Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is a significant cellular stress response protein that has intrinsic and extrinsic pathways to protect cells against apoptosis. It is one of the most induced proteins in cancer cells. The aim of the present study is to investigate the significant role of the HSP70 expression in Egyptian patients with breast cancer (BC) and its potential to be as a diagnostic and prognostic marker.

HSP70 was examined in 155 cases in this prospective study; patients were subdivided into 3 groups 60 patients with malignant metastatic disease, 60 patients with malignant non-metastatic disease, and 35 patients with benign lesions as control. HSP70 expression was detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Most cases of breast cancer expressed HSP70 in both serum (98.3%) and tumor tissue (90%). A strong positive correlation was found between HSP70 IHC and ELISA (r= 0.811). The mean HSP70 levels, as detected in both patients' serum by ELISA and tumor tissue by IHC, was significantly higher in patients with BC than in benign cases (P= .001). HSP70 was significantly higher in patients with metastatic BC than in those with non-metastatic BC (P= .001). HSP70 showed positive correlation with tumor size (pT stage) and number of lymph node metastases (P≤ .001).

HSP70 is over-expressed in patients with metastatic and non-metastatic BC than in benign cases. A high level of HSP70 either in patient's serum or in tumor tissue correlated significantly with advanced disease in patients with BC. This present study suggests that HSP70 can serve as a BC biomarker for early screening, diagnosis, and follow-up.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making a continuous progression into the field of Radiation Oncology in Canada and globally. While this field continues to evolve, there is no clear understanding about how radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists and radiation trainees perceive AI and its' impact on radiation oncology as a discipline. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of these four Canadian professional groups about AI. and how AI will affect radiation oncology as a specialty.

Following an in-depth scientific review of the existing literature, a 29 Likert-scale questionnaire was developed using Google Survey. Isuzinaxib The questionnaire was piloted and distributed through national organizations including the Canadian Association for Radiation Oncology (CARO), the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Therapy (CAMRT) and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP), initially in February, and again between March and June 2020. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

159 responses were received from 10 Canadian provinces. Knowledge about AI was moderate with an average of 5/10, but 91% responded interest in learning more about it. The negative implications of AI were related to fear of losing jobs and shift of practice. The majority of participants agreed AI would positively impact on patient treatment.

Radiation oncology professionals believe AI will be an important part of patient treatment in their future practices. The fear about AI may be mitigated with further education programs about AI, which can gain more confidence in the acceptance of AI.

The best treatment option for CAAs remains a subject of debate. The underlying pathology is not well understood, randomised controlled trials and supportive data are lacking and there is no consensus on treatment plan. The recommended therapies include medical management, percutaneous or surgical exclusion of the aneurysm or coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG). Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can be technically challenging even with a suitable anatomy, specifically in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We report case series of CAAs presenting as ACS and focus on PCI treatment option.Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin with antioxidant properties, is thought to modulate enzymes involved in signal transduction, affect gene expression, and have immunomodulatory capabilities. Severe vitamin E deficiency is associated with neuronal disorders, impaired immune response, hemolytic anemia, and oxidative-based disorders. Patients who undergo bariatric surgery (BS), especially malabsorptive procedures, are at greater risk of developing fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies. Current data on vitamin E statuses among BS patients are limited. Therefore, this systematic review has summarized the scientific literature on vitamin E and examined its status among patients following different types of BS. Searches of the MEDLINE and Embase databases were performed, followed by hand-searching of reference lists from all relevant papers. Of the 671 initially identified articles, 24 met the inclusion criteria 1 study on adjustable gastric banding patients (n = 21), 4 studies on sleeve gastrectomy patients (n = 173), 12 studies on Roux-en-Y gastric bypass patients (n = 689) and 12 studies on biliopancreatic diversion with or without duodenal switch (n = 799) or single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy patients (n = 163). Results suggest that patients who undergo malabsorptive procedures are at higher risk of developing vitamin E deficiency, although clinical manifestations of vitamin E deficits following BS are rarely documented. The optimal dose of vitamin E supplementation required for prevention of deficiency or for treatment following BS has yet to be established. Future observational and intervention studies are needed to bridge the gaps in existing knowledge.
