Chemical looping reforming of CH4 coupled with CO2 reduction is a novel technology for the utilization of CH4 and CO2. Here, we report a durable and outstanding LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3/S-1 oxygen carrier at lower operating temperature to efficiently convert CH4 and utilize CO2. LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 showed a high CH4 reaction rate (7.0 × 10-7 mol·(g·s)-1), CO selectivity (84.2%), and CO yield (0.045 mol·g-1) at 800 °C. However, the reactivity of LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 reduced quickly with the redox cycles. The introduction of Silicalite-1 promoted the performance of the LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 perovskite oxygen carrier during the redox cycles. It can be attributed to the fact that under heat treatment, the LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 particles grew along the edge of Silicalite-1 and the LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 nanoparticles were homogeneously dispersed on the Silicalite-1 surface, which improved the thermal stability and reactivity of the oxygen carrier. In addition, the interface between Silicalite-1 and LaFe0.8Co0.15Cu0.05O3 nanoparticles also played important roles because the porous structure of Silicalite-1 could reduce the mass transfer restriction of the interface. In addition, Silicalite-1 also possessed high CH4 and CO2 adsorption selectivity, leading to higher reactivity.Racism is as ubiquitous as the air we breathe and the water we drink. This special section highlights burgeoning research examining White youth's development in a racist society. This research is urgent given the current political context in the United States. Although promising, developmental science needs to catch up with the groundbreaking research being conducted on Whiteness in other disciplines. Developmental science requires a conceptual reset with the utilization of theories that center racism in youth development acknowledging the privileged status of Whiteness. Developmental science should acknowledge that racism is a universal influence for all youth's development, including White youth. The regulation of photochemical properties of phototheranostics, especially the absorption, fluorescence, singlet oxygen (1O2) generation, and photothermal conversion efficiency, is a hot research topic. Here, we designed and synthesized four boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives with high absorption coefficients and intense fluorescence in the near-infrared (NIR) region. The substituted electron-donating group significantly improved 1O2 generation and fluorescence of BODIPYs, whereas the electron-withdrawing group boosts photothermal conversion. These hydrophobic BODIPYs were further coated with DSPE-PEG-2000 to form water dispersible nanoparticles (NPs). Among these BODIPY NPs, the B-OMe-NPs with methoxyl substituted at the meso-position showed the highest 1O2 generation, a photothermal conversion efficiency of 66.5%, and an NIR fluorescence peak at 809 nm. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that B-OMe-NPs might be used for NIR fluorescent and photoacoustic imaging-guided photodynamic and photothermal therapy of cancer. With the high demand for a healthy diet, it is necessary and important to explore natural sweeteners used in food that enhance palatability but minimize calories. Citrus is considered a good potential source of noncaloric sweeteners, but to date, only one sweetness modulator has been found in this most common fruit crop. Herein, an efficient strategy based on an in-house database and the untargeted and targeted metabolomics analyses was proposed to screen sweeteners or sweet-enhancing compounds from citrus. Eight sweeteners or sweetness-enhancing compounds were screened out, seven of which were newly identified from the genus Citrus. Surprisingly, we identified naturally occurring oxime V, which previously was only known as a synthetic compound. The contents of five compounds, in 11 citrus cultivars or unreleased selections across two production years, were compared. Successful identification of these natural sweeteners and sweetness-enhancing compounds in citrus fruit indicated the potential to identify the relevant biosynthetic pathways and to breed new citrus cultivars containing these compounds that provided both palatability and lower sugar consumption. This study also demonstrated that the proposed metabolomics-based screening strategy could greatly boost the identification of taste modulators with low contents in natural resources.A new sodium hydroxyfluorooxoborate, NaB3O4F(OH) (NBOFH), was discovered and synthesized. NBOFH features the unprecedented [B3O4F(OH)] infinite chain constructed by the novel fundamental building block (FBB) of [B3O5F(OH)]. NBOFH has a large birefringence of 0.097 at 1064 nm and short ultraviolet (UV) cutoff edge below 200 nm. First-principles calculations and response electron distribution anisotropy (REDA) were performed to explain the structure-property relationships. This work provides a novel strategy for the synthesis of deep-ultraviolet birefringent crystals and enriches the structural diversity of the emerging hydroxyfluorooxoborates.
Cardiometabolic diseases and metabolic syndrome (MetS) are becoming increasingly prevalent in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Cardiometabolic diseases and MetS are closely associated with low-grade systemic inflammation, which may be modified by diet. Previous studies have focused on the association of dietary inflammation with MetS and cardiometabolic risk in adult populations, but few studies have examined this issue in children, especially in LMICs.

