The integration of occupational risk management initiatives and health promotion and well-being in the workplace poses a challenge to organizations from different sectors.

Cross-cultural adaptation of the
(DCWS) to the Brazilian Portuguese language.

The process of cross-cultural adaptation of the
to the Brazilian Portuguese language evolved along six steps translation, reconciliation, back-translation, revision by internal expert committee, revision by expert panel (pretest) and final revision.

The stringent protocols adopted in the present study resulted in a satisfactory and adequate instrument to analyze programs which target workers' health, safety and well-being at organizations operating in Brazil.

The Brazilian version of DCWS, entitled
(QDBC) represents an advance in the evaluation of the effectiveness of integrated actions for health promotion and workers' well-being in different work environments.

Accurate knowledge of the prevalence and profile of sickness absenteeism enables direct analysis of work environments and the health-disease process.

To establish the prevalence and profile of sick leaves granted to Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) employees from 2012 through 2016.

Cross-sectional study with analysis of variables sex, age range, age at onset of sick leave, job position, FIOCRUZ unit, leave type, ICD code, leave duration, number of leave extensions, and outcomes; p=0.05 and 95% confidence interval were considered in all the analyses.

Work accidents accounted for 2.30% of sick leaves; the absenteeism rate was 2.89%. Musculoskeletal diseases (21.2%), mental and behavioral disorders (13.1%) and consequences of external causes (11.3%) were the main reasons for sick leave. Mental and behavioral disorders exhibited the longest median leave duration (30 days). The odds of requiring a sick leave were highest among women (OR=4.08), employees with technical positions (OR=2.86), aged 25 to 34 years old (OR=2.68) or allocated to production units (OR=176.30) and hospitals (OR=34.05).

We corroborate the relevance of accurate knowledge of aspects related to absenteeism for the planning of strategies to promote the functional capacity of workers, and reduce its consequences on the health-work-disease relationship.

Butchers are exposed to biological hazards as a function of their continuous handling of meat containing blood, fat and fluids. Biological hazards include contamination with viruses, such as the papillomavirus (HPV), especially HPV type 7, which is associated with the so-called "butcher's wart."

To investigate wart-like lesions among meat handlers.

Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted at a supermarket in São Paulo in 2017. Plerixafor Twenty-four employees allocated to the meat handling section were interviewed and subjected to skin visual examination; lesions were photographed.

Most participants were male (87.5%) and half of them (50.0%) were within age range 31 to 40 years old. Only one employee had started working in this section less than 2 years earlier. Wart-like lesions or scars with black dots on their center were found on the hands of 11 butchers (45.8%).

Almost half of the participants had history of hand warts. Most of the participants with lesions were male, aged up to 40, right-handed and had worked as meat handlers for 2 years at least. We might infer we found cases of wart-like occupational dermatosis among butchers at a supermarket in São Paulo.

Occupational dermatoses must be mandatorily reported in Brazil.

To characterize the reporting of occupational dermatoses in the Brazilian South region, and describe the profile of the involved workers.

Retrospective and descriptive study of 396 cases of occupational dermatoses reported from 2007 through 2016 via the Information System for Notifiable Diseases.

3.6 and 2.2 cases / 10,000 workers / year were of men and women, respectively. The highest incidence of occupational dermatoses corresponded to age range 50 to 64 years old, 1.8 cases / 10,000 workers / year, and to maintenance and repair workers, 3.6 cases / 10,000 workers / year. Most cases involved whites (77%) and workers not having completed elementary school (37.6%). Patch testing was only performed for 11.4% of cases.

Reinforcing measures to promote the use of personal protective equipment is necessary, as well as to improve reporting and sensitize professionals to perform accurate reports in official systems.

Military police officers are a distinct population group given they deal everyday with violence and crime. For this reason they are more susceptible to develop burnout syndrome, resulting in significant decrease of productivity and changes in the quality of sleep.

To analyze the correlation between burnout syndrome and sleep quality relative among military police officers.

Cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study conducted with 32 military police officers of the military police battalion of Teresina, Piaui, Brazil. Data collection was performed through administration of a questionnaire for sociodemographic data, the Masliach Burnout Inventory and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Pearson's correlation was used for statistical analysis.

