The present study aimed to provide a comprehensive investigation of cravings for non-alcoholic beverages and their link to consumption. Participants were 128 undergraduate students (17-25 years) who completed a craving diary and daily consumption measure over a period of a week. Cravings were reported for a range of beverages, including tea, juice, and flavoured milk, but by far the most craved beverages were water, coffee, and soft drink. Stronger cravings were associated with a greater likelihood of drinking and drinking more of the craved beverage. This was particularly the case for soft drink. Unlike water, cravings for coffee and soft drink were triggered by factors other than thirst, and the number of cravings predicted the total amount drunk over the week. The findings demonstrate the existence of cravings for non-alcoholic beverages such as soft drink, and point to these cravings as a potential target for reducing consumption.
This study examined perfectionism and self-concept constructs across eating disorder recovery stages in men, using a conceptualization of recovery that encompasses physical, behavioral, and cognitive recovery.

To describe the experiences of family support from the perspectives of patients newly diagnosed with cancer.
Descriptive qualitative phenomenological design was undertaken, including in-depth individual interviews with 13 newly diagnosed cancer patients from two hospitals in Jordan.
Three themes emerged 'being there,' 'family reunion and connectedness,' and 'gratified with family support.' Being there includes the compassion of family together, support by encouragement, and using religious rituals and traditional remedies. A cancer diagnosis brings family reunions and connectedness and strengthens relationships between spouses. The patients expressed gratitude that their families were compassionate, active listeners, and willing to help, which helped them make decisions related to cancer treatment and overcome their fears.
Findings show the strength and priority of family support in Jordanian Arabic culture during an initial cancer diagnosis. In cultures where family members take the burden of care, religion and cultural practices play a vital role in directing patient care. Catecholamine-resistant vasoplegia is a potentially devastating complication during liver transplantation. Hydroxocobalamin has emerged as a treatment for vasoplegia associated with cardiac surgery, liver transplantation, and septic shock.
We performed a retrospective review of patients who underwent liver transplantation between October 2015 and May 2020 to evaluate the efficiency of hydroxocobalamin in this setting.

However, their combined effects on the ovary and its mechanism in mammals remained unclear. Female C57BL/6 mice were used in this study to investigate the combined ovarian toxicity of polystyrene MPs (PS-MPs, 0.1 mg/d/mouse) and Pb (1 g/L) for 28 days. Results showed that co-exposure to PS-MPs and Pb increased the accumulation of Pb in ovaries, the histopathological damage in ovaries and uterus, the serum malondialdehyde levels and decreased serum superoxide dismutase and sex hormone levels significantly when compared with single PS-MPs and Pb exposure. These observations indicated that co-exposure exerted more severe toxicity to mouse ovaries and uterus. Furthermore, co-exposure to PS-MPs and Pb caused endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress by activating the PERK/eIF2α signaling pathway in the ovary, which resulted in apoptosis. However, the oxidative and ovarian damage were alleviated, and the mRNA levels of genes related to the PERK/eIF2α signaling pathway were down-regulated to levels of the control mice in the PS-MPs and Pb co-exposed mice administered with ER stress inhibitor (Salubrinal, Sal) or the antioxidant (N-acetyl-cysteine, NAC). The only land mammal native to the archipelago is the Bonin fruit bat (Pteropus pselaphon), but little is known regarding its sensitivity to rodenticides. In this study, the Egyptian fruit bats (Rousettus aegyptiacus) was used as a model animal for in vivo pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics analysis and in vitro enzyme kinetics using their hepatic microsomal fractions. The structure of vitamin K epoxide reductase (VKORC1), the target protein of the rodenticide in the Bonin fruit bat, was predicted from its genome and its binding affinity to rodenticides was evaluated. The Egyptian fruit bats excreted diphacinone slowly and showed similar sensitivity to rats. In contrast, they excreted warfarin, another first-generation rodenticide, faster than rats and recovered from the toxic effect faster. An in silico binding study also indicated that the VKORC1 of fruit bats is relatively tolerant to warfarin, but binds strongly to diphacinone. These results suggest that even chemicals with the same mode of action display different sensitivities in different species fruit bat species are relatively resistant to warfarin, but vulnerable to diphacinone.
Golestan Population-based Cancer Registry (GPCR) with more than 15-years experiences developed an in-house online software called Cancer Data Collection and Processing (CanDCap) to improve its data collection operations from the conventional offline method to new online method. We aimed to report the methods and framework that GPCR applied to design and implementation of the CanDCap.
CanDCap was designed based on International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) protocols and standards and according to the GPCR workflow. CanDCap has two parts including a web-based online part for data collection and a windows-based part for data processing consisting of quality control and deduplication of repeated records. Questionnaire for User Interface Satisfaction (QUIS) was used in order to assess user interaction satisfaction.
CanDCap was implemented in 2018 and could improve the quality of the GPCR data during its first three years of activity (2018-2020), during which about 9,000 records were registered. The coverage for optional items including national ID, father name, address and telephone number were improved from 23%, 32%, 83% and 82% in conventional offline method (2015-2017) to 83%, 81%, 87%, and 90% after using the CanDCap (2018-2020), respectively. The timeliness was also improved from 4years to 2years. Overall, user interaction satisfaction was acceptable (7.8 out of 9).
CanDCap could resulted in improvement in data quality and timeliness of the GPCR as a cancer registry unit with limited resources. It has the potential to be considered as a model for population-based cancer registries in lower-resource settings.
