Automated Backbone Localization and Spine Centerline Extraction throughout Radiographs associated with Individuals along with Teenage Idiopathic Scoliosis.
We propose a novel optical 1×2 power splitter based on an asymmetric ladder-shaped multimode interference (MMI) coupler in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) which has an ultra-compact size of 3.3 µm×2.4 µm. A trapezoid with a small region is removed from the bottom left corner of the MMI coupler to achieve variable splitting ratio. The comparison with the asymmetric rectangular 1×2 splitter is numerically analyzed. By carefully optimizing the width of input taper, the proposed splitter shows a low phase deviation for the two output ports while keeping both of a low-loss performance and feasible splitting ratio. The simulated results show that the splitter can operate with an insertion loss less than 0.67 dB, a large range of splitting ratio from 5050 to 1189 and an ultra-low phase deviation less than 2.8° among the C band spectra.Water scarcity is still a pressing issue in many regions. The application of membrane technology through water desalination to convert brackish to potable water is a promising technology to solve this issue. This study compared the performance of templated TEOS-P123 and ES40-P123 hybrid membranes for brackish water desalination. The membranes were prepared by the sol-gel method by employing tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) for the carbon-templated silica (soft template) and ethyl silicate (ES40) for the hybrid organo-silica. Both sols were templated by adding 35 wt.% of pluronic triblock copolymer (P123) as the carbon source. The silica-templated sols were dip-coated onto alumina support (four layers) and were calcined by using the RTP (rapid thermal processing) method. click here The prepared membranes were tested using pervaporation set up at room temperature (~25 °C) using brackish water (0.3 and 1 wt.%) as the feed. It was found that the hybrid membrane exhibited the highest specific surface area (6.72 m2·g-1), pore size (3.67 nm), and pore volume (0.45 cm3·g-1). The hybrid ES40-P123 was twice thicker (2 μm) than TEOS-P123-templated membranes (1 μm). Lastly, the hybrid ES40-P123 displayed highest water flux of 6.2 kg·m-2·h-1. Both membranes showed excellent robustness and salt rejections of >99%.The MoSi2-ZrB2 coatings were prepared on Nb-Si based alloy by atmospheric plasma spraying with the spraying power 40, 43 and 45 kW. The effect of spraying power on the microstructure and oxidation resistance of MoSi2-ZrB2 coating at 1250 °C were studied. The results showed that the main constituent phases of coatings were MoSi2 at all spraying power. The coating became more compact as the spraying power increased. The coating prepared at 45 kW was dense and uniform, which exhibited the best oxidation resistance due to the formation of a dense and uniform glass layer consisting of SiO2 and ZrSiO4.The distributed high temperature measurement of an optical fiber subjected to electric arc discharges based on optical frequency-domain reflectometry is experimentally demonstrated. The distributed temperature profile is attained in an open glow regime of a few milliamps with maximum detectable temperature up to 2100 ± 20 °C. The discharge arc-induced softened length of the fiber and mechanical stress are measured and statistically analyzed in terms of the correlation of the Rayleigh spectra. The large wavelength scanning range of OFDR enables much higher accuracy for the delay time measurement with a minimum measured delay of 40 fs. The delay shift over the entire heating range for a single discharge duration is statistically calculated by using a temporal correlation method. The reliability of the thermal sensitivity coefficient as 10 pm/°C for telecom single mode fiber (SMF, @1550 nm) is quantitatively analyzed and evaluated by the correlation coefficient. Lastly, a spectral mapping method is employed in spectrum monitoring for discharge dynamic impact on the optical path length (OPL) and local Rayleigh scatter.Compared to other appointment methods in public hospitals, registering through the Internet or utilizing e-appointments, or registering online as an outpatient, can provide more information to the user. This research investigated the integration of unified theory of the acceptance and use of technology and information system quality in determining factors that influence the adoption of e-appointments by patients, based on the requirements of food safety consultation in Taiwan. Empirical data from 369 valid samples were assessed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The key findings of this study indicated that patients' acceptance of e-appointments was influenced by users' perceptions (i.e., performance expectancy and facilitating conditions), along with information quality and service quality. The practical and academic implications are provided for future practitioners and scholars, and to enhance patients' usage of e-appointments in their healthcare activities.Naringenin, an anti-inflammatory citrus flavonoid, is restrained from large-scale use by its reduced water solubility and bioavailability. To overcome these limitations, naringenin was loaded into lipid nanoemulsions directed towards vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM)-1, exposed by activated endothelium, and delivered intravenously in a murine model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation. To follow the in vivo bio-distribution, naringenin-loaded nanoemulsions were labeled with near-infrared probe Indocyanine Green (ICG). Based on ICG fluorescence, a VCAM-1-dependent retention of nanoemulsions was detected in the heart and aorta, while ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) measurements showed a target-selective accumulation of naringenin in the heart and lungs. Correlated, fluorescence and UHPLC data indicated a mixed behavior of the VCAM-1 directed nanoparticles, which were driven not only by the targeting moiety but also by passive retention. The treatment with naringenin-loaded nanoemulsions reduced the mRNA levels of some inflammatory mediators in organs harvested from mice with acute inflammation, indicative of their anti-inflammatory potential. The data support a novel theranostic nanoplatform for inflammation, the naringenin/ICG-loaded nanoparticles that either by passive accumulation or effective targeting of the activated endothelium can be employed for imaging inflamed vascular areas and efficient delivery of the encapsulated therapeutic agent.