The sample comprised 32 male military police officers, with average age 44.35±5.63 years old. Sleep duration exhibited highly significant, inverse and moderate correlation with emotional exhaustion (p=0.0003). Emotional exhaustion exhibited significant moderate correlation with sleep quality (p=0.004). Depersonalization exhibited significant, albeit weak correlation with sleep quality (p=0.03).

Burnout syndrome domains emotional exhaustion and depersonalization exhibited significant correlation with sleep quality.

An adequate relationship among health-related physical fitness (HRPF) components improve the professional performance of military police officers (MOPs).

To investigate the correlation among HRPF components for Special Police Operations (BOPE) and Traffic Police (BPTRAN) Battalion MOPs.

The sample comprised 47 male MOPs aged 26 to 49 years old divided in two groups BOPE (N=25) and BPTRAN (n=22). The participants were subjected to a test battery-anthropometric measurements, sit-and-reach test, 1-minute sit-up test, elbow flexion test, and 20-meter shuttle run test-for evaluation of the HRPF morphological, cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular components.

Both groups exhibited moderate-to-strong correlation of waste circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage (BFP) with localized muscle resistance (LMR) (
=-0.589;
=-0.404;
=-0.637) and dynamic muscle strength (DMS) (
=0.592;
=-0.416;
=-0.651) (
<0.05). Significant positive and negative correlation was found between maximum oxygen consumption and WC, BMI, BFP and LMR (p<0.05) but not with flexibility for BOPE.

There was strong correlation between the HRPF morphological, cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular components, except for flexibility among BOPE MPOs. The study findings allow inferring that HRPF is a global variable.

Occupational stress might impair the work ability of physicians, leading to medical errors and illness.

To describe the sociodemographic and occupational profile of physicians, calculate the work ability index (WAI) and correlate it to sociodemographic factors, occupational characteristics and lifestyle.

Cross-sectional study conducted with a random sample of 408 physicians from Maringa, Parana, Brazil, stratified per sex. We administered a self-report questionnaire with the following four sections sociodemographic profile, occupational characteristics, lifestyle, and work ability.

Most participants were male (61.27%), young (20 to 40 years old-57.35%) and married (61.76%). While participants had usually completed a medical residency program (50.74%) most had worked less than 10 years in the profession (47.06%). About 44.61% of the sample worked 50 to 120 hours / week, 41.18% had formal employment relationship registered in their work card, and 53.43% slept less than six hours/day. The mean WAI was 44, which characterizes excellent work ability. Reduced WAI was associated with older age, longer length in the profession, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, and poorer mental resources to cope with the job demands. Only 1.72% of the participants stated that, based on their current state of health, continuing in the job in two years' time would be unlikely.

Their excellent work ability notwithstanding, the occupational characteristics and lifestyle of physicians call for interventions to prevent impairments of their professionals performance.

Pain is a public health problem with negative impact on quality of life.

To analyze the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain and associated occupational factors among Pilates instructors, and to compare their quality of life relative to Brazilian reference values.

A total of 166 Pilates instructors from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (consecutive sampling) with degrees in physical education or physical therapy responded the 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey and Work-related Habits Questionnaire. Statistical analysis included calculation of prevalence ratios (Poisson regression) and the simple t-test.

About 62% and 63.3% of the participants reported neck and low back pain, respectively. The prevalence of neck (19%) and low back (16%) pain was higher among the participants who reported to feel always stressed regarding psychological pressure. The prevalence of neck pain was 25% higher among the participants who reported to feel always stressed regarding decision making. The prevalence of neck (15%) and low backysical functioning.
The quality of life (QoL) of traffic and transit workers has been a focus of much attention; motorcyclists are the workers most susceptible to accidents and exposure to pollutants. These factors added to smoking might result in respiratory disorders and influence the workers' QoL.

To analyze the QoL of smoking or not motorcycle taxi drivers.

Longitudinal and epidemiological study with quantitative approach conducted with 95 motorcycle taxi drivers from Jatai, southeastern Goias, Brazil, in two stages in 2014 and 2015. We administered a questionnaire to collect sociodemographic and occupational data and self-perceived state of health, and WHOQOL-BREF. Statistical analysis was performed with software Statistical Package for Social Sciences
and STATA
; the significance level was set to p<0.05.

Most participants were male (98.9%), nonsmokers (89.5%), had already suffered work accidents (67.4%); their average age was 39.1 years old, and 48.5% described their state of health as good. The score on the physical health domain of QoL decreased (from 86.
