To report efficacy and safety measures of the XEN45 gel stent at 36 months in the UK National Health Service setting.
Retrospective non-comparative audit of the records of patients who underwent XEN45 implantation between June 2015 and May 2017 was performed. Main outcome measures were intraocular pressure and number of antihypertensive medications used. Failure was defined as need for further surgery or stent removal. Success was defined as a 20% decrease in intraocular pressure without the need for additional glaucoma medications or a reduction in antihypertensive medications without an increase in baseline intraocular pressure. Needling rates and preoperative factors effect were assessed.
The cohort included 205 patients (205 eyes) with primary open angle glaucoma (84.4%), angle closure glaucoma (7.8%), or refractory glaucoma (7.8%), 62.9% had a stand-alone procedure and 37.1%, a combined phaco-XEN45 procedure. Mean intraocular pressure was 22.6 ± 7.0 mmHg at baseline compared to 14.7 ± 3.8 mmHg at 24 months and 14.0 ± 2.9 mmHg at 36 months (
< 0.001 for both). Mean number of medications used was 2.6 ± 1.1 at baseline compared to 0.5 ± 0.9 and 0.6 ± 1.0, at 24- and 36-months, respectively (
< 0.001 for both). The failure rate at 36 months was 25%. Needling was required in 36.6%. Evaluation of background factors yielded an increased failure rate in non-Caucasians compared to Caucasians (74% vs 21%,
< 0.001).
XEN45 implantation is effective and safe at 36 months' follow-up. Patients should be advised regarding the risk of failure and possible need for bleb revisions. Careful patient selection may be required.

This article aims to examine the disparities in dental service utilization among 3 age groups younger adults (20-49 y), middle-aged adults (50-64 y), and older adults (65+ y), among Whites, Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, American Indians or Alaska Natives (AIAN), and Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islanders (NHOPI).
Weighted logistic regression models were conducted to analyze 9 waves of cross-sectional survey data (2002-2018) from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. We estimated age group- and race/ethnic-specific prevalences of dental service utilization adjusting sociodemographics and self-rated health for each wave and compared with crude analysis. Next, we performed linear regression analysis of the trend of adjusted prevalences over time and the average level by race/ethnicity and age groups.
Racial/ethnic disparities increased with age, even though the adjusted prevalences of dental service utilization were less apparent than the crude analysis. Caesarean section (CS) is a medical intervention performed in Norway when a surgical delivery is considered more beneficial than a vaginal. Because deliveries with higher risk are centralized to larger hospitals, use of CS varies considerably between hospitals. We describe how the use of CS varies geographically by municipality. Since indications for CS should have little variation across the relatively homogenous population of Norway, we expect fair use of CS to be evenly distributed across the municipalities.
Data from the Medical Birth Registry of Norway were used in our analyses (810,914 total deliveries, 133,746 CSs, 440 municipalities). We propose a spatial correlation model that takes the location into account to describe the variation in use of CS across the municipalities. The R packages R-INLA and TMB are used to estimate the yearly municipal CS rate and the spatial correlation between the municipalities. We also apply stratified models for different categories of delivering women (Robson groups). Estimated rates are displayed in maps and model parameters are shown in tables.
The CS rate varies substantially between the different municipalities. As expected, there was strong correlation between neighbouring municipalities. Similar results were found for different Robson groups.

Data were collected through the Population Study of Chinese Elderly, including survey information of 3,157 older adults in the Greater Chicago area. Regression results showed that the odds of getting vaccinated were higher for those who were older, female, and had higher education and income. After adjusting for the covariates, higher TIP was associated with greater immunization service use. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/raptinal.html The highest tertile of TIP was associated with higher odds of using immunization service (OR 2.19, 95% CI [1.76, 2.72]), especially for flu and pneumonia vaccines. Findings suggests that immunization service use may be increased by improving TIP and promoting targeted health care management plans for racial/ethnic minorities, which is highly relevant to increase the vaccination rate and contain the pandemic as the COVID-19 vaccine is available.
