Pain is one of the most common and most difficult symptoms to manage in adult burn patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Insufficient or unsuccessful pain management can negatively affect physiological, psychological, and social health in burn patients, both during and after hospitalization. link2 Music therapy and music medicine interventions have been shown to positively affect pain and mental health in this population. This systematic review and meta-analysis provide an update of Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) using music therapy or music medicine interventions in adult burn patients.
A variety of databases were searched from their beginning to June 2020, including PsycINFO and PsycArticles (via APAsycNET), PubMed and MEDLINE (via OvidSP), Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. Data of all articles meeting the inclusion criteria were extracted, organized, and processed according to the PRISMA guidelines. Statistical analysis was performed using Q-test and I2 statistics.
10 RCTs with a total of 1061 participants were included. The results of the meta-analysis showed a statistically significant reduction of pain (I

The use of fat grafting is being widely used for different indications one of which is wound healing. In this study we compare the use of autologous fat grafting (AFG) as a novel indication in acute burn wounds healing and burn scarring to the conventional methods of burn wound management both clinically and histologically. Several small observational studies demonstrated the effect of the AFG in healing of chronic wounds, different vascular ulcers or effect on scars yet no randomized controlled trial is available to compare its role with conventional methods.

The authors performed a search through the Cochrane, EMBASE, and MEDLINE/PubMed databases from inception to February 19, 2021, for studies reporting hospitalized patients with COVID-19 managed with ECMO.
A total of 134 studies were selected, including 6 eligible for the comparative meta-analysis of COVID-19 versus influenza.

The primary endpoint was the overall mortality of patients with COVID-19 receiving ECMO. Of the total number of 58,472 patients with COVID-19 reported, ECMO was used in 4,044 patients. In the comparative analysis, patients with COVID-19 on ECMO had a higher risk ratio (RR) for mortality when compared to influenza patients on ECMO 72/164 (44%) v 71/186 (38%) RR 1.34; 95% CI 1.05-1.71; p = 0.03.

To date, the role of low skeletal muscle mass (LSMM) in cholangiocarcinoma (CC) is unclear. Our purpose was to analyze the influence of LSMM on survival in patients with CC treated by surgical resection.
MEDLINE, Cochrane, and SCOPUS databases were screened for associations between LSMM and survival in CC up to June 2021. Overall, 16 studies met the inclusion criteria. The methodological quality of the involved studies was analyzed using the QUADAS instrument. The meta-analysis was undertaken using RevMan 5.4 software.
The prevalence of LSMM was 48.40%. LSMM was associated with lower overall survival (OS) HR = 2.44, 95%CI = (2.01-2.96) (simple regression); HR=2.39, 95%CI = (1.83-3.13) (multiple regression). In extrahepatic CC, sarcopenic patients had lower OS, simple regression HR = 2.11, 95%CI = (1.39-3.20); multiple regression HR=2.28, 95%CI = (1.41-3.70). In intrahepatic CC, LSMM predicted recurrence free survival HR = 2.33, 95%CI = (1.93-2.81) (simple regression); HR = 2.23, 95%CI = (1.73-2.88) (multiple regression). LSMM predicted OS in intrahepatic CC, simple regression HR = 2.69, 95%CI = (2.24-3.24); multiple regression HR=2.43, 95%CI = (1.73-3.41).
