The aim of this cross-sectional study was to provide estimate of mid-buccal gingival recession (GR) according to the 2018 World Workshop Classification System and to explore GR risk indicators in a representative urban population in North-West of Italy.

This is a secondary analysis using data collected in an epidemiological study enrolling a representative sample of 736 adults, living in Turin. GR prevalence was defined as the presence of at least one mid-buccal GR ≥ 1 mm. STF-31 GRs were categorized according to the 2018 classification system (RT1, RT2, RT3) and to different severity cutoffs. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify RT GR risk indicators.

Mid-buccal GR ≥ 1 mm affected 57.20% of subjects and 14.56% of teeth. When considering RT1 GRs, their prevalence was 40.90% and 6.29% at the patient and tooth level. RT2 and RT3 GRs affected 25.82% and 36.68% of the study population, respectively. RT1 GRs occurred mostly on maxillary and mandibular premolars and maxillary canines, while RT2 and RT3 GRs on maxillary molars and mandibular incisors. Older age, high education, and full-mouth plaque score (FMPS) < 30% were risk indicators for RT1 GRs, while older age, poor education, periodontitis, and FMPS > 60% were significant contributors to RT2 and RT3 GRs.

RT1 and RT3 are fairly common findings in this Italian population and are significantly associated to different contributing factors and tooth type distribution pattern.

Prevention strategies should target different socio-demographic, behavioral, and clinical risk indicators based on the RT classes.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the microhardness of caries-affected dentin and color stability of teeth restored after treatments with silver diamine fluoride (SDF) associated to potassium iodide (KI) and Biosilicate.

Different samples from bovine teeth were obtained. For color readings, 80 cavities (6mm × 6mm × 2mm) were prepared, and for microhardness, teeth were flattened into dentine to obtain 40 samples. All samples were submitted to cariogenic challenge and separated in 4 groups, according to the treatment used 12% SDF + KI; 38% SDF; Biosilicate and control (no treatment). Cavities were restored with resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC, Vitremer, 3M ESPE) or composite resin (CR, Z350, 3M ESPE). After restoration, the samples were submitted to thermo-mechanical cycling (TMC) for 1,200,000 cycles. Color readings (EasyShade, Vita) were performed after restorations, after TMC, and 30days after TMC. Knoop microhardness was evaluated on the planned samples before and after cariogenic challene SDF adverse effects such as tooth staining.
The aim of this study is to determine the type and amount of monomer released over time after bleaching was applied to dental restorative materials containing dimethacrylate resin.

Thirteen different restorative materials containing dimethacrylate resin were used in this study. Twenty samples were prepared from each material and the samples were randomly divided into 4 subgroups, namely, office bleaching, home bleaching, and separate control group for each of the bleaching methods. After bleaching, the samples were stored in 75% ethanol solution for 1, 14, and 28days. Analysis of the samples collected to determine the type and amount of residual monomer released from the materials was performed using a liquid chromatography-tandem mass/mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS). Data were analyzed using Friedman and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Statistical significance level was taken as p < 0.05.

In terms of bleaching groups, mostly no significant difference was found between the groups in each time period in restorative materials (p > 0.05). In terms of time periods, it was determined that the amount of release of all monomers was decreased over time. In terms of restorative materials, the highest monomer release was detected in composite resin groups and the least monomer release was detected in CAD/CAM blocks.

Although monomers were released from all materials, bleaching did not affect the amount of released monomer. Amounts of released monomers were generally below toxic limits.

Physical methods such as X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy, single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD and PXRD), Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infra-red (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric Differential Thermal Analysis (TG-DTA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DTG/DSC), confirm the retention of the formula of TPAC throughout the sample mass in solid state, while UV-Vis spectroscopy in the solution. TPAC is the first example of carvacrol (the main ingredient of oregano) covalently bonded to any metal ion. Only the trans-O,O-[Ph3Sb(Carv)2] isomer was isolated suggesting stereo-selectivity of the preparation route. TPAC inhibits in vitro both human breast adenocarcinoma cell lines MCF-7 (positive to hormones receptor (HR +)), MDA-MB-231 (negative to hormones receptor (HR-)) stronger than normal human fetal lung fibroblast cells (MRC-5). The MCF-7 cells morphology, DNA fragmentation, Acridine Orange/Ethidium Bromide (AO/EB) Staining, cell cycle arrest and mitochondrial membrane permeabilization tests suggest an apoptotic pathway for cell death, especially, through the mitochondrion damage. The binding type of TPAC toward the calf thymus CT-DNA was initially deduced ex vivo from the differentiation of the DNA solution viscosity. Fluorescence spectroscopy confirms the interaction mode suggested. Spectroscopic evidence (FTIR, UV-Vis) suggest that glutathione (GSH) (a tripeptide over-expressed in tumor cells) induces conversion of non-active pentavalent antimony, which is contained in TPAC, to active trivalent one, providing a new strategy for the development of targeted chemotherapeutics.Fluorescent labeling is a broadly utilized approach to assess in vitro and in vivo behavior of biologically active, especially cell-penetrating and antimicrobial peptides. In this communication, far-UV circular dichroism (CD) spectra of penetratin (PEN) fluorophore conjugates reported previously have been re-evaluated. Compared to the intrinsically disordered native peptide, rhodamine B and carboxyfluorescein derivatives of free and membrane-bound PEN exhibit extrinsic CD features. Potential sources of these signals displayed above 220 nm are discussed suggesting the contributions of both intra- and intermolecular chiral exciton coupling mechanisms. Careful evaluation of the CD spectra of fluorophore-labeled peptides is a valuable tool for early detection of labeling-provoked structural alterations which in turn may modify the membrane binding and cellular uptake compared to the unconjugated form.
Chronic pain, with aprevalence of at least 17%, is acostly health problem associated with ahigh burden of disease. Musculoskeletal chronic pain is particulary common, which in many cases is treated with physiotherapy.

The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of innovative, promising physiotherapy interventions in pain management, to present their effectiveness and to discuss their implementation in healthcare.

Anarrative review was conducted. The Cochrane, Medline (via PubMed) and PEDro databases were searched using the search terms chronic pain, physiotherapy, prevention, pain education, behavioural intervention, eHealth, and systematic review as well as chronic pain, guideline and relevant synonyms.

One guideline review, two guidelines and ten systematic reviews were included. Chronic pain prevention, digital health apps, lifestyle interventions and behavioural approaches were identified as promising and effective interventions for people with chronic pain, showing the potential to meaningfully complement pain physiotherapy and improve quality of care.

Despite the predominantly positive results from systematic reviews, implementation in everyday care is difficult due to conditions of care and the contemporary education system for physiotherapists in Germany. Health services research can play an important role in accelerating the transfer of innovations into practice.

In this work, current evidence regarding the activity and stiffness of tense neck muscles is presented. Further, measurement methods and their limitations are explained. These limitations reveal the shortcomings of the current knowledge and the need for further research. Finally, a recently funded research project on the measurement of tense muscles is presented.
