Recent advances in molecular techniques have allowed unprecedented molecular profiling of RCC and the discovery of genomic and proteotranscriptomic factors that may contribute to disease trajectory. With the advent of multiple systemic therapies in mRCC in recent years, predictive biomarkers have become increasingly relevant in treatment selection. In this review, we discuss the existing staging systems and prognostic models in mRCC. We also highlight various promising molecular biomarkers according to the subtypes of RCC and explore their integration into the traditional prognostic models. In addition, we discuss emerging predictive biomarkers in the era of immuno-oncology. Lastly, we explore future directions with a focus on liquid biopsies and composite biomarkers.

This study aims to objectively assess the hypertrophic response of the gluteal muscles after HIFEM treatments.

Seven subjects (40.00 ± 6.68 years) received 4, 30-minute HIFEM treatments of the buttocks. Magnetic resonance imaging of the pelvic region was obtained at baseline, 1-month, and 3-month follow-up to reconstruct 3D volumes of musculus gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus. Volumetric changes were calculated and statistically analyzed. Standardized photographs, weight measurements, patient satisfaction, treatment comfort, and adverse events were also documented.

Volumetric analysis revealed a significant increase (p = .001) in the size of the examined muscles at 1-month (+10.81 ± 1.60%) and 3-month (+13.23 ± 0.91%) follow-up. A more profound hypertrophic effect was seen in the upper buttock region. This translated into a visible buttock lifting, also captured by patient photography. Gluteal adipose tissue was insignificantly affected. Patients were satisfied, and they found the treatments comfortable. No adverse events were observed.

Foam sclerotherapy is a common treatment of lower extremity reticular veins. The effect of different liquid-gas ratios on foam stability and efficacy has been controversial.

To evaluate the use of 2 different polidocanol (POL) to air ratios for the treatment of reticular veins of the lower extremities.

Patients with lower extremity reticular veins were randomized to foam sclerotherapy with POL mixed with 4 mL of room air for one lower extremity or 2 mL for the other lower extremity. All telangiectasias were treated with glycerin immediately after treatment of the reticular veins. Adverse events (AEs) and efficacy were evaluated by both subject and blinded investigator.

Thirty subjects completed the study. No statistically significant difference was seen in AEs between the 2 different POL to air ratios by subject questionnaire and blinded investigator scores at all time points. Subjects and blinded investigator reported a mean improvement between 0% and 50% at Day 21 and 26% to 75% at Day 90, which was not significantly different between groups.
