Acupuncture has been found to be an effective treatment for insomnia. but it is not clear whether acupuncture is just a placebo effect. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of acupuncture and sham/placebo acupuncture.

We searched the Central Register of Controlled Trials of Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane from database inception through March 16, 2020 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared acupuncture therapy with sham/placebo acupuncture or no treatment. Restricted to English language. Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to analyze risk of bias of the included randomized controlled trials (RCT). Data analysis was performed with Review Manager 5.3.

A total of 15 studies involving 1108 patients. Meta-analysis results showed that acupuncture therapy was superior to sham/placebo acupuncture in terms of improving Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), insomnia severity index (ISI), total sleep time (TST), sleep-onset latency (SOL), wake after sleep onset (WASO), sleep efficiency (SE), ev Types of acupuncture therapy and placebo may underestimate the efficacy of acupuncture in different ways. This 3-year longitudinal study examined the extent to which body weight contingent self-worth (CSW) predicted depressive symptoms in 439 adolescent girls and the roles of unstable self-esteem and interpersonal sexual objectification in this association. Half-longitudinal mediation showed that the indirect effect of body weight CSW on depression via instability of self-esteem was significant. Prior levels of body weight CSW predicted increases in unstable self-esteem, which predicted increments in depressive symptoms over time. However, earlier levels of depression did not significantly predict increases in self-esteem instability. Moderation analyses indicated that the indirect effect was conditional upon individuals' experience of interpersonal sexual objectification. The positive link between body weight CSW and unstable self-esteem was stronger in girls who experienced more interpersonal sexual objectification. The direct effect of body weight CSW on depression was also moderated by interpersonal sexual objectification. Taken together, basing self-worth on body weight appears to be a risk factor for depression through its association with unstable self-esteem in adolescent girls and sexually objectifying experiences serve to exacerbate the connection between body weight CSW and adverse outcomes.
There are no conclusive diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) findings on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for now. We conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis of DTI studies to identify white matter (WM) microarchitecture changes in OCD, and also to compare the results differences between the two most frequently used methods (voxel-based analysis, VBA versus tract-based spatial statistics, TBSS) for DTI data.

A systematic search was performed on relevant studies that reported fractional anisotropy (FA) alterations between patients with OCD and healthy controls (HC). Seed-based d mapping (SDM) was applied to analyze microstructural WM abnormalities in OCD patients. Subgroup meta-analysis was subsequently performed to explore methodological differences between VBA and TBSS approaches.

A total of 30 studies (with 31 datasets) that comprised 855 patients and 875 HC were identified. OCD patients exhibited significantly decreased FA in the right cerebellar hemispheric lobule, corpus callosum (CC), left superior frontal gyrus (orbital part), right gyrus rectus, left superior longitudinal fasciculus and right lenticular nucleus in the pooled meta-analysis. The VBA subgroup showed lower FA in several brain regions while the TBSS subgroup only exhibited significant FA reductions in the CC.

According to the pooled meta-analysis, OCD patients presented microstructural abnormalities in distributed WM tracts. #link# However, heterogeneous results were found between VBA and TBSS studies.

We recruited a convenience sample of 195 nursing students and delivered a resilience-building module comprising three 90-minute workshops on the following topics resilience and emotion regulation, stress management and mindfulness, and burnout and depression. The participants' views and perceptions of the module were explored using pre-test and post-test questionnaires and focus group interviews. No significant changes in outcomes were observed from the pre-test to the post-test. However, a multivariable linear regression analysis indicated that mindfulness was significantly associated with resilience. A qualitative data analysis revealed that the resilience-building module evoked the participants' awareness of resilience and was considered an enjoyable learning experience. In conclusion, although the quantitative results demonstrated no significant changes in outcomes after the module, the qualitative results suggested that the resilience-building module could have beneficial effects if included in the undergraduate nursing curricula. Finally, better mindfulness was identified as important for enhancing resilience among undergraduate nursing students.
Brazil has high rates of caesarean sections, which has been suggested as a risk factor for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). In addition, some pre- and postnatal conditions have been identified as relevant in the etiology of ALL.

Investigate the association of caesarean sections, pre- and postnatal conditions with childhood ALL in the State of São Paulo.

Population-based case-control study including children that are below10 years old. Information on study variables was obtained through face to face interviews, through a questionnaire, and the State of São Paulo Declarations of Live Births database. QNZ and unconditional logistic regression approaches were used to calculate the odds ratio (OR) of the associations between caesarean sections, pre- and postnatal conditions with ALL, and 95 % confidence intervals (95 % CI).

