Psychotic features are an exclusion criterion in most ketamine treatment studies based on the assumption that psychosis will increase with ketamine administration. As patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) often have psychotic features, and treatment-resistant depressive symptoms are also common in patients with schizophrenia, the aim of this systematic review is to determine whether this assumption holds true.Data Sources The literature was searched for data on ketamine treatment for depression or negative symptomatology in patients with a history of psychosis or current psychotic symptoms (PubMed/MEDLINE) from inception to March 2020 without date or language restrictions. The following terms were used ketamine and psychosis, psychotic or schizo*. A filter for human studies was applied.Study Selection A total of 482 articles were identified; 473 articles were excluded because they did not report on the effect of ketamine treatment in patients with a history of psychosis or current psychotic symptoms.Data Extraction The remaining 9 articles were reviewed.Results Nine reports of pilot studies and case reports with a total of 41 patients have been published. These studies suggest that short-term ketamine treatment for depression and even negative symptoms in patients with a history of psychosis or current psychotic features can be both safe and effective, as side effects were mild and self-limiting.Conclusions The currently available literature does not support the assumption that ketamine will exacerbate psychotic symptoms in predisposed patients. Data, however, are limited, and further trials are needed in this patient group.By tailoring the mechanism of action and effects of therapy to the specific nature of each patient's insomnia and other conditions, clinicians can offer personalized care in an attempt to achieve an improved risk-benefit ratio compared to that of a "one-size-fits-all" treatment strategy. After decades, many fixation methods in the orthopaedic surgery industry have been developed for decreasing complications and improving this technique. The aim of this PRISMA compliant systematic review is to analyse the effectiveness of several lapidus plate systems in foot surgery. We have carried out the first systematic review of the relevant published literature so as to systematically evaluate the scientific knowledge available now on this association, assigning predefined eligibility criteria. Fourteen studies were selected which had an overall of 738 cases. The first tarsal metatarsal joint and hallux valgus were treated by the application of different types of Lapidus plate system. The optimal level of the fixation in these procedures is related with the type and system insertion place of the plate with or without screw in each specific foot disease. There is an insufficient number of studies about the effectiveness of the different types of Lapidus plate system in foot surgery, and there is a need to increase outcomes knowledge on the level of the fixation, sort of the system, and insert place in foot surgery.Acarbose and metformin have been recommended both as monotherapy and add-on therapy in type 2 diabetes mellitus. A novel fixed-dose combination (FDC) of acarbose and metformin has been developed to improve compliance and patient adherence to therapy. The current study investigated the bioequivalence (BE) between acarbose/metformin FDC (50 mg/500 mg) with corresponding loose combination of individual components under fasting conditions in healthy Chinese male and female subjects, using a randomized, 2-period, 2-way crossover study design. Pharmacodynamic parameters of serum glucose ratio between treatment day and baseline (ratio of maximum concentration [Cmax ], day 1/Cmax , day -1 and ratio of area under the concentration-time curve [AUC] from time 0 to 4 hours, day 1/AUC from time 0 to 4 hours, day -1) were used as the primary variables to evaluate BE of acarbose. Pharmacokinetic parameters Cmax , AUC from time 0 to the last data point greater than the lower limit of quantification, and AUC were used to evaluate BE of metformin. The results showed that the 90% confidence intervals of the ratios of all primary target variables including ratio of Cmax , day 1/Cmax , day -1 and ratio of AUC from time 0 to 4 hours, day 1/AUC from time 0 to 4 hours, day -1 for acarbose, and Cmax , AUC from time 0 to the last data point greater than the lower limit of quantification, and AUC for metformin all fell within the acceptance limits of 0.8 to 1.25. Thus, BE between 50-mg acarbose and 500-mg metformin as an FDC and loose combination was established. Furthermore, different kinds of exploratory pharmacodynamic parameters (based on either serum glucose or insulin) including several newly proposed parameters were also investigated for acarbose BE evaluation in this study, and inconsistent results were observed.
