To assess the efficacy and safety of bilateral-contralateral cervix clamp firstly applied in postpartum hemorrhage caused by uterine tony of lower segment.

Totally 47 pregnant women with postpartum hemorrhage secondary to lower uterine segment atony in vaginal delivery or after caesarean delivery were included from March 1, 2020 to May 31, 2020. According to patient's informed consent, 22 women accepted cervical clamp to treat and 25 only used uterotonics in control group. Then hemostatic efficacy and safety of bilateral-contralateral cervix clamp were assessed by retrospective analysis.

It was found that mean blood loss in clamp group was much less during vaginal delivery (656.2±72.79 g vs 811.8±86.07 g, p = 0.001) or after caesarean delivery (42.8±6.60 g vs 126.3±86.97 g, p = 0.007), and incidence of uterotonic repeated usage (81.8% vs 36, 18.2% vs 64%, p = 0.001) or side effect (18.2% vs 48.0%, p = 0.031) appeared less than control group, but there was no statistical differences on hospital stay (4.1±1.57 days vs 3.8±1.61 days, p = 0.535), hemoglobin (119±4.10 g vs 121.4±4.19 g, p = 0.058), blood transfusion (9.1% vs 12%,p = 0.746), surgical procedures (4.5% vs 4.0%, p = 0.93), also no clamp complications occurred.

In this study, we aimed to compare the choroidal thickness between a group of Korean patients with inactive thyroid eye disease (TED) and a control group of Korean patients and to analyze the variables affecting choroidal thickness.

Patients diagnosed with inactive TED and without TED who underwent optical coherence tomography and axial length measurements were included and classified into the TED group and control group. Choroidal thickness was measured using images acquired in enhanced depth imaging (EDI) mode by cirrus HD-OCT (Carl Zeiss Meditec Inc., Dublin, CA, UAS) at the central fovea and points 1.5mm nasal and 1.5mm temporal from the central fovea using a caliper tool provided by OCT software.

The mean central foveal choroidal thickness was 294.2 ± 71.4µm and 261.1 ± 47.4µm in the TED and control groups, respectively, while the mean temporal choroidal thickness was 267.6 ± 67.5µm and 235.7 ± 41.3µm in the TED and control groups, respectively, showing significant differences between the two groups (P = 0.011, P = 0.008). The mean nasal choroidal thickness was 232.1 ± 71.7µm and 221.1 ± 59.9µm in the TED and control groups, respectively, showing no significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.421). Multivariate regression analysis showed the factors affecting central foveal choroidal thickness were age, axial length, and degree of exophthalmos, and factors affecting temporal choroidal thickness were age and degree of exophthalmos.

To investigate the distribution of corneal astigmatism, aberration, and biometric parameters in Chinese congenital cataract (CC) /developmental cataract patients before cataract surgery.

We evaluated eyes of CC /developmental cataract patients scheduled for cataract surgery from January 2016 to September 2019. Astigmatism, aberrations, and biometric parameters were measured with the Pentacam Scheimpflug imaging device (Pentacam HR, Oculus). Cataract was diagnosed and classified by slit-lamp examination after full mydriasis.

We evaluated 538 eyes in 356 patients. The mean values of anterior corneal astigmatism (ACA), posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA), and total corneal astigmatism (TCA) were determined as 1.98 ± 1.06 D (range 0.0‒4.8 D), 0.49 ± 0.26 D (range 0.0‒1.9 D), and 2.09 ± 1.19 D (range 0.2‒8.8 D), respectively. ACA and TCA ≥ 1.25 D was present in 379 eyes (70.3%) and 392 eyes (72.8%), respectively. PCA between 0.25 D and 0.75 D was found in 380 eyes (70.6%). There was a statistically significant positive linear correlation between lower-order aberrations root mean square values (LOA RMS) and corneal astigmatism (CA). Furthermore, in terms of distribution of central cornea thickness, anterior chamber depth, ACA, PCA, and TCA in different types of cataracts, ACA was highest in patients with zonular cataracts. Finally, we found anterior corneal measurements may overestimate WTR astigmatism, underestimate ATR astigmatism, and underestimate oblique astigmatism, respectively.

Most CC /developmental cataract patients had moderate to high astigmatism and ACA accounted for the largest proportion in the zonular group. This can provide a basis for planning of CC/developmental cataract surgery by ophthalmologists in clinical practice.
