Four patients (9.3%) died in the hospital because of acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis after readmission. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, postoperative refractory air leakage, defined as prolonged air leakage lasting > 5days or requiring reoperation, was identified as a significant predictor associated with an increased risk of readmission (odds ratio 2.87; 95% confidence interval 1.22-6.72; p = 0.015).

Unexpected readmission was an inevitable event following lung resection. Patients with readmission had an increased risk of death. Refractory air leakage after lung resection for primary lung cancer was strongly associated with unexpected readmission.

Therefore, the present study was conducted to verify the presence or absence of formaldehyde and ammonia in fish and other seafoods that are commercially important for India, which are obtained from fish markets in Chennai. The present investigation results reveal contamination with formaldehyde and ammonia of commercially important fish and other seafoods collected from fish markets in Chennai. Formaldehyde was detected in 100% of samples in N4 Beach fish market, 93.33% of samples in Chintadripet fish market, 80.77% of samples in Vanagaram fish market, 68% of samples in Pattinapakkam fish market, and 58.33% of samples in Kasimedu fish market. Ammonia was detected in 100% of fish samples in N4 Beach, Chintadripet, Pattinapakkam, and Kasimedu fish market. Since formaldehyde and ammonia are harmful to human health, there is a need to develop a more suitable technology to extend the shelf life of the fish and other seafoods during transport and storage for longer preservation. Strict regulations should be made to control the usage of these harmful chemical substances.
H type tracheoesophageal fistula (H-TEF) is a rare congenital anomaly. Management may be complicated by late diagnosis and variation(s) in the therapeutic strategy. A systematic review of published studies explores the utility of diagnostic studies, operations and postoperative complications.

Medline and PubMed database(s) were searched for ALL studies reporting H-TEF during 1997-2020. Using PRISMA methodology, manuscripts were screened for eligibility and reporting.

Forty-seven eligible studies were analysed. Primary diagnosis varied widely with surgeons performing oesophagography and trachea-bronchoscopy. Preoperativelocalisation techniques included fluoroscopy, guidewire placement and catheterisation. A cervical approach (209 of 272 cases), as well as thoracotomy, thoracoscopy and endoscopic fistula ligation, were all described. Morbidity included fistula recurrence (1.7%), leak (2%), tracheomalacia (3.4%) and respiratory sequelae (1%). The major adverse complication in all studies was vocal cord palsy secondary to laryngeal nerve injury (18.5%) yet strikingly few centres routinely reported undertaking vocal cord screening pre or postoperatively.

This study shows that paediatric surgeons record low volume activity with H type tracheoesophageal fistula. Variation(s) in clinical practice are widely evident. Laryngeal nerve injury and its subsequent management warrant special consideration. Care pathways may offset attendant morbidity and define 'best practice.'

Two hundred and forty (240) goat farmers were surveyed and their uses of different leaves of trees and shrubs for supplementing their goats documented in two vegetation zones, namely the Sudano-Guinean and Guineo-Congolese zones. Then, samples of 32 leaves were collected at the end of rainy season in October-November, just before the long dry season and analyzed for their chemical composition, in vitro digestibility, and tannin content. Principal component and cluster analyses were performed to identify homogenous groups of leaves on the basis of their nutritional characteristics. Free grazing on natural perennial grasses with supplementation with leaves of trees and shrubs was the main goat feeding practice during the dry season in both zones. Agro-processing by-products were used as feed supplements mainly in the Guineo-Congolese zone. Most of the leaves of trees and shrubs elicited by the surveyed goat farmers had a crude protein content higher than 15%, sufficient for their use as feed supplements. However, this potential could be limited by their high tannin content. One non-native (Gliricidia sepium) and five native shrub species (Ficus thonningii, Antiaris africana, Phyllanthus discoideus, Morinda lucida, Mallotus oppositifolius) were identified as the most promising for supplementing goats during dry season in both zones. check details Our study was useful in identifying some underutilized and neglected leaves of trees and shrubs that could be recommended to smallholder goat farmers in agroforestry systems for enhancing animal productivities in small-scale farms.
To determine the immediate pain-relieving effect of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt) in patients with oral ulcers of chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) refractory to first line therapy with topical corticosteroids.

This retrospective study included all patients who underwent PBMt for pain relief of refractory oral cGVHD lesions. PBMt was applied using an intraoral approach to all sites with mucosal lesions, using a 940 nm InGaAsP diode laser device, with the following parameters pulsed modulation (duty cycle of 50%), power 0.7 W, illuminated spot size 7.1 cm
, irradiance 98.6 mW/cm
, and irradiation time 90 s per point. Pain was self-assessed using a 0-to-10 scale immediately before and after PBMt.

Data from eleven patients with a total of 56 PBMt sessions were analyzed. In 48 (85.7%) sessions, the patients reported less pain immediately after treatment, with a reduction of ≥ 50% of the initial pain level in 43 (76.8%) sessions. Mean pre- and post-treatment pain levels were 5.20 ±2.7 and 1.38 ±2.
