Schizonepeta tenuifolia (Benth.) Briq, a traditional Chinese medicine, is an annual herbaceous plant that is widely distributed in China, Japan, and Korea. The essential oil (EO) of S. tenuifolia has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the components contributing to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities remain unclear. This study was aimed at investigating the spectrum-effect relationship between GC-MS fingerprint and the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of S. tenuifolia EO. Here, the fingerprints of EO from 10 batches of S. tenuifolia from various sources were established using GC-MS, and the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory bioactivities were evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and nitric oxide inhibitory assays, respectively. Finally, 13 common peaks were identified from 10 batches of S. tenuifolia by searching against the standard mass spectra in NIST 14 and comparing the literature retention index. The different sources of S. tenuifolia EO exhibit mild antioxidant activities and significant anti-inflammatory effects. In particular, menthone (peak 3), isomenthone (peak 4), pulegone (peak 7), piperitone (peak 8), and β-caryophyllene (peak 11) might be the dominant constituents responsible for the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of S. tenuifolia EO. This method may provide a time-saving, convenient way to screen the potential effective components of S. tenuifolia EO.
To measure utility ratings and quality-adjusted life-years(QALYs) for nicotine dependence-related health states using the standard gamble approach among a sample of dental patients; investigate the possible associations of nicotine dependence, and study the influences on tobacco-related health state utilities estimates among patients.

A sample of 200 adult outpatients who were current or former consumers of tobacco were included in the cross-sectional study. Demographic, oral health self-rating and tobacco-related data (Fagerstrom scale for nicotine dependence, type of tobacco consumed, frequency and duration of the habit) were collected. A standard gamble method of utility valuation was also carried out.

Older age, lower educational attainment, higher frequency of consumption, increased duration of the habit, consumption of chewing tobacco, as opposed to smoking tobacco, and poor oral health were associated with higher nicotine dependence. Lower nicotine dependence, better oral health and quitting the habit were associated with better health utility estimates. QALYs lost due to the habit among the 'low to moderate' and 'significant' nicotine dependence groups were 2.7 (sd, 3.7) and 6.7 (sd, 8.0) years, respectively.

Higher health utility ratings were seen among patients with 'low to moderate' nicotine dependence, better oral health status and quitters of the tobacco habit. Quality of life weights generated through this method could be used for cost-utility analyses of tobacco cessation/prevention interventions in different settings and cultures.

Observational studies have examined the association between delirium and development of new dementia. However, no recent review has collectively assessed the available evidence quantitatively and qualitatively. We systematically reviewed and critically evaluated the literature regarding the association between delirium and dementia, and calculated the odds of developing new dementia after having delirium.

This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted according to Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses guidelines. MEDLINE, EMBASE and PsycINFO, were searched for English-language articles that compared the incidence of new dementia in older adult (≥65) inpatients with delirium, to inpatients without delirium. A random effects model was used for meta-analysis, and overall effect size was calculated using reported raw data of event counts. The Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment scale assessed risk of bias.

Six observational studies met eligibility criteria, with follow-uThis emphasises the importance of delirium prevention and cognitive monitoring post-delirium. The included studies mainly examined post-surgical patients-further research on medical and intensive care unit cohorts is warranted. Future studies should assess whether delirium duration, severity and subtype influence the risk of developing dementia.
Toothbrushing is generally considered as a key self-care behaviour necessary for maintaining good oral health. Although twice-daily brushing is widely recommended as beneficial since this provides both biofilm removal and a regular application of fluoride, some people such as those with low socio-economic (SES) backgrounds often brush less regularly. Habit theory identifies that behaviours become habitual when they are undertaken repeatedly in response to a particular cue within a stable context. Once behaviour becomes automatic, long-term maintenance is more likely even if motivation wanes. Sulfopin concentration Establishing toothbrushing as a habitual behaviour is therefore an intervention strategy which may help reduce health inequalities. Therefore, the objective was to more fully understand the nature of toothbrushing behaviour in adults and what prompts its instigation and execution in the morning and evening, in order to inform the design of interventions in this area.

Twenty-nine semi-structured interviews were undertaning and evening toothbrushing is important for the design of effective behavioural interventions, especially those aiming to achieve sustainable improvement in the frequency of night-time toothbrushing.Anxiety and eating disorders (EDs) often co-occur, prompting calls to explore anxiety-related maintenance processes in ED samples. Safety behaviors, which function to prevent a feared outcome from occurring or to reduce anxiety associated with a feared stimulus, are observed across anxiety disorders and, along with overt avoidance behaviors, are an important target in treatment. Data suggest that individuals with EDs also engage in safety behaviors. However, no existing assessments provide a comprehensive measure of eating-disorder-specific overt avoidance and safety behaviors. The goal of this Stage 1 Registered Report is to develop a comprehensive self-report measure of ED-specific safety behaviors. In Study 1, we will recruit 50 women with EDs to complete the scale and provide feedback on the response scale. Feedback from these participants will be used to refine the measure. In Study 2, we will evaluate the psychometric properties of the measure in a large sample of women with EDs (n dependent on the size of measurement) and a community sample without current or a history of ED symptoms.
