Choosing a Stroller That's Right For You
A stroller is an often foldable four-wheeled carriage that small children are pushed in. It's a great option to take a relaxing run or stroll in the park.
Kidsland offers a variety of single and dual strollers. Our store best sellers include the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat/Stroller.
How to Select a Stroller
Strollers can be a parent's best friend. They allow parents to easily transport their children around town, discover the outdoors or stroll through busy shopping malls. However, selecting the best stroller for your child and your family's needs is vital for a smooth ride. Think about where and how often you'll use the stroller to select one that is suitable for you. Will it have to handle rough terrain, fit in a trunk for a car that's small, or maneuver through doors that are narrow? Consider whether you will be taking it on city walks or out in the woods. Once you've settled on the type of stroller you want and features you'd like to have you can test drive various models.
Start with a few laps around the parking lot to get familiar with the way it handles and maneuvers. If you plan to use it for jogging, test the durability of the wheels and how they perform on uneven and bumpy pavements. Choose if you'd like a basket to store your essentials or a recliner chair for newborns. Also, ensure that the handlebars are at an appropriate height to allow you to walk comfortably and that there's enough space in the seat to hold the size of a child.
If you're planning to have more children in the near future, you may want to consider a single stroller that can be transformed into a double stroller, or a stroller board for toddlers. Babylist parents tell us that one of their biggest regrets with strollers is not buying a convertible model when they had the opportunity.
If you intend to use the stroller during the rainy season or other weather conditions, make sure that accessories like sun umbrellas and rain covers can be put on quickly and easily. Be sure to consider safety. Look for a five point harness system that is easy to buckle and unbuckle and secure seating and strong brakes. Also, look over the hinges to ensure there are no sharp edges or areas where a small finger could get stuck. Verify that the stroller meets the safety requirements of your state and local laws. Then, test it with your child to make sure you're both in a good place.
Strollers for One Child
It is possible that you only need one stroller if have a single child. These strollers are typically smaller than the larger ones and come with the same safety features. They also have an enormous canopy that shields your child from the sun and wind. They're also generally more mobile and have fewer components that may break.
If your child is still in an infant seat, a stroller with an infant carrier included is a good option. These strollers have sturdy frames that can accommodate several seats, or even a second car seat. They are generally simpler to use and are less expensive upfront than convertible or double strollers.
An all-in-one stroller can also be a great option for older babies. These strollers typically have a big, spacious basket which can be used to store the child's items and accommodate most diaper bags. They are also easy to maneuver and narrow enough to fit inside a bathroom stall or doorway. Plus, they fold easily and can be put in a closet or behind the seat of the car for quick transport.
Consider a convertible stroller if you are looking to expand your stroller with your family. These strollers come with frames that can hold two toddler seats or even an infant bassinet (carriers and adapters are available separately). They're typically more expensive than single-seat strollers however, they're an excellent investment for families who want to move around with ease and are flexible in seating. The UPPAbaby Vista v2 is our top recommendation for a top-quality convertible stroller with top features and can carry up to three children with ease (age-dependent).
Strollers for Two Children
If you have two small children A double stroller is a must to transport them both at the same time. There are a variety of options available, including tandems, side-byside strollers and wagons. Many of the dual-strollers that we tested can accommodate a second child's seat, or a third if you add a piggybackboard (sold separately). three wheeled pram are available in different designs to accommodate different levels of ages and ages. However they're generally larger and heavier than side-byside models.
Parents of twins want a double stroller that has the same seating arrangement as their children. They'll also need one that can accommodate two infant car seats simultaneously which is something only a few of our top-rated double strollers offer. Twins who are close in age or abilities may be better off using a tandem stroller, but the seating arrangement will also depend on the distance between them in terms of age and what features each prefers.
In our tests, all the tandem strollers we tested were easy to maneuver with a big turning radius. They did not turn as well in tight spaces as a single stroller and could be difficult to maneuver around curbs. The majority of side-by-side strollers that we tested fit through doors that are standard. However, they could have a narrower aisle than a single stroller.
A few strollers that we tested worked with a second toddler seat, however, they did not allow you to swap seats in and out which could be beneficial if your children are at opposite age groups. The UPPAbaby Vista Double is an exception to this rule, and allows you to easily change between double and single mode using its convertible frame.
Side-by-side strollers are among the most popular model in our double stroller category, and we've tested some of the best options that are available. They're all spacious with storage space and allow you to keep both children in your sight. Some have parent consoles that help you keep track of your child's wants and needs. They're generally more expensive than a single stroller, however, some come with price tags that are comparable to or less than our best single strollers.
Strollers for three children
You'll need to locate the perfect stroller for your children If you have three (or two older twins and one singleton). This is a major purchase, so it's a good idea to research and search for a model that will suit your family's size, lifestyle and budget.
For a triple stroller that can grow with your kids consider the Graco Ready2Grow LX. It comes with a front seat that can hold infant car seats or bassinets, and a rear bench seat that converts to a toddler seat for children who are over 6 months of age. The seat can be used as a platform that can be used as a standing one for toddlers and you can also use the parent tray that comes with cup holders and storage compartments.
Another excellent triple stroller option is the Joovy Big Caboose. It comes with two car seat-compatible, forward-facing, reclining seats that fit kids up to 32 inches tall. You can then add the rear seat accessory to convert it into an all-in-one stroller with a third regular seat for your child's oldest. This model is ideal for twins or siblings who are close in age. The older child will sit on the front seat, while the younger child will be in the rear.
Many parents choose quad strollers which is essentially double stroller with an additional seat in the back. While these models are not easy to maneuver in tight spaces, they offer more seating options than a standard double. One good choice is the Foundations Trio Sport 4-Person Stroller that is inexpensive and has received excellent reviews from parents who have used it.
Strollers can be used to transport your children and offer them a safe, comfortable place to relax while you're out. But when it comes time to purchase a new stroller, you should know the distinctions between single and double strollers to find the right model for your family. Regardless of which model you choose it is essential to choose an item that is compliant with US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards and features an ergonomic handlebar that is easy to push and steer for long durations of time.