We observed a weak and non-statistically significant risk for ALL among children exposed to caesarean sections (unconditional logistic regression OR 1.08; 95 % CI 0.70-1.66; conditional logistic regression OR 1.21; 95 % CI 0.72-2.02), but among children under 3 years old and born through a caesarean sections, the risk of ALL was greater (unconditional logistic regression OR 1.70; 95 % CI 0.69-4.21). A negative association for ALL was observed among children with mothers who reported 12 years of schooling or more (unconditional logistic regression OR 0.34; 95 % CI 0.16-0.69).

We found a tenuous suggestive association between caesarean sections and childhood ALL. The mother's high level of education showed an inverse association with ALL.

NMR titration experiments have been performed to study the sensing mechanism for these two dyes. Surprisingly, cyanide anion is nucleophilic addition to the α-position of BODIPY core (the azafulvene framework) in aqueous system instead of the expected classical nucleophilic addition to the formyl moiety of the probes. This nucleophilic addition of cyanide anion to the azafulvene framework causes the interruption of the π-conjugation of the BODIPY system, which brings a significant blue-shift (up to 104 nm) of the absorption maxima. A broadened and decreased absorption as well as ratiometrical fluorescence response (with maxima shifts from 523 to 670 nm) were observed with the titration of cyanide anion to probe 1b.In this paper, it was found that OliGreen emitted much stronger fluorescence in rigid T-Hg2+-T DNA structure than that in the presence of poly T. Thus, an OliGreen-responsive label-free fluorescent sensor was proposed for sensitive detection of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) by constructing T-Hg2+-T DNA structure. OliGreen emits strong fluorescence in T-Hg2+-T structures. The rigid DNA structure of T-Hg2+-T is prone to be destroyed by thiocholine (TCh) that hydrolyzed by acetylcholinesterase (AChE) because of the high affinity of TCh with Hg2+. As a result, T-Hg2+-T DNA structure broke down and the fluorescence intensity of OliGreen decreased greatly. With the inhibition of AChE by OPs, fluorescence intensity of OliGreen remained strong because of the rigid T-Hg2+-T DNA structure. Thus, a "turn-on" fluorescent sensor which avoids synthesis of nanomaterials and complex label procedures is proposed based on the fluorescence intensity of OliGreen. DDVP were detected with a wide linear range from 0.005 to 25.0 ng/mL and the detection limit was 2.9 pg/mL, which is more sensitive than previously reported methods. In this paper, a novel fluorescence assay has been constructed for the determination of parathion-methyl (PM) by using 4-amino-3-hydroxy-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (AHNSA) as probe. MnO2 nanosheets (MnO2 NS) could quench the fluorescence of AHNSA, while Mn2+, the reduction product of MnO2 NS, has no influence on it, resulting in fluorescence recovery. This is because that MnO2 NS have oxidized characteristic, and they can react with choline (TCh), which is the product of acetylthiocholine (ATCh) catalyzed by acetylcholinesterase (AChE). In the presence of OPs, the activity of AChE was inhibited, accompanied by the restraint of the redox reaction of MnO2 NS, therefore the fluorescence of AHNSA was quenched. link3 Under the optimized experimental conditions, a linear range of PM was determined to be 0.4-40 ng/mL (R2 = 0.997) by the proposed method with the limit of detection for 0.18 ng/mL (S/N = 3). The assay was successfully applied to the determination of PM in lake water, which average recoveries were between 86.5% and 114.4%.Herein, a facile, straightforward and green method was developed to prepare copper nanoclusters by using glutathione (GSH) as the protecting agent and ascorbic acid as the reducing agent. The glutathione-templated copper nanoclusters (GSH-Cu NCs) were characterized through fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and fluorescence lifetime analysis. The as-synthesized Cu NCs showed blue fluorescence with a peak centered at 426 nm. The Cu NCs had excellent water solubility, stability and dispersibility. Based on the inner filter effect and static quenching mechanism, Cu NCs were employed to detect furazolidone in bovine serum samples. Under optimal detection conditions, a good linear relationship was observed between F0/F and the furazolidone concentration from 0.05 to 60 μM. The detection limit (LOD) was 0.012 μM. Furthermore, the fluorescence probe was successfully used in the quantification of furazolidone in bovine serum samples.
