The amplitude of the compound muscle action potential was higher in the hADSCs group. The number of myelinated nerve fibers, muscle cells and motor plates was higher in the hADSC group. There was also greater survival of sensory and motor neurons in the hADSC animals. One of the mechanisms of airborne transmission of the severe acute respiratory syndrome - corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) amid humans is through direct ejection of droplets via sneezing, coughing and vocalizing. Nevertheless, there are ample evidences of the persistence of infectious viruses on inanimate surfaces for several hours to a few days. Through a critical review of the current literature and a preliminary analysis of the link between SARS-CoV-2 transmission and air pollution in the affected regions, we offer a perspective that polluted environment could enhance the transmission rate of such deadly viruses under moderate-to-high humidity conditions. The aqueous atmospheric aerosols offer a conducive surface for adsorption/absorption of organic molecules and viruses onto them, facilitating a pathway for higher rate of transmission under favourable environmental conditions. This mechanism partially explains the role of polluted air besides the exacerbation of chronic respiratory diseases in the rapid transmission of the virus amongst the public. Hence, it is stressed that more ambitious policies towards a cleaner environment are required globally to nip in the bud what could be the seeds of a fatal outbreak such as COVID-19.Batch-type experiments were used to study competitive adsorption/desorption for the antibiotics tetracycline (TC), oxytetracycline (OTC), and chlortetracycline (CTC), onto by-products from forest and food industries (oak ash, pine bark, and mussel shell). These antibiotics are frequently present in manures and slurries spread on agrosystems. Binary competitive systems were performed by setting the dose of one antibiotic to 200 μmol L-1, and varying the concentration of a second antibiotic from 50 to 600 μmol L-1. In the cases where a concentration of 200 μmol L-1 was used for each antibiotic, the results of the binary experiments were also compared with those obtained in parallel tests corresponding to simple and ternary systems using the same concentration. The results indicated that pine bark can adsorb most of the antibiotics added, with desorption being less than 5% in most cases. Oak ash showed high adsorption for all three antibiotics in the simple systems (100% of CTC, 90% of TC, and 80% of OTC), but clearly decreased in the binary systems (up to values below 40%), especially for higher antibiotics concentrations, although desorption was generally less than 5%. Mussel shell showed adsorption results lesser than 25% for OTC and CT in simple systems, while increased up to 65% in binary systems in which CTC was present at high concentrations, but desorption was generally very high. CTC was the antibiotic with the highest adsorption onto all three by-products, and the one showing less decrease for its adsorption in the binary systems. Overall, the smallest differences among the various competitive systems were obtained when the adsorbent used was pine bark, and especially for the CTC antibiotic. Its replacement by a tryptophan residue reduced the kcat for (S)-6-OH-nicotine by more than 6-fold and increased ~1.5-fold. Combining this mutation with two surface mutations that were predicted to enhance enzyme stability, further increased the kcat for nicotine resulting in a comparatively robust oxidation of (s)-nicotine (kcat >1 s-1) at 37 °C, at the same time reducing the specificity for (S)-OH-nicotine (kcat/KM) by more than 100-fold and increasing that for (S)-nicotine by more than 2-fold. Interestingly, adding a maltose-binding protein (MBP) tag onto the N-terminus of HLNO markedly increased the thermal stability of the enzyme, extending the half-life at 37 °C from ~2 h to ~22 h. This effect was due almost entirely to increased FAD retention, an observation that may prove useful to improve flavin retention in other flavin-dependent monoamine oxidases.Even though the immuno-oncology (IO) era has achieved many successes, some signs of research development deceleration are arising.