We conducted a cross-sectional study to explore the association of dietary inflammation with cardiometabolic risk components and MetS in urban Ecuadorian children aged 6-12 years old (n = 276). A semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was used to collect data on child dietary intake. Dietary inflammation was evaluated using an energy-adjusted Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII), divided into quartiles. Data were also collected on cardiometabolic risk indicators including blood lipids, blood pressure (BP), blood glucose, body mass index, progression to conditions such as hypertension and atherosclerosis.
The findings suggest that more pro-inflammatory diets may contribute to poorer cardiometabolic health in school-age children. This is important because even small increases in child blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and glucose levels over time can damage health and lead to earlier progression to conditions such as hypertension and atherosclerosis.Ovarian tissue cryopreservation by vitrification is an effective technique, but there are still many unresolved issues related to the procedure. The aim of this study was to investigate the optimal culture time of postwarmed ovarian tissues and their viability before ovarian tissue transplantation. The bovine ovarian tissues were used to evaluate the effect of postwarming culture periods (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, and 24 h) in the levels of residual cryoprotectant, LDH release, ROS generation, gene and protein abundance, and follicle viability and its mitochondrial membrane potential. Residual cryoprotectant concentration decreased significantly after 1 h of culture. The warmed ovarian tissues that underwent between 0 and 2 h of culture time showed similar LDH and ROS levels compared with fresh nonfrozen tissues. The anti-Mullerian hormone transcript abundance did not differ in any of the groups. No increase in the relative transcript abundance and protein level of Caspase 3 and Cleaved-Caspase 3, respectively, in the first 2 h of culture after warming. On the other hand, an increased protein level of double stranded DNA breaks (gamma-H2AX) was observed in postwarmed tissues disregarding the length of culture time, and a temporary reduction in pan-AKT was detected in postwarming tissues between 0 and 0.25 h of culture time. Prolonged culture time lowered the percentage of viable follicles in warmed tissues, but it did not seem to affect the follicular mitochondrial membrane potential. In conclusion, 1-2 h of culture time would be optimal for vitrified-warmed tissues before transplantation. The transition from adolescence to adulthood is a challenging time marked by rapid changes in relational connections, housing status, and academic or work trajectories. We emphasize how structural inequality shapes racially minoritized youth behaviors and center the potential for resistance, arguing that a resistance lens allows us to deepen our understanding of the transition to adulthood for racially minoritized youth. Throughout the paper, we include research on how racially minoritized youth experience marginalizing institutional structures concurrently across multiple systems and their resulting behaviors. We end with the clinical and research implications of a resistance framework to illuminate resistance-informed responses such as rethinking risk and creating spaces for youth-led self-making, youth-adult partnerships to scaffold transitions, and cultivating youth activism.Spermatogenesis is sustained by homeostatic balance between the self-renewal and differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells, which is dependent on the strict regulation of transcription factor and chromatin modulator gene expression. Chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 4 is highly expressed in spermatogonial stem cells but roles in mouse spermatogenesis are not fully understood. Here, we report that the germ-cell-specific deletion of chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 4 resulted in complete infertility in male mice, with rapid loss of spermatogonial stem cells and excessive germ cell apoptosis. this website Chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 4-knockdown in cultured spermatogonial stem cells also promoted the expression of apoptosis-related genes and thereby activated the tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway. Mechanistically, chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 4 occupies the genomic regulatory region of key apoptosis-related genes, including Jun and Nfkb1. Together, our findings reveal the determinant role of chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 4 in spermatogonial stem cells survival in vivo, which will offer insight into the pathogenesis of male sterility and potential novel therapeutic targets. This study proposes and tests a theoretical model of how two types of stressors (challenge and hindrance stressors) elicit perseverative cognition processes in individuals (as characterized by two types of work-related rumination), and how, through this mechanism, these stressors can further affect individuals' flow experience at work. Our model is largely supported by structural equation modeling analyses of a longitudinal questionnaire-based survey (n = 344). We find that challenge stressors have a significant, positive, direct impact on the experience of flow. Additionally, both challenge and hindrance stressors simultaneously activate problem-solving pondering and affective rumination in employees; affective rumination inhibits flow, while problem-solving pondering promotes flow. The results of a bootstrap sampling analysis further indicate the presence of the masking and mediating effects of work-related rumination in the effects of these stressors on flow experience. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
