In conclusion, SBM and CM were more effective than RSM at maintaining crop yield, economic growth, and soil quality.The Somali Sengi or Somali Elephant-shrew ('Elephantulus' revoilii, Macroscelidea, Mammalia) has been considered a "lost species" and is primarily known from about 39 museum specimens, with no new vouchered occurrence records since the early 1970s. The scientific literature contains no data concerning living Somali Sengi individuals and the species' current Data Deficient conservation status is attributable to an absence of modern information. Almost everything that has been published about the species is derived from anatomical examinations of historic specimens, gleaned from museum collection notes, or inferred from the known habits and ecology of other sengi taxa. Here we report new evidence that the Somali Sengi is currently extant. These data include voucher specimens, georeferenced occurrence localities, body measurements, habitat parameters, and DNA sequences. While the species is historically documented as endemic to Somalia, these new records are from the neighboring Republic of Djibouti and thus expa for more than 5.4 million years-and the recognition of the species' phylogenetic ancestry appends the already remarkable biogeographic story of the Macroscelidini tribe.Thymol is a substance with a great therapeutic potential possessing antibacterial and antifungal activity, with a characteristic odour that remains long after application but is not pleasant at higher concentrations. In this study, attention has been focused on describing the chemical and biological properties of the simply prepared trimethylsilyl ether of thymol (kubicin). Interestingly, kubicin has similar volatility as thymol, undergoes hydrolysis in the water (moisture; forming thymol and trimethylsilanol) and can be used at 6,000 times higher concentration than thymol without any negative and irritating odour. Kubicin showed diverse fungistatic and fungicidal activities when tested by direct contact assay, or in vapour phase. The volatile vapour of kubicin was effective on all tested fungal strains. These results suggest that vapours of kubicin might provide an alternative way to fight against fungal contamination.
Factors that influence the outcomes after deceased-donor liver transplantation (DDLT) for primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) are not well known. We aimed to clarify these effects on the outcomes after DDLT.

We retrospectively analyzed patients with PBC who underwent DDLT from March 2006 to July 2018 at the organ transplantation center of the First Hospital of Jilin University and the First Central Hospital of Tianjin. Changes in liver function were assessed posttransplantation. Recurrence, survival rate, and complications were recorded at follow-up. The effect of liver transplantation on survival and recurrence was evaluated using univariate and/or multivariate Cox regression analyses.

In total, 69 patients with PBC undergoing DDLT were included in this study. At 4 weeks posttransplant, all liver function tests were normal. During a median follow-up time of 32 months, 5-year overall survival and recurrence rates were estimated as 95.1% and 21.8%, respectively. Assess feasibility and interexaminer reliability of a new test of contrast sensitivity (CS) for pediatric populations.
