This work provides new knowledge pertaining to geohazard evolution after a strong earthquake and to profound impacts of a catastrophic earthquake on geological environment and landscape.Aegle marmelos (L.) Correa belongs to the family Rutaceae is generally known as "bael fruit tree" occuring across the south Asian countries. The current investigation screened the main derivatives from crude ethanolic extracts of the Bael tree leaf and evaluated activity effects on the larvae and adults of Aedes aegypti (L.) Dengue vector mosquito and a non-target aquatic predator. The GC-MS results showed that the peak area was found to be profound in N-methyl-1-adamantaneacetamide (N-M 1a) followed by oleic acid (OA) with 63.08 and 11.43% respectively. The larvicidal activity against the fourth instar larvae and the crude Ex-Am showed prominent mortality rate (93.60%) at the maximum dosage of 100 ppm. The mortality rate of N-M 1a and OA was occurred at 10 ppm (97.73%) and 12 ppm (95.4%). The repellent activity was found to be prominent at crude Ex-Am (50 ppm) as compared to the pure compounds (N-m 1a and OA) with maximum protection time up to 210 min. The non-target screening of Ex-Am, N-M 1a, and OA on mosquito predator Tx. splendens showed that they are scarcely toxic even at the maximum dosage of 1000 ppm (34.13%), 100 ppm (27.3%), and 120 ppm (31.3%) respectively. Thus, the present investigation clearly proved that the crude Ex-Am and their major derivatives Nm 1-a and OA showed their acute larval toxicity as well as potential mosquito repellent against the dengue mosquito and eco-safety against the mosquito predator.To achieve China's determined contributions by 2030 and establish nationwide carbon emission trading system (ETS) which main participants are sectors, appropriated carbon emission allowance (CEA) allocation among sectors is crucial. In CEA distribution, fairness is primary; and sectoral efficiency is another significant factor. Nevertheless, considering fairness and efficiency while covering various sectors is a challengeable issue. Hence, combined with a new tow-objective data envelopment analysis (DEA) model and genetic algorithm (GA), a novel allocation framework is proposed, i.e., dual level allocation scheme incorporated with GA (DLA-GA). On the basis of evaluating the CO2 emission performance of various sectors in China, the corresponding allocation steps are put forward. Through the value convergence and value repetition tests, the stability and feasibility of DLA-GA are justified. Then, the results of the DLA-GA and grandfathering principle are compared. The research shows that (1) under the same constraint conditions, the emission right of CO2 is allocated with DLA-GA, which leads to lower cost and higher overall sectoral performance; (2) through utilizing the En-Lorenz and En-Gini coefficients, it has found that higher allocation equity among sectors emerges via DLA-GA;(3) the key reduction sectors have been revealed through emission value estimation. This work may contribute to enrich the methodologies in CEA allocation at different dimensions, and provide some references for policymaker regarding the achievement of 2030 carbon reduction target.The world is facing a COVID-19 pandemic outbreak with an unprecedented and enormous impact on the lives of humankind. The economic engine has suffered a big blow in economic and financial performance in all the regions. South Asian countries are also trying to cope with the challenges posed by the pandemic. This paper attempts to understand the severity of the pandemic, the responses by the governments of the region, and the way forward. The pandemic affected the services, manufacturing, trade, supply chain, and particularly the small businesses, which disrupted all the economic indicators, forecasts, and growth patterns. The paper also discusses the strategies devised by the countries to counter the shocks of pandemics and what new opportunities are identified under the circumstances.The unavailability of sunlight during nighttime and cloudy weather condition has limited the usage of solar cookers throughout the day. This study will attempt to engineer a solar cooker with PV (photovoltaic panel), evacuated tubes with CPC reflectors, battery, and charge controller using the microcontroller PIC 16F877A. A mathematical model is developed to predict the electrical power (Ep) required during cloudy weather condition and nighttime as well as the temperatures occurring at different parts of the cooker. The proposed model is validated against experimental observations gathered for one of the typical working days of the system. The cooker is tested for various cooking loads to find the cooking time, and it is proven that the proposed cooker can be utilized over 24/7 without interruption.Continuously improving freshwater aquaculture efficiency will promote the sustainable development of freshwater aquaculture, which is crucial to ensure aquatic food supply. In particular, measuring the total factor productivity (TFP) of freshwater aquaculture to find ways to improve its efficiency is of great significance to sustainable development of freshwater aquaculture industry. Therefore, based on directional distance function, this paper constructs a meta-frontier Malmquist index (MMI) model by considering