The degradation of L-tyrosine-metal complex followed the pseudo-first-order reaction kinetic. TCM, DCAA, and TCAA were the main species DBPs in the chlorination of L-tyrosine. Compared with L-tyrosine, the reaction rate constants of complex increased by 5.6%, the formation of trihalomethane production decreased by 21.5% and the formation of haloacetic acids production increased by 26.9% at the state of metal complexation. The effect of metal complexation on chlorination was more obvious than that of metal coexistence. For different metal complexation, the order of inhibition on trihalomethane production was Ca2+> Fe3+> Mn2+ and the order of promotion on haloacetic acids production was Mn2+> Fe3+> Ca2+. Moreover, it was found that alkaline conditions were favorable for the formation of DBPs due to the hydroxyl radical. The combination of ultraviolet and chlorine disinfection promoted L-Tyrosine degradation and DBPs generation, and the promotion efficiency follow the order UV/Cl2> UV-Cl2> Cl2.Few evidence-based tools exist to support identification of older community dwelling adults at risk for unwanted transitions in living environment leading to missed opportunities to modify care plans to support aging-in-place and/or establish end-of-life care goals. Results for males and females were respectively, as follows (i) horizontal HD 0.55 ± 0.06 m and 0.61 ± 0.09 m (p = 0.062; d = 0.78); vertical HD 0.68 ± 0.06 m and 0.58 ± 0.07 m (p less then 0.001; d = 1.53); and medio-lateral HD 0.22 ± 0.07 m and 0.16 ± 0.03 m (p = 0.012; d = 1.11); (ii) ƞp 0.33 ± 0.02 and 0.32 ± 0.03 (p = 0.48; d = 0.39); (iii) vCOM 1.77 ± 0.06 m∙s-1 and 1.55 ± 0.10 m∙s-1 (p less then 0.001; d = 2.42). Multiple linear regression (p = 0.019) indicated that horizontal and medio-lateral HD were able to predict np. The lower the horizontal hand displacement, the higher the ƞp.

The aim of this study is to analyse the external and internal load of professional Spanish football referees during matches, and to compare the physical demands between halves and between referees in different categories.

The physical demands on 40 professional football referees from the first and second divisions were recorded using global positioning system (GPS) technology and heart rate bands. External load (distance covered, speed, acceleration and deceleration) and internal load (perceived exertion [RPE] and heart rate [HR]) were analysed.

The referees in the first division reported lower mean HR and RPE results than those in the second division (
<0.05). The total distance covered was similar between the categories (
>0.05), but the distance covered at different speed ranges was different (
<0.05). Finally, greater reductions in performance between the first and the second halves were found in the second division referees (
<0.05).

The results of this study show differences according to the category of referee. This emphasises the need for specific training for professional referees according to their level to ensure optimal performance during matches.

Biological cohesion occurs naturally in sedimentary environments, and is caused by extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) which result from the life cycles of microorganisms. click here EPS is known to dramatically increase the resistance of natural biomediated sediment to erosive hydrodynamic forces. In this study, we test, for the first time, whether EPS can be deliberately added to a sediment to mitigate against scour erosion - a process we term 'biostabilisation'. A systematic laboratory experiment is used to investigate the effects of an EPS additive on scour erosion around a monopile in a sand substrate. Results show that increasing EPS content causes a progressive reduction in equilibrium scour depth, the volume of excavated material and the timescale required to reach equilibrium scour morphology. These parameters are linearly related to EPS content, showing that the effects of EPS on the physical processes required for erosion to occur are concentration dependent. It can be concluded that biostabilisation offers a potential new ecologically engineered, nature-based solution to a range of scour and erosion scenarios. The economic and environmental advantages are discussed, and a methodology for biostabilisation use in individual erosion mitigation scenarios is proposed.Homogeneous precipitation was proposed to prepare hydrated manganese dioxide (HMO) with KMnO4 as oxidant, NaCl as reductant and HNO3 as reaction auxiliary. HMO was applied to remove Cd(II) and the effect of contact time, initial concentration, adsorbent dose and pH value on adsorption efficiency were investigated. The removal mechanisms at various pH values were analysed in detail. Adsorption thermodynamics parameters were calculated as ΔG  0, which meant that the adsorption process was endothermic. The result of adsorption kinetics indicated the adsorption process conformed to pseudo-second-order kinetics. When adsorbing Cd(II) with initial concentration equaling 100 mg·L-1, the activation energy (Ea) was 62.740 kJ·mol-1. The Langmuir model could describe adsorption behaviour on HMO better than the Freundlich model, indicating that the adsorption sites of HMO were homogeneous and that single-layer adsorption was a dominant way in this process. The maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II) on MnO2 calculated by the Langmuir model was 267 mg·g-1. The adsorbent HMO could be recycled and reused for several times with a high efficiency above 70% by adding HCl. SEM, EDS, FTIR and XPS were used to analyse the mechanisms of removal of Cd(II) at pH = 3,7 and 10. The mechanisms included electrostatic attraction, ion exchange and chemical precipitation. With pH increasing, the zeta potential decreased and the surface negative charge increased, promoting Cd(II) removal through enhanced electrostatic attraction. Meanwhile, ion exchange mechanisms including inner-sphere complexation and outer-sphere complexation occurred during adsorption process at different pH.
To study the effect of inhaling a beta-agonist (salbutamol) compared to placebo on skiing and cycling performance in well-trained elite athletes.

Three different exercise protocols were used, all with a cross-over double blind placebo-controlled design. Participants inhaled 800 µg salbutamol or a placebo prior to the test, which was repeated on a following day with the participants inhaling the other substance. Fifteen junior elite skiers performed four free-style high intensity sprints (1100 m/work time 3.5-4.5 min). Twelve elite cyclists carried out a short cycling protocol, starting with two 5 min submaximal workloads followed by a maximal intermittent performance test to exhaustion. Another 12 elite cyclists performed the maximal intermittent performance test to exhaustion after a 150 min long submaximal cycling protocol.

Group mean time for the ski sprints increased, with no difference between treatment groups. In the short cycling protocol time to exhaustion was 9.1% (95% CI 52-161) lower after ing 800 µg salbutamol compared to placebo in skiing and high-intensity intermittent cycling performance. Instead, time to exhaustion in the maximal intermittent performance test was lower in both cycling protocols. Adopting an observer-like compared to an own eyes perspective reduces episodic information during AM recall, but less is known regarding how viewpoint influences semantic information. In the current study, we investigated how shifting from an own eyes to an observer-like perspective during narrative recall of AMs influences episodic and semantic information. Shifting perspective reduced the number of episodic details associated with emotions and thoughts, and also led to similar reductions in personal semantics. We replicated prior research showing that shifting perspective reduces emotional intensity in subsequent memories, but these subjective changes were not coupled with objective changes in a narrative recall. Our findings suggest that shifting perspective influences the interplay between episodic and semantic information during proximate recall and subjective changes when memories are later recalled.
