Single Buggy For Sale
The prams that parents choose to use can be a reflection of their parenting style. The choice of a pram is not only an investment, but also an indicator of status.
When Kari Boiler came back from Amsterdam with 15 Bugaboo Frogs stacked in her Manhattan Beach garage, she had an ambitious plan for the frogs. She wanted to get them into the hands of influential, visible parents.
What is a single buggy?
A single buggy, also referred to as a sleigh or a Sleigh-like carriage, is a four-wheeled lightweight carriage that's usually pulled by ONE horse. It is frequently used by Amish people, and is also known as a Sleigh. Families usually opt for a single buggy because it allows them to move around with ease.
Since 1998, Phil&teds has been at forefront of technological advancement. Our stroller and double kit(tm) bundles provide a range of options that can be used in all family situations.
Sport(tm) is a fantastic single buggy from the beginning can protect your money and secure your family. Voyager(tm), can be adapted to carry two (or three!) - all done in the footprint of a single buggy!
Types of single buggies
A buggy that is lightweight can be an ideal option for parents who travel frequently or plan to use public transport with their child, or take a trip on vacation. They usually weigh less than 6kg and fold up compactly which means they can be carried in the overhead compartments of flights. They are also easy to maneuver making them perfect for city travel. A lot of them come with a sunshade and raincover that are worth the investment to keep your baby happy at any time!
A jogger buggy is equipped with large BMX wheels and is specifically designed for exercise. It will have a good suspension that can absorb the bumps, bounces and other ill effects of off-road use. It can be difficult to control a jogger buggie because the front wheels could swivel. Locking this wheel is important when crossing roads or putting on kerbs.
A few buggies are reversible. This allows the seat to face forward or backward (also known as parent-facing). This is perfect for babies who are fussy and prefer to be able to see their parents. Some models are only forward-facing, therefore they're better for older babies who don't like to be interrupted.
Alternately, there are tandem buggies, which are designed to accommodate two children of similar age side by side. This can be useful for families with twins or babies born close together but can be difficult to steer, especially in narrow spaces. Some tandem buggies include an adjustable mechanism on each seat so that your child can lie flat while you push them.
The ideal single-buggy will depend on the size of your family, budget and lifestyle. You should consider a buggy that is lightweight and features a seat that is able to be used from the time of birth. If 3 wheel pushchair looking to proof your wallet consider a single buggy that will transform into a double-sized buggy when the time comes. Phil&teds invented the first inline buggy and now provide a wide selection of double kit and stroller bundles to help you achieve this.
A single buggy purchase
A new buggy is an expensive purchase. The majority of pushchairs with bassinets for newborn babies can cost upwards of PS700. This is quite a bit for parents on a the tightest budget.
A majority of families buy at least two buggies, unless they live in a large city with easy access public transport or have ample car storage. They also tend to spend their weekends in dirty parks. One sturdy buggy that is able to be used on rough terrain, transport massive loads and grow with your family, and another lightweight travel buggy to be used on holidays or in tight spaces like public transport and busy streets.
We recommend purchasing a single buggy that you love, and then selling it when your child grows old enough and you're required to upgrade to a double. So you don't end up with a gimmick that you don't really require.
Double buggy: Buying one
You need to think about the many aspects of buying a double buggy, from the cost to the type of reclined positions available. Also, consider whether you require a large basket or the type of suspension the buggy has. It is also important to consider what features you want the buggy to have such as sunshades and rain covers as well as snack tray.
There are a myriad of double buggies that are available on the market. The right one for you will depend on the person who will use it, your lifestyle and your budget. If you are expecting twins, or have a toddler who is newborn, you might want an easier-to-use stroller that can grow with your family. UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a great example of this, offering 30 different seating configurations for all different ages. It can be used as a single stroller from birth, and then converted to a side-by-side model when your children get older. It can also be used with a third child when the Ride-Along Piggyback Board is added to make it a great option for families with multiple children.
Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 is a different option. This is one the slimmest double buggies you can find and has a footprint almost the same size as one buggie. It features two seats that face the world with independently reclining options that can be converted to a lie-flat position. It can be adapted to accommodate two carrycots or cocoons and two baby car seats, so it can take twins or children of various age groups.
It's easy to fold and can be done using just one hand thanks to the twist mechanism on the handle. It's compact and lightweight however, it's not as small as the Cybex Gazelle S. It has a smooth brake and an excellent suspension making it easy to push over rough surfaces. The seats are cushioned, and the harness straps are strong which makes them comfortable for your children to sit in.