the regional heterogeneity to evaluate the TFP of freshwater aquaculture of China from 2004 to 2019. The results show that (1) from the perspective of time, TFP fluctuated significantly from 2004 to 2012, while after 2013, TFP remained around 1 with small fluctuation. In other words, freshwater aquaculture in China began to maintain a relatively negative state of development. (2) From a regional point of view, this study found that freshwater aquaculture TFP of inland region is better than the TFP of coastal region. (3) From the decomposition index, the variation of freshwater aquaculture TFP was driven by the combined effect of technology change (TC) and technical efficiency change (EC). In addition, the decomposition index efficiency shows that the technical efficiency decreases and the management efficiency changes little. (4) The gap of freshwater aquaculture technology in coastal areas is very small, and close to the optimal technical level. While in inland region, on the contrary, there is more room for improvement. According to the above empirical results, this paper finally gives some policy suggestions to improve the TFP to ensure the sustainable development of freshwater aquaculture.Safe and effective vaccines became an important preventive tool against novel corona virus disease infection. Physicians were prioritized for early vaccination since they are at higher risk for contagion of the infection and they might affect the general populations' uptake of the vaccine. This study aimed to examine the acceptability of COVID-19 vaccines and the underpinnings of reluctance to uptake the vaccine among working physicians in Egypt. A cross-sectional study was conducted for 3 months, recruiting 1268 physicians using a snowballing random sampling technique. A self-administered electronic questionnaire was deployed to collect related data. Of participants, 24% expressed their acceptance towards COVID-19 vaccines, 39% would wait for further review, while 36.7% did not agree to get vaccinated. Findings revealed that 22% of them were vaccinated and the significant determinants of unacceptability included age, gender, higher educational attainments, prior infection, lack of direct patients' contact, and working in rural health facilities (p less then 0.05). Integrated approaches should be designed to address concerns and factors associated with vaccine unacceptability to reduce vaccination reluctance between physicians, hence the general population.This paper reports on the seasonal and species comparison of hepatic nodular alterations in two indicator fish species from the hyper-eutrophic Roodeplaat Dam in South Africa. This freshwater system is characterized by seasonal cyanobacterial algal blooms which release bio-toxins, including hepato-toxins, which can have negative effects on the health of the resident fish population. A total of 115 Clarias gariepinus (Burchell) and 98 Oreochromis mossambicus (Peters) were collected seasonally across six different surveys over a period of 3 years. Nodular alterations in livers were assessed both macroscopically and microscopically. We found a species difference with a 48% prevalence of nodular alterations in C. gariepinus and no macroscopically visible alterations in O. mossambicus. Affected fish also showed an increase in the ratio of liver mass to body mass, i.e., the hepatosomatic index. The microscopic characteristics of the nodules were primarily associated with pre-neoplastic, focal areas of cellular alterations; most prevalent were focal areas of steatosis. However, we could not establish a seasonal pattern regarding the occurrence of these alterations and therefore no association between the occurrence of the liver pathology and the cyanobacterial blooms. Our results therefore suggest that the occurrence of nodular alterations is not an acute, seasonal response, but rather a chronic, and possibly, and more interestingly, a species-specific, pathological response.The balance between economic development and environmental governance has always been the focus of attention, and this has become a key issue facing in China. In recent years, the means of improving the environment through taxation are common, and it is more in line with China's national conditions. Carbon tax and fuel tax are considered to be effective environmental supervision measures, and the implementation of this policy is bound to have a critical impact on the advance of economic level. However, the implementation effects of these two mechanisms may be different, and they may also have various effects on regional development. Therefore, based on the panel data of China's 29 provinces from 2008 to 2018, we adopt the spatial autocorrelation method to explore the relationship between the economic levels of various areas. Then, establishing the panel spatial econometric model of economic growth and carbon tax, economic growth and fuel tax respectively to compare the implementation effects of the two tax policies. It turns out that there is a positive correlation between the economic growth of 29 provinces in China. And whether choosing to levy carbon tax or fuel tax, they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Finally, according to the results of empirical analysis results, some relevant policy suggestions are put forward.
