ss the effects of Qu-Chi.NPs against other metallic and organic oxidative stressors or pollutants. BACKGROUND Pregnancy complications, such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), have a great impact on public health. Exposure to ambient air pollution during pregnancy may cause pregnancy complications. The aim of our study is to explore the risk of trimester-specific maternal exposure to air pollutants on complications of pregnancy. METHODS PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane were systematically searched for cohort studies published before October 27, 2019 which reported the association between ambient air pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, CO, NO, NO2, NOx, O3, and SO2) and pregnancy complications (GDM, HDP, preeclampsia, and gestational hypertension) during different exposure windows. A meta-analysis was applied to combine relative risks (RRs) and their confidence intervals (CIs) from eligible studies. Quality assessment was conducted and Egger test was used to evaluate the publication bias. All statistical analyses were performed by STATA software (Version 15ranted in the future research. A robust prediction of U(VI) on Fe3O4/activated carbon (Fe3O4/AC, fabricated by co-precipitation method under N2 conditions) under different pH was developed via diffuse layer model, in accordance with FI-IR, XRD and XPS analysis. No influence of ionic strength onto U(VI) adsorption by Fe3O4/AC under ambient conditions suggested the inner-sphere surface adsorption, which was attributed to abundant surficial functional groups according to FT-IR and XPS analysis. The batch experiments indicated Fe3O4/AC with fast adsorption rate (equilibrium within 60 min), high adsorption capacity (56 mg/g at pH 4.0) towards U(VI). The adsorbed U(VI) was partly reduced by Fe2+ of Fe3O4/AC by XPS analysis. Surface complexation modeling showed that a single set of monodentate and mononuclear species (SOUO2+) cannot predict U(VI) adsorption at high pH, whereas the robust prediction of U(VI) adsorption over wide pH range was observed by adding the other binuclear and tridentate species ((SO)2UO2(CO3)6-). These findings revealed that magnetic AC as a candidate for immobilization and/or preconcentration of radioactive wastewater in environment management. Low-cost air quality sensors are increasingly being used in many applications; however, many of their performance characteristics have not been adequately investigated. This study was conducted over a period of 13 months using low-cost air quality monitors, each comprising two low-cost sensors, which were subjected to a wide range of pollution sources and concentrations, relative humidity and temperature at four locations in Australia and China. The aim of the study was to establish the performance characteristics of the two low-cost sensors (a Plantower PMS1003 for PM2.5 and an Alphasense CO-B4 for carbon monoxide, CO) and the KOALA monitor as a whole under various conditions. Parameters evaluated included the inter-variability between individual monitors, the accuracy of monitors in comparison with the reference instruments, the effect of temperature and RH on the performance of the monitors, the responses of the PM2.5 sensors to different types of aerosols, and the long-term stability of the PM2.5 and CO sensors. The monitors showed high inter-correlations (r > 0.91) for both PM2.5 and CO measurements. The monitor performance varied with location, with moderate to good correlations with reference instruments for PM2.5 (0.44 less then R2 less then 0.91) and CO (0.37 less then R2 less then 0.90). The monitors performed well at relative humidity less then 75% and high temperature conditions; however, two monitors in Beijing failed at low temperatures, probably due to electronic board failure. The PM2.5 sensor was less sensitive to marine aerosols and fresh vehicle emissions than to mixed urban background emissions, aged traffic emissions and industrial emissions. The long-term stability of the PM2.5 and CO sensors was good, while CO relative errors were affected by both high and low temperatures. Overall, the KOALA monitors performed well in the environments in which they were operated and provided a valuable contribution to long-term air quality monitoring within the elucidated limitations. Evaluating the characteristics of exposure to mainstream cigarette smoke is an essential field in tobacco research because of the large risk burden among smokers. Detailed evaluation of the complex factors pertaining to the exposure of smokers to mainstream cigarette smoke was attempted by analysis of discarded cigarette butts. A total of 5475 samples of discarded cigarette butts was collected to investigate the exposure characteristics in relation to Korean smokers. The basic physico-chemical characteristics of cigarettes, including the filter length, filter type, menthol addition, and nicotine and tar content, were determined and the manufacturer and cigarette size were identified. The tobacco-burned percentage (TBP)) and tar staining were used as physical markers, and actual human exposure to cigarette smoke was determined using the part filter method. Multiple linear regression analyses and generalized ordinal logistic regression analysis were conducted to identify the relationship between the socio-demogtors such as age group and occupational group, as well as the physico-chemical properties of cigarette products such as the filter type and length, cigarette size, ISO tar and nicotine content, and mentholation, affect the characteristics of exposure of Korean smokers to mainstream cigarette smoke. As important pollution gases and represented precursors of both ozone and second organic aerosol (SOA), the component characteristics, source origins, environmental health and emission control of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), are gaining more and more attention in Chinese megacities. In order to understand the concentration, composition and temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of VOCs in the atmosphere of Chengdu, a megacity located in Sichuan basin in southwest China, the offline sampling measurements of VOCs were carried out at 28 different field sites covering all the districts and counties of Chengdu during special periods from May 2016 to January 2017. Speciated VOCs measurement was performed by the GC-FID/MS, and 99 species were identified. The averaged total VOC mixing ratios of each sampling site were in the range from 35.03 to 180.57 ppbv. Based on these observational data, the distribution characteristics of VOCs in different months and different regions of Chengdu were clarified. see more The VOCs data were used to estimate the potential amount of ozone, secondary aerosol formation and health risk assessment in Chengdu.
