The diffusion interaction parameter (kD ) has been demonstrated to be a high-throughput technique for characterizing interactions between proteins in solution. kD reflects both attractive and repulsive interactions, including long-ranged electrostatic repulsions. Here, we plot the mutual diffusion coefficient (Dm ) as a function of the experimentally determined Debye-Hückel-Henry surface charge (ZDHH ) for seven human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in 15 mM histidine at pH 6. We find that graphs of Dm versus ZDHH intersect at ZDHH, ~ 2.6, independent of protein concentration. The same data plotted as kD versus ZDHH show a transition from net attractive to net repulsive interactions in the same region of the ZDHH intersection point. These data suggest that there is a minimum surface charge necessary on these mAbs needed to overcome attractive interactions.
To investigate the efficacy and safety of antiviral drugs in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
All clinical trials of antiviral drug treatment for COVID-19 from December 2019 to December 2021 in CNKI, PubMed, Embase, Wanfang and VIP databases were searched by computer, and the results were systematically reviewed.
A total of 21 studies were included, including 5 randomized controlled studies, 5 non-randomized controlled studies, 3 retrospective cohort studies, 6 retrospective case series studies, and 2 observational studies, with a total of 2118 patients. The evaluated drugs included Ridzevir, Lopinavir/Ritonavir, Jingluwa, Fapiravi, Abidor, Danorivir, and interferon α. The evaluated antiviral drugs did not show superior efficacy for COVID-19 in clinical trials. In terms of safety, particular attention needs to be paid to the gastrointestinal side effects of lopinavir/ritonavir and the serious side effects of redsivir.

Perioperative prophylaxis, commonly with a third-generation cephalosporin plus ampicillin or piperacillin-tazobactam, is usually employed to prevent infections in liver transplantation (LT) recipients. Patients with a high Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score have an increased infection risk after LT. However, whether carbapenems could be used as surgical prophylaxis in these high-risk patients remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of carbapenems with that of cephalosporin or piperacillin-tazobactam for surgical prophylaxis in high-risk LT recipients with a MELD score ≥30.
This retrospective study included adult patients with a MELD score ≥30 who underwent LT between May 2018 and September 2020. We comparatively analyzed the infection rate and outcome between patients using cefoperazone-sulbactam or piperacillin-tazobactam and those using carbapenems as surgical prophylaxis.
This study included 105 LT recipients. Seventy-eight and 27 patients used non-carbted with infection incidence within 30 days after LT, 180-day post-LT survival or CRO infection. Therefore, carbapenems are not superior to cephalosporin or piperacillin-tazobactam for perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis in LT recipients with a MELD score ≥30.

meningitis has not been widely studied.
We report the case of a 61-year-old man who presented with fever and headache after neurosurgical treatment for a cerebral hemorrhage. Empiric antibiotic therapy was ineffective. Traditional culture of pathogens and serological testing yielded negative results, but
was detected in the cerebrospinal fluid by mNGS. After further verification by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), the patient's clinical treatment was adjusted accordingly. With targeted antibiotic intervention, the patient's symptoms were effectively alleviated, and clinical indicators returned to normal levels. Furthermore, the abundance of
decreased significantly compared to the initial mNGS reading after targeted treatment, indicating that the infection caused by
was effectively controlled.
Using mNGS, we found that
may be a candidate causative agent of meningitis. The technique also has the advantage of timeliness and accuracy that traditional cultures cannot achieve. A combination of mNGS with PCR is recommended to identify pathogens in the early stages of infectious diseases to administer targeted clinical medication.

To summarize our clinical experience with the diagnosis and treatment of children with acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST).
We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 18 children with AST treated at our hospital between January 2009 and May 2022.
There were 8 boys and 10 girls, aged 7.8 ± 3.8 years at admission. The main clinical manifestations were fever (88.9%), neck pain (100%), and neck mass (100%). Blood and pus cultures were performed in 9 and 15 patients, respectively. All blood cultures were negative, while positive pus cultures were noted in eight cases (six

and can be classified as pulmonary, disseminated or central. Disseminated histoplasmosis is the most dangerous of all clinical types and is characterized by rapid onset, rapid progression, high mortality, and difficulty in diagnosis and treatment.
This report describes a 31-year-old female who presented with fever, with a maximum temperature of 39.8 °C. There were no concomitant symptoms, such as cough, sputum, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, before the onset of fever, and the illness lasted for more than 20 days. On examination, the liver and spleen were enlarged, and laboratory tests showed a significant decrease in CD4 cell count, suggesting immune deficiency. Broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment was ineffective, and specific infectious diseases and haematological neoplasms were considered likely. She was finally diagnosed with disseminated histoplasmosis after undergoing bone marrow aspiration and metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) and was treated with amphotericin B, fluorouracil and itraconazole, with good results.
This case demonstrates that disseminated histoplasmosis infection can present with unexplained fever and that mNGS can be an important complement to bone marrow aspiration for the diagnosis of this disease.
