Studies have focused on identifying combinations of insects and organic waste to optimise bio-conversion. Here, the effects of different diets (10% chicken feed complemented with 90% vegetable waste, garden waste, cattle manure, or horse manure) on growth and survival rates, and nutritional value of Zophobas morio and Tenebrio molitor larvae, and Acheta domesticus were investigated. Compared with chicken feed, organic waste decreased the individual larval weight, although green waste showed fewer negative effects than the manure. The macronutrient concentrations in garden waste were moderate compared with chicken feed, and vegetable waste was the poorest diet in terms of nutrient concentration, as revealed by the principal component analysis (PCA). There was no difference in weight between larvae reared on garden waste and those reared on vegetable waste. Tenebrio molitor and A. domesticus showed the maximum growth rates at 71-101 and 36-66 days of age at 22.5 ± 2.5 °C, respectively. The PCA showed that the protein and fibre concentrations were inversely proportional to fat concentration in the larvae. SJ6986 Acheta domesticus was rich in proteins, whereas Z. morio and T. molitor were rich in fat. Feeding nutrient-poor diets resulted in a lower protein and a higher fat concentration in the larvae.Organophosphorus (OP) compounds are used as both chemical weapons and pesticides. However, these agents are very dangerous and toxic to humans, animals, and the environment. Thus, investigations with reactivators have been deeply developed in order to design new antidotes with better efficiency, as well as a greater spectrum of action in the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) reactivation process. With that in mind, in this work, we investigated the behavior of trimedoxime toward the Mus musculus acetylcholinesterase (MmAChE) inhibited by a range of nerve agents, such as chemical weapons. From experimental assays, reactivation percentages were obtained for the reactivation of different AChE-OP complexes. On the other hand, theoretical calculations were performed to assess the differences in interaction modes and the reactivity of trimedoxime within the AChE active site. Comparing theoretical and experimental data, it is possible to notice that the oxime, in most cases, showed better reactivation percentages at higher concentrations, with the best result for the reactivation of the AChE-VX adduct. From this work, it was revealed that the mechanistic process contributes most to the oxime efficiency than the interaction in the site. In this way, this study is important to better understand the reactivation process through trimedoxime, contributing to the proposal of novel antidotes. In this study, a Ti(C,N)-based cermet material was prepared through vacuum sintering. The research also investigates how holding time and maximum sintering temperature influence the material microstructure and mechanical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were used to analyze the composition of the cermet. The microstructure of the cermet was analyzed and examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). A Vickers hardness tester was used to test the mechanical properties of the materials. As indicated by testing results, the hardness of the material decreases as the temperature of sintering increases, and its fracture toughness increases gradually as holding time increases. Ti(C,N)-based cermet manifested the optimal mechanical properties when sintering was conducted under 1400 °C with 80 min of holding time. Moreover, the material microstructure is significantly affected by the sintering process. The grain size of Ti(C,N) cermets increases as the sintering temperature increases. The microstructure tends to be uniform and the complete core-rim structures are established as the holding time increases. Methods used to evaluate the impact of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) services on road safety are usually based on expert assessments or statistical studies. However, commonly used methods are challenging to apply in the planning process of ITS services. This paper presents the methodology of research using surrogate safety measures calculated and calibrated with the use of simulation techniques and a driving simulator. This approach supports the choice of the type of ITS services that are beneficial for traffic efficiency and road safety. This paper presents results of research on the influence of selected scenarios of variable speed limits on the efficiency and safety of traffic on the sections of motorways and expressways in various traffic conditions. The driving simulator was used to estimate the efficiency of lane-keeping by the driver. The simulation traffic models were calibrated using driving simulator data and roadside sensor data. The traffic models made it possible to determine surrogate safety measures (number of conflicts and their severity) in selected scenarios of using ITS services. The presented studies confirmed the positive impact of Variable Speed Limits (VSLs) on the level of road safety and traffic efficiency. This paper also presents recommendations and plans for further research in this area.Airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system and digital camera are usually integrated on a flight platform to obtain multi-source data. However, the photogrammetric system calibration is often independent of the LiDAR system and performed by the aerial triangulation method, which needs a test field with ground control points. In this paper, we present a method for the direct georeferencing of images collected by a digital camera integrated in an airborne LiDAR system by automatic boresight misalignments calibration with the auxiliary of point cloud. The method firstly uses an image matching to generate a tie point set. Space intersection is then performed to obtain the corresponding object coordinate values of the tie points, while the elevation calculated from the space intersection is replaced by the value from the LiDAR data, resulting in a new object point called Virtual Control Point (VCP). Because boresight misalignments exist, a distance between the tie point and the image point of VCP can be found by collinear equations in that image from which the tie point is selected.
