic) with the Onyx 2.25 mm DES for the treatment of CAD.

We retrospectively evaluated patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for CAD involving Onyx 2.0 mm DES (Onyx 2.0 group) and Onyx 2.25 mm DES (Onyx 2.25 group) in the 2 consecutive years from November 2016 to November 2018. Major adverse cardiac and cerebral event (MACCE) rate, defined as all-cause mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, and repeat revascularization for target-lesion failure, was reported.

A total of 152 subjects with 160 lesions were enrolled. The baseline demographics, lesion characteristics, and procedural results between the two groups were similar. The lesions were significantly shorter (P<.01), fewer stents were consequently deployed (P=.04), and the total stent length was shorter (P<.01) in the Onyx 2.0 group vs the Onyx 2.25 group. At a median follow-up of 673 days, MACCE rate did not differ significantly between the two groups. Multivariate analysis identified the presence of atrial fibrillation, chronic kidney disease, and the use of statins to be independently associated with MACCE.

Our data suggest that the use of the Onyx 2.0 mm DES to treat CAD in very small vessels (<2.25 mm) is feasible and safe, and the clinical outcomes were similar to those of the Onyx 2.25 mm group.
