We sought to determine if bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) measurements can accurately assess changes in breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) in patients undergoing lymphovenous bypass (LVB).

Patients undergoing LVB for BCRL refractory to conservative treatment from 1/2015 to 12/2018 were identified from an IRB-approved prospectively maintained database at a single institution. All breast cancer patients were assessed with baseline BIS measurements prior to any oncologic surgery and serial BIS during follow-up office visits including before and after LVB. Clinicopathologic information, LVB operative details, and pre- and post-LVB operative BIS measurements were collected. Analysis focused on clinically significant BIS change, defined as two standard deviations (SD), and comparing LVB anastomosis to BIS changes.

During the study timeframe, nine patients underwent LVB for treatment of BCRL. The majority (78%) received radiation, taxane chemotherapy, and underwent axillary dissection. An average of 5.6 Lbe reported as key objective data in future studies assessing BCRL interventions, including response to LVB.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is the standard of care for locally advanced HER2 + breast cancer (BC). Optimal sequencing of treatment (NAC vs. surgery first) is less clear cut in stage I (T1N0) HER2 + BC, where information from surgical pathology could impact adjuvant treatment decisions. Utilizing the NCDB, we evaluated the trend of NAC use compared to upfront surgery in patients with small HER2 + BC.

We identified NCDB female patients diagnosed with T1 N0 HER2 + BC from 2010 through 2015. Prevalence ratios (PR) using multivariable robust Poisson regression models were calculated to measure the association between baseline characteristics and the receipt of NAC. Analysis of trends over time was denoted by annual percent change (APC) of NAC versus surgery upfront.

Of the 14,949 that received chemotherapy and anti-HER2 therapy during the study period, overall 1281 (8.6%) received NAC and 13,668 (91.4%) received adjuvant treatment. Patients receiving NAC increased annually from 4.2% in 2010 to 17.3% in 2tent with secular change in Pertuzumab treatment following FDA approval in 2013.

) levels and potential delays in treatment with ovarian stimulation for fertility preservation (FP). The aim of this study was to compare recurrence and survival in breast cancer patients who pursued FP without concurrent letrozole to those who did not (non-FP).

We reviewed charts of women with breast cancer who contacted the FP patient navigator (PN) at Northwestern University from 01/2005-01/2018. Oncology and fertility outcome data were collected. Data were analyzed by Chi-square test or regression, as appropriate. Kaplan-Meier curves were used to examine breast cancer recurrence and survival. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS IBM Statistics 26.0 for Windows.

332 patients were included, of which 157 (47.3%) underwent FP. Median days to treatment after consulting the PN was 35 in the FP group and 21 in non-FP clinically significant. These findings are unique in that our institution does not use concomitant letrozole during stimulation to minimize E2 elevations in breast cancer patients.
The aim of the study was to perform digital RNA counting to validate a gene expression signature for operable breast cancers initially treated with curative intention, and the risk of recurrence, distant metastasis, and mortality was predicted.

Candidate genes were initially discovered from the coherent genomic and transcriptional alternations from microarrays, and the extended concurrent genes were used to build a risk stratification model from archived formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues with the NanoString nCounter.

To investigate the associations of four commonly studied single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), including -460T/C (rs833061), - 634G/C (rs2010963), - 2578C/A (rs699947), and +936T/C (rs3025039), with the incidence, aggressiveness, and tumor markers expression of breast cancer in the Northern China Han population.

Abemaciclib in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) has demonstrated significant efficacy benefits in HR+ , HER2- advanced breast cancer patients in the Phase 3 studies MONARCH 2 (fulvestrant as ET) and MONARCH 3 (letrozole or anastrozole as ET). Here, we report age-specific safety and efficacy outcomes.

Exploratory analyses of MONARCH 2 and 3 were performed for 3 age groups (<65, 65-74, and ≥75years). For safety, data were pooled from both studies; for efficacy, a subgroup analysis of PFS was performed for each trial independently.

Pooled safety data were available for 1152 patients. Clinically relevant diarrhea (Grade 2/3) was higher in older patients receiving abemaciclib + ET (<65, 39.5%; 65-74, 45.2%; ≥75, 55.4%) versus placebo + ET (<65, 6.8%; 65-74, 4.5%; ≥75, 16.0%).
