Conclusions As scarce hospital resources are diverted to COVID-19 care and staff are redeployed to forward-facing roles, endonasal procedures have largely ceased, leaving patients with ongoing sinonasal and skull base complaints untreated. Skull base teams now weigh the urgency of surgery in this population with the regional availability of resources. Implications for practice The COVID-19 pandemic will have an enduring and unpredictable impact on hospital operations and surgical skull base practices and will require a dynamic set of management protocols responsive to new evidence and changing resources. In the current resource-limited environment, clinicians may utilize these protocols to assist with stratifying patients by acuity, performing preoperative assessment, and guiding peri- and postoperative care.Latest developments in the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine compiled from publicly available information and press releases from nonacademic institutions in March 2020.Response to intervention (RTI) has been promoted for nearly 20 years as a valid supplement to or alternative method of learning disability (LD) identification. Nevertheless, important unresolved questions remain about its role in disability identification. We had two purposes when conducting this study of 229 economically and racially diverse poor readers in Grades 4 and 5 in 28 public elementary and middle schools in Nashville. First, we examined predictors of the children's response to a reading comprehension tutoring program. Second, we explored the utility of different methods (growth vs final status) and measures (near- and mid-transfer vs far-transfer) in operationalizing "response," and whether these contrasting methods and measures identified similar children. Findings indicated students with higher pretreatment scores on expressive vocabulary, nonverbal IQ, teacher ratings of attention, and reading comprehension measures were more likely classified as responsive with final status methods. Students with lower pretreatment comprehension scores were more likely identified as responsive with growth methods. These and other findings suggest "response" is strongly context dependent, raising questions about the validity of RTI as a means of disability identification.Aim Coronary slow flow (SF) is an important complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) associated with poor prognosis. The aim was to assess grey-scale intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and virtual histology (VH-IVUS) characteristics of culprit lesion in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Methods A total of 295 consecutive patients with STEMI underwent coronary angiogram and IVUS. Following PCI, patients divided into two groups; SF (thrombolysis in myocardial infarction [TIMI] flow ≤ 2, n = 74) and normal flow (NF) (TIMI flow >2, n = 221). Coronary plaque burden and its composition in relation to SF were evaluated. Results On grey-scale IVUS, the plaque area (12.3 mm2 vs. 11.5 mm2, p = .01), plaque volume (110.7 mm3 vs. 99.8 mm3, p less then .001), lesion external elastic membrane (EEM) cross-sectional area (14.9 mm2 vs. 14.0 mm2, p = .011) and remodelling index (1.3 vs. 1.2, p = .043) were significantly higher in SF group. On VH-IVUS, absolute fibrous volume (48.1 mm3 vs. 41.5 mm3, p ≤ .001), fibrofatty volume (23.8 mm3 vs. 18.6 mm3, p = .015), necrotic core volume (8.3 mm3 vs. 5.5 mm3, p less then .001), dense calcium volume (1.2 mm3 vs. 0.6 mm3, p = .003) and thin cap fibroatheroma either single (30.1% vs. 16.1%, p less then .001) or multiple (9.6% vs. 1.8%, p less then .001) were higher in SF arm. In multivariable analysis, absolute necrotic core volume (odds ratio = 1.159; 95% CI 1.030-1.305, p = .015) was the only independent predictor of SF.Conclusions Higher necrotic core volume as detected by VH-IVUS may be a potential risk factor for the development of coronary SF phenomenon in patients with STEMI after PCI.Colletotrichum asianum is a worldwide plant pathogen causing serious fruit or leaf anthracnose diseases on a variety of plant hosts such as mango, coffee berry, chili, and other potential hosts, and it is distributed widely in Asia, America, Africa, and Oceania. This is the first genome resource available for C. asianum. The draft genome assembly will allow further analysis of species diversity and evolutionary mechanisms, and may serve as a foundation for genetic analysis that leads to greater understanding of interactions between plants and fungal pathogens.Longstanding research suggests a positive relation between physical activity and health. However, when investigating this relation most studies focused on the absence of disease or infirmity as health indicators. The relation between physical activity and positive health-related constructs such as subjective well-being (SWB) remains oftentimes unexplored. The present meta-analysis offers a rigorous test of the relation between physical activity and SWB in healthy individuals, by including all different kinds of physical activity and SWB facets from childhood to old age. Random-effects meta-analysis using robust variance estimation revealed a positive relation (d = 0.360, 95% CI [0.301, 0.420]). Our results demonstrate a small beneficial main effect of physical activity on SWB, independent of the prior fitness level of the participants and various characteristics of the physical activity intervention. This effect was found in experimental studies as well as in correlational and quasi-experimental studies. Delanzomib ic50 Physical activity was more strongly related to positive affect compared to cognitive well-being and was unrelated to negative affect. Our results provide evidence for the importance of physical activity in the context of well-being. Further, we also systematically review and discuss the large heterogeneity of studies published on this relation and warrant further research regarding underlying mechanisms.Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the osteogenic potential of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and to assess the influence of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) on bone regeneration using ADSCs. Materials & methods Bone defects were randomly allocated to the five treatment modalities spontaneous healing, natural bovine bone mineral (BBM), BBM loaded with PRGF, BBM loaded with ADSCs and BBM loaded with a combination of ADSCs and PRGF. Results The PRGF significantly enhanced the biomaterial-to-bone contact. Defects treated with ADSCs and PRGF or a combination of both showed the greatest bone regeneration. Conclusion Combining PRGF and ADSCs boosts the bone graft regenerative potential at the earliest period of healing. The role of radiotherapy (RT) in the management of advanced Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) is inadequately defined in this era of functional imaging with PET scan. SWOG-S0816 treated advanced stage Hodgkin lymphoma patients with ABVD+/- escBEACOPP and no RT. We queried whether RT might have benefited patients in S0816 who would have met the GHSG-HD15 criteria for RT by simulating RT use as per HD15 criteria of PET + residual disease ≥2.5 cm. Receiver-operating-characteristics analyses were performed by varying disease-control rates within radiation fields and size cutoffs for residual disease. Among the 49 PET3+ S0816 patients, RT would have raised the 2-year PFS from 30.6% to 50.2-58.1% using three residual disease cutoffs (1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 cm) and assuming 80 and 90% in-field control rates . Although there may be improvement in PFS as size cutoff point is lowered, consequential toxicities from RT require further definition to assess relative benefits. How prevalent is dyslexia? A definitive answer to this question has been elusive because of the continuous distribution of reading performance and predictors of dyslexia and because of the heterogeneous nature of samples of poor readers. Samples of poor readers are a mixture of individuals whose reading is consistent with or expected based on their performance in other academic areas and in language, and individuals with dyslexia whose reading is not consistent with or expected based on their other performances. In the present article, we replicate and extend a new approach for determining the prevalence of dyslexia. Using model-based meta-analysis and simulation, three main results were found. First, the prevalence of dyslexia is better represented as a distribution that varies as a function of severity as opposed to any single-point estimate. Second, samples of poor readers will contain more expected poor readers than unexpected or dyslexic readers. Third, individuals with dyslexia can be found across the reading spectrum as opposed to only at the lower tail of reading performance. These results have implications for screening and identification, and for recruiting participants for scientific studies of dyslexia.Advancing teacher candidates' overall competence through use of valid teacher observation systems should be an essential element of teacher preparation. Yet, the field of special education has not provided observation protocols designed specifically for preservice teachers that are founded in theoretical perspectives and research on effective instruction for students with learning and other high-incidence disabilities (SWDs). To address this need, a group of researchers in special education teacher preparation and measurement developed the Preservice Observation Instrument for Special Education (POISE). The POISE is an observation system rooted in effective special education practices that support the growth of preservice teachers who will serve SWD across instructional settings. The purpose of this article is to report on the development and psychometric properties of the POISE. Specifically, we employed Kane's argument-based validity approach to frame each stage in the development process of the POISE. We conducted two phases of content validation activities, development activities, and a pilot study to assess the degree to which scores from POISE provided evidence for the scoring, generalizability, and extrapolation inferences. In the end, the POISE represents a promising observation instrument for the development of special education teacher candidates. Background Adolescents and young adults with cancer sit in a precarious position facing an increasing cancer incidence while incidence in other age groups has been declining. A cancer diagnosis at this age imposes undue distress in a demographic with limited coping resources creating psychosocial needs that differ from children and older adults. Addressing psychosocial needs early in the cancer trajectory is postulated as an approach to address distress, improve quality of life, and promote optimal outcomes from therapy. The purpose of this review is to identify current successful approaches to psychosocial care in adolescents and young adults receiving therapy for cancer. Method An integrative review of publications identified through six relevant databases was conducted. Thematic analysis was performed to identify types of interventions followed by assessment of publication level of evidence, quality, and a critique of the effectiveness of interventions. Findings A total of 6,292 articles were identified and 17 met inclusion criteria for this review.
