Coupled to DNA metabarcoding, eDNA is a powerful tool in biodiversity assessments. Results from eDNA approach provided valuable insights to the studies of past and contemporary biodiversity in terrestrial and aquatic environments. However, the state and fate of eDNA are still investigated and the knowledge about the form of eDNA (i.e., extracellular vs. intracellular) or the DNA degradation under different environmental conditions is limited. Here, we tackle this issue by analyzing foraminiferal sedimentary DNA (sedDNA) from different size fractions of marine sediments >500 µm, 500-100 µm, 100-63 µm, and less then 63 µm. Surface sediment samples were collected at 15 sampling stations located in the Svalbard archipelago. Sequences of the foraminifera-specific 37f region were generated using Illumina technology. The presented data may be used as a reference for a wide range of eDNA-based studies, including biomonitoring and biodiversity assessments across time and space. © 2020 The Authors. This article provides some supplementary analysis data of speech production and perception of glottal stops in the Semitic language Maltese. In Maltese, a glottal stop can occur as a phoneme, but also as a phonetic marker of vowel-initial words (as in the case with Germanic languages like English). Data from four experiments are provided, which will allow other researchers to reproduce the results and apply their own data-analysis techniques to these data for further data exploration. A production experiment (Experiment 1) investigates how often the glottal marking of vowel-initial words occurs (causing vowel-initial words to be ambiguous with words starting with a glottal stop as a phoneme) and whether the glottal gesture for this marking can be differentiated from an underlying (phonemic) glottal stop in its acoustic properties. Experiments 2 to 4 investigate how and to what extent Maltese listeners perceive glottal markings as lexical (phonemic) or epenthetic (phonetic), using a two-alternative forced choice task (Experiment 2), a visual-world eye tracking task with printed target words (Experiment 3) and a gating task (Experiment 4). A full account of theoretical consequences of these data can be found in the full length article entitled "The glottal stop between segmental and suprasegmental processing The case of Maltese" [1]. © 2020 The Author(s).Metagenomics analysis was carried out on extracted DNA of Rhizospheric soil samples from Bambara groundnut. This dataset presented reports on the bacterial communities at the different growth stages of Bambara groundnut and the bulk soil. Paired-end Illumina-Miseq sequencing of 16S rRNA genes was carried on the soil samples of the bacterial community with the phyla dominated by Actinobacteria (30.1%), Proteobacteria (22%), Acidobacteria (20.9%), Bacteroides (8.4%), Chloroflex (4.5%) and Firmicutes (4.4%) in all the soil samples. Samples from the bulk soil had the least average percent phyla, while samples at seed maturity stage had the highest average percent phyla. 20E The alpha diversity at p = 0.05 was highest at this stage compared to the others and the control. Rubrobacter was the most predominant genera, after which is Acidobacterium and Skermanella. The biodiversity profile generated from the metagenomics analysis is useful in increasing knowledge of the drought-tolerance ability of Bambara groundnut. The data generated can be used to compare bacterial diversity at different growth stages of plants. © 2020 The Author(s).Aquatic foods, including fish, are a substantial component of animal source foods globally, and make a critical nutritional contribution to diets in many contexts. In the global North, concern among consumers and regulators over the safety and environmental sustainability of seafood, particularly in developed nations, has led to the development of increasingly stringent seafood safety standards. While such standards may constitute regularity, logistical, and economic barriers to participation in export markets by small-scale producers, they have in other contexts catalysed upgrades to production and post-harvest handling practices within value chains associated with both capture fisheries and aquaculture. The health burden of foodborne illnesses is a major concern in developing countries. As incomes rise, consumers in developing countries are increasingly willing to pay a premium for safer and environmentally sustainable foods. However, there is little empirical evidence on consumers' willingness to pay for seafood safety in developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Data on demand for seafood safety and environmental sustainability certification in African countries are largely unavailable in the public domain. In this paper, we describe data collected in Lagos State, Nigeria in October and November 2019. Experiments in the form of Becker-DeGroote-Marschak (BDM) auction mechanism, and post experiment surveys were conducted with 200 fish consumers in fish markets. These data can be used to assess whether consumers' demand for safe and healthy seafood from local markets can be harnessed to generate positive economic returns to producers. © 2020 The Author(s).Creativity is critical for human development and social progress. There is a growing interest in studies on the neural mechanism of creativity with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). However, it is hard to investigate the neural basis of creativity as high-level cognitive processing in the human brain. Based on the two-fundamental feature of novelty and usefulness in creativity [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. We could reveal the neural mechanism of creativity to investigate how the novelty and usefulness processing during creativity activity. The dataset contains two-part of data. First, online scanning data includes the fMRI scans and T1-weighted anatomical scans acquired under participants comprehend the three type of creative designs. The creative design includes familiar and useful design (FU), novel and useless design (NS), novel and useful design (NU). Participants were asked to comprehend each design throughout the entire 6 s and respond to a usefulness evaluation for every design via pressing the yes or no button. The three types of designs were pseudo-random presented during scanning. Second, post-test data includes the behavioral data of novelty and usefulness evaluation in a 5-scaled test using the same creative design pictures in fMRI scanning by the same group of participants. The dataset is meant to be used to assess the neural basis of novelty and usefulness features processing in creativity; it also allows for empirical investigation of how the neural bases responses to the different novel signal (e.g., usefulness signal and useless signal), the human brain distinguishes the familiar or novel signal. The dataset is a supplement to the research findings in the "The function of the hippocampus and middle temporal gyrus in forming new associations and concepts during the processing of novelty and usefulness features in creative designs" published in NeuroImage [6]. © 2020 The Author(s).This data article presents data on the results in national assessments for secondary and university education in engineering students. The data contains academic, social, economic information for 12,411 students. The data were obtained by orderly crossing the databases of the Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education (ICFES). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra are measured in order to understand the functional groups and their structure in the biomass. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the derivative thermogravimetric analysis (DTG) data are provided under Pyrolysis (N2) and combustion (O2) conditions to reveal the degradation pattern of the biomass. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is the thermochemical process to measure the enthalpy changes pattern of the biomass. The original data presented in this work can be found in a research paper titled "Evaluation of the bioenergy potential of invasive Pennisetum purpureum through pyrolysis and thermogravimetric analysis", by Md Sumon Reza, Shafi Noor Islam, Shammya Afroze, Muhammad S. Abu Bakar, Rahayu S. Sukri, Saidur Rahman, and Abul K. Azad [1]. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Inc.This article provides and describes a database containing three different variables for medical technology. The database, included in a main folder called COVID-19, has been designed and created by the Italian Civil Protection Department, which currently manages it. The database consists of six folders called 'aree' (containing charts of geographical areas interested by containment measures), 'dati-andamento-nazionale' (containing data relating to the national trend of SARS-CoV-2 spread), 'dati-json' (containing data that summarize the national, provincial and regional trends of SARS-CoV-2 spread), 'dati-province' (containing data relating to the provincial trend of SARS-CoV-2 spread), 'dati-regioni' (containing data relating to the regional trend of SARS-CoV-2 spread) and 'schede-riepilogative' (containing summary sheets relating to the provincial and regional trends of SARS-CoV-2 spread). The Italian Civil Protection Department daily receives data by the Italian Ministry of Health, analyzes them and updates the database. Thus, the database is subject to daily updates and integrations. The database is freely accessible (CC-BY-4.0 license) at https//github.com/pcm-dpc/COVID-19. This database is useful to provide insight on the spread mechanism of SARS-CoV-2, to support organizations in the evaluation of the efficiency of current prevention and control measures, and to support governments in the future prevention decisions. © 2020 The Author(s).
