We report that the nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction of aliphatic and (hetero)aromatic amides by organolithium reagents proceeds quickly (20 s reaction time), efficiently, and chemoselectively with a broad substrate scope in the environmentally responsible cyclopentyl methyl ether, at ambient temperature and under air, to provide ketones in up to 93 % yield with an effective suppression of the notorious over-addition reaction. Detailed DFT calculations and NMR investigations support the experimental results. The described methodology was proven to be amenable to scale-up and recyclability protocols. Contrasting classical procedures carried out under inert atmospheres, this work lays the foundation for a profound paradigm shift of the reactivity of carboxylic acid amides with organolithiums, with ketones being straightforwardly obtained by simply combining the reagents under aerobic conditions and with no need of using previously modified or pre-activated amides, as recommended.The behavior of electron transfer and ion transport plays a significant role in the electrocatalytic activity. For the oxygen evolution reaction, CuCo2 S4 /Fe2 O3 /CC could achieve an overpotential of 273 mV and a Tafel slope of 67 mV dec-1 in alkaline solution.
A worldwide outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has drawn global attention. Several reports have described the gastrointestinal (GI) manifestations in the infected patients. The systematic review was designed to highlight the gaps in our knowledge about the prevalence and clinical significance of GI symptoms in patients with COVID-19.
We searched PubMed database and Google articles published in both English and Chinese up to June 3, 2020, using search terms "clinical features," "2019 novel coronavirus," "2019-nCoV," "COVID-19," or "SARS-Cov-2." Observational studies, case reports, or letters describing the clinical features or observational studies regarding the detection and/or isolation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 viruses in stools were included.
A total of 22 publications were finally selected. It was reported that GI symptoms occurred in about 3-40.7% of patients. GI manifestations included nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, vomiting, abdominal pain, belching, abdominal dents. These and other indicators of elevated rates of violence against women in Guam are discordant with historical narratives of gender egalitarianism and community-based sanctions regarding violence against women in Chamoru culture. Using qualitative interviews with responders to violence against women in Guam, this study investigated current community narratives surrounding violence against women. Findings highlighted the centrality of culture in participant understandings of violence against women, particularly the complex interplay of themes of Indigenous cultural loss and desire for revitalization alongside a preference for Western cultural ideals. Curiously, in spite of a strong cultural framework in participant understandings of violence against women, few participants framed their professional response in cultural terms, other than to describe "culturally competent" approaches for commonly scapegoated communities in Guam. Study findings highlight the need for a closer analysis of culture in understandings of and responses to violence against women in Indigenous communities.
The goal of this study was to develop a preoperative nomogram for predicting the feasibility of trans-anal natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE) for rectal cancer.
The analysis included 201 patients who underwent trans-anal NOSE and 457 patients who failed to undergo trans-anal NOSE in Shanghai East Hospital. The data collected included age, gender, body mass index, presence of tumor obstruction, distance from anal verge; maximum tumor diameter and anteroposterior thickness of mesorectum (AP) measured by magnetic resonance imaging; interspinous diameter, intertuberous diameter (IT), anteroposterior diameter of the inlet (API), anteroposterior diameter of the midplane, anteroposterior diameter of the outlet (APO), sacral length and pelvic depth (PD) measured by computed tomography.
The multivariate analysis suggested that a lower body mass index (P<0.001), no tumor obstruction (P=0.005), a shorter distance from anal verge (P<0.001), a smaller tumor size (P<0.001), a thinner AP (P<0.001), a wider and shallower bony pelvis (API/PD, P<0.001), and a wider and shorter pelvic outlet (IT/APO, P<0.001) were significantly associated with an increased probability of trans-anal NOSE. Successful NOSE patients had a decreased time to liquid intake (P<0.001), a shorter postoperative hospital stay (P<0.001), and fewer wound infections (P=0.045). No significant difference in the rate of mortality or recurrence was observed. The nomogram model presented an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.81 (95% CI, 0.78 to 0.85) and good calibration.

