To assess the prevalence, associated factors and cardiocerebral vascular prognosis of anaemia in patients undergoing haemodialysis.

This multicentre, retrospective, observational cohort study included patients on maintenance haemodialysis in South Guangdong, China. Anaemia in haemodialysis was defined as haemoglobin (Hb) <90 g/l. A proportion of patients were enrolled in a follow-up of the cardiocerebral vascular prognosis.

A total of 1161 patients were enrolled and 938 were followed-up for cardiocerebral vascular events. Of 1161 patients, 250 (21.5%) had anaemia and 524 (45.1%) had an Hb level of 100-120 g/l. Adjusted multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that frequency of dialysis ≤ twice weekly, hypoalbuminaemia and use of unfractionated heparin were independent factors associated with anaemia. Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis for no myocardial infarction was 100%, 100%, 100% and 100% after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, respectively, in patients with Hb < 90 g/l; compared with 97%, 95%, 93% and 93%, respectively, in patients with Hb ≥ 130 g/l. Adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression demonstrated that Hb ≥ 130 g/l was an independent risk factor for myocardial infarction.

Few studies have been reported involving endometrial adenocarcinoma and fallopian tube carcinoma. We reported the case of a 58-year-old woman who presented because of irregular vaginal bleeding for more than 1 month. Cervical biopsy suggested moderately differentiated cervical adenocarcinoma, and the patient underwent radical hysterectomy under general anesthesia. However, postoperative pathology and immunohistochemical results indicated a collision tumor comprising endometrial adenocarcinoma (grade I) and primary serous fallopian tube carcinoma. According to the treatment principle of multiple primary tumors, a regimen of paclitaxel combined with carboplatin was administered. The patient also underwent local pelvic radiotherapy to treat lymph node metastasis. This review examines the efficacy and safety of secukinumab for the treatment of psoriasis using the literature retrieved from the PubMed database. In clinical trials, treatment with secukinumab led to rapid and sustained improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores, with PASI 90 response rates up to 68.5% at 5 years. Long-term clinical trial and real-world data have established secukinumab as a safe and effective treatment for psoriasis.Objectives Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is the most common symptomatic inborn error of immunity characterized by variable clinical manifestations. Methods Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases were searched systemically to find eligible studies from the earliest available date to February 2020 with standard keywords. Pooled estimates of the autoimmunity prevalence and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated using random-effects models. Results The overall prevalence of autoimmunity was 29.8% (95% CI 26.4-33.3; I2 = 82.8%). The prevalences of hematologic autoimmune diseases, autoimmune gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune rheumatologic disorders, autoimmune skin disorders, and autoimmune endocrinopathy in CVID patients were 18.9%, 11.5%, 6.4%, 5.9%), and 2.5%, respectively. There were significantly higher lymphocyte, CD3 + T cell, and CD4 + T cell count among CVID patients without autoimmunity (p less then 0.05). Furthermore, failure to thrive, organomegaly, enteropathy, and meningitis was significantly higher in CVID patients with autoimmunity(p less then 0.05). This study was performed to depict the patterns of change in the perioperative hemoglobin (Hb) concentration and hematocrit (Hct) and to identify the optimal timing of Hb and Hct measurement in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

This prospective observational study involved 302 consecutive patients who underwent TKA. The patients were kept in hospital for 1 full week postoperatively. Hb and Hct measurements were performed preoperatively and on days 1 to 7 postoperatively and then during clinic visits at 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively.

The Hb concentration and Hct decreased during the first few days postoperatively and reached a nadir on postoperative day 4 and 3, respectively; they then recovered in the following days. Significant differences in the Hb concentration and Hct were detected between the preoperative period and day 1, between days 1 and 2, between days 2 and 3, between day 7 and 1 month, and between 1 and 3 months. A significant difference in the Hct was also detected between 3 and 6 months.
