The aims of this study were (1) to describe adherence to oral chemotherapy among colorectal cancer patients on different courses of chemotherapy, and (2) to explore the associated factors with oral chemotherapy adherence in colorectal cancer patients.

This investigation was a longitudinal study. We selected a convenience sample of 132 patients with colorectal cancer. We finished a six-month follow-up investigation by a questionnaire at different stages of chemotherapy.

The percentage of colorectal cancer patients who had poor overall oral chemotherapy adherence was 71.4%, and adherence declined over the course of chemotherapy. According to a logistic regression analysis, whether the patients lived with their parents, job status during chemotherapy and their health benefits were related to oral chemotherapy adherence.

This study showed that overall oral chemotherapy adherence among Chinese colorectal cancer patients was poor, especially during the last stage of chemotherapy, and adherence showed a downward trend during chemotherapy. The adherence could be improved by interventions related to family, work and patients' perception of oral chemotherapy.

To systematically evaluate evidence regarding the unmet supportive care needs of men affected by penile cancer and their partners to create a holistic model of care and inform clinical practice guidelines.

We searched CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsychINFO, Embase, and the Cochrane Library (CCRT and CDSR) controlled trials databases and clinicaltrial.gov from 1990 to April 2020. This review was reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement.

18 articles were included, reporting the results from 17 studies. Included reports used qualitative (seven studies) and survey (ten studies). Across these studies, men reported that the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of penile cancer affected physical, psychological and sexual well-being with each facet impacting and being intertwined with the other at varying degrees. There was varying complexity of unmet needs in men and partners pre-surgery, post-surgery and into survivorship.

Moderate evidence exists that men affected by penile cancer experience a range of unmet supportive care needs across the international literature. Further work to evaluate the impact of penile cancer on partners is required.

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease treated with immunosuppressive agents, thrombopoietin receptor agonists, immunomodulation drugs and/or splenectomy. Patients with ITP have been found to have increased risk ofhematological malignancies. Studies investigating stomach/liver cancer are contradictory and the risk of developing other solid tumors is largely unknown. We aimed at estimating risk of overall and organ-specific cancers in patients with primary ITP.

The study population was Swedish patients with at least one ITP diagnosis recorded in the National Patient Register and a 110 matched comparison cohort from the population. The study period covers 1997-2016. The Cancer Register and the Cause of Death Register provided data on malignancies and deaths, respectively. Primary ITP was identified using an established algorithm. We used time-split Cox models to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) with 95 % confidence intervals (CIs), adjusted for age, sex, index-year, county, income, education, Chated with ITP or its treatments. Treating hematologists need to have high index of suspicion for cancer.
Persons with Lynch syndrome (LS) have an increased risk of developing colorectal tumors (CRTs). Adherence to diet quality indices associated with colorectal cancer (CRC) risk in the general population has not been studied before in LS.

Dietary habits of 490 participants with LS from a prospective cohort study was collected using a food frequency questionnaire. The Dutch Healthy Diet index 2015 (DHD15-index) and Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) were used to score food-based diet quality. Diet quality scores were divided into tertiles where a higher tertile reflects a higher diet quality. Multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to estimate the association between the DHD15-index, DASH score and CRT risk.

During a median follow-up time of 53.4 months, 210 participants (42.9%) developed CRTs. The DHD-index and DASH score were not associated with CRT risk; hazard ratios for highest vs. lowest tertile were 1.00 (95% Confidence Interval (CI) 0.67-1.48) and 1.11 (95% CI 0.74-1.69), respectively. No linear trends across the DHD-index and DASH score tertiles were observed (P-trend = 0.97 and 0.83 respectively).

In contrast to observations in the general population, no evidence for an association between the food-based DHD15-index or DASH score and CRT risk was observed in persons with LS. Further studies are needed investigating the association between diet quality and mechanisms leading to the development of LS-associated tumors.

In this review, we summarized the mechanically and chemically robust anti-biofouling coatings into six strategies namely (i) 3D-grafted coatings, (ii) hierarchical spheres-based coatings, (iii) inorganic nanomaterials-reinforced coatings, (iv) hydrolysis-based coating, (v) semi-interpenetrating structure-based coatings, and (vi) layer-by-layer (LbL) assembled coatings. When infection occurs during pregnancy, it can produce severe congenital infection with ocular and neurologic damage to the infant. From the oral infection parasite reaches the intestine, causing inflammatory response, damage in tissue architecture and systemic dissemination. Macrophage migration inhibition factor (MIF) is a cytokine secreted from both immune and non-immune cells, including gut epithelial cells. MIF is described to promote inflammatory responses, to be associated in colitis pathogenesis and also to play role in maintaining the intestinal barrier. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the influence of the pregnancy and MIF deficiency on T. gondii infection in the intestinal microenvironment and to address how these factors can impact on the intestinal architecture and local cytokine profile. For this purpose, small intestine of pregnant and non-pregnant C57BL/6 MIF deficient mice (MIF-/-) a that the Th2/Treg response was more pronounced in MIF-/- mice. Altogether, our results demonstrated that pregnancy and MIF deficiency interferes in the balance of the intestinal cytokines and favors a Th1-immflamatory profile, which in turn, impact in the development of pathology caused by T. gondii infection in the intestinal microenvironment.
Published studies on association between IL12B (G/A) rs10045431, (T/C)rs6887695 polymorphisms and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) risk in Caucasian population have yielded conflicting results. The aim of this study was to potentially provide more reliable conclusions by conducting a meta-analysis.

Published studies concerned association between IL12B rs10045431, rs6887695 polymorphisms and IBD were searched from the Wiley Online Library, PubMed, Web of Science and the CNKI database. The odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated to evaluate the strength of the relationship. The false positive report probabilities (FPRPs) test and trial sequential analysis (TSA) was performed to investigated the reliability of results.

A total of 20 studies comprising 10761 Crohn's disease (CD), 10921 ulcerative colitis (UC) and 18381 controls were included in this meta-analysis. Overall, the pooled results showed that IL12B rs6887695 polymorphism significantly increased both CD and UC risk under all model, while IL12B rs10045431 polymorphism dramatically decreased both CD and UC risk under all model. FPRP and TSA demonstrated that above associations was confirmed in the present study.