Quantifying associations between genetic mutations and loss of ambulation (LoA) among males diagnosed with childhood-onset dystrophinopathy is important for understanding variation in disease progression and may be useful in clinical trial design.
Genetic and clinical data from the Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking, and Research Network for 358 males born and diagnosed from 1982 to 2011 were analyzed. LoA was defined as the age at which independent ambulation ceased. Genetic mutations were defined by overall type (deletion/duplication/point mutation) and among deletions, those amenable to exon-skipping therapy (exons 8, 20, 44-46, 51-53) and another group. Cox proportional hazards regression modeling was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).
Mutation type did not predict time to LoA. Controlling for corticosteroids, Exons 8 (HR = 0.22; 95% CI = 0.08, 0.63) and 44 (HR = 0.30; 95% CI = 0.12, 0.78) were associated with delayed LoA compared to other exon deletions.
Delayed LoA in males with mutations amenable to exon-skipping therapy is consistent with previous studies. These findings suggest that clinical trials including exon 8 and 44 skippable males should consider mutation information prior to randomization.

To determine whether the presence of detectable upper respiratory infections (URIs) at the time of adenoidectomy/adenotonsillectomy is associated with increased morbidity, complications, and unexpected admissions.
Prospective double-blinded cohort.
In this prospective cohort study, nasopharyngeal swabs were obtained intraoperatively from 164 pediatric patients undergoing outpatient adenoidectomy/tonsillectomy with or without pressure equalization tubes (PETs) and were analyzed with PCR for the presence of 22 known URIs, including SARS-CoV-2. Surgeons and families were blinded to the results. At the conclusion of the study, rates of detectable infection were determined and intraoperative and postoperative events (unexpected admissions, length of PACU stay, rates of laryngospasm/bronchospasm, oxygen desaturation, bradycardia, and postoperative presentation to an emergency department) were compared between infected and uninfected patients.
Of the 164 patients (50% male, 50% female, ages 8 mo-18 y), 136 patients (82.9%) tested positive for one or more URI at the time of surgery. Forty one patients (25.0%) tested positive for three or more URIs concurrently, and 11 (6.7%) tested positive for five or more URIs concurrently. There were no significant differences in admission rates, length of PACU stay, rates of laryngospasm/bronchospasm, oxygen desaturation, bradycardia, or postoperative presentation to an emergency department between positive and negative patients. No patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.
A recent positive URI test does not confer any additional intraoperative or postoperative risk in the setting of outpatient adenoidectomy/tonsillectomy in healthy patients. There is no utility in preoperative URI testing, and delaying surgery due to a recent positive URI test is not warranted in this population.

Infection with SARS-CoV-2 can not only cause new kidney damage but also increase the difficulty of treatment and care as well as mortality for people with underlying kidney diseases. Kidney involvement in SARS-CoV-2 infection mainly manifests as kidney tubular injury. Proteinuria is the main clinical sign. To reduce patient mortality, kidney complications should be given increased attention in the diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study reviews the existing literature and discusses COVID-19 infection in combination with kidney diseases in terms of kidney damage, pathogenesis, and treatment to guide clinical anti-epidemic responses.
The objective of this study is to demonstrate that balloon eustachian tuboplasty (BET) is safe and had limited complications in the pediatric patient population.
Retrospective chart review.
This study analyzed the medical records of 43 consecutive encounters of patients under the age of 18 years old who underwent attempted BET. Charts of patients' postoperative appointments and appointments 30 days following the procedure were reviewed. Any complications that were reported by the surgeons' operative report or documented postoperatively were stratified by the Classification of Surgical Complications as outlined by the American College of Surgeons. Additional data points that were analyzed included concomitant surgical procedures, estimated blood loss, and demographic information.
A cohort of 43 pediatric patient encounters were investigated. There was a total of two complications from BET (4.7%) and one aborted case. The complications included epistaxis controlled with oxymetazoline and pressure, and vertigo that was later attributed to vestibular migraines.
