Background Coronavirus disease 2019, caused by SARS-CoV-2 (SCV-2) was stated as a pandemic on March 11 2020 by World Health Organization (WHO), and since then, it has become a major health issue worldwide. It mainly attacks the respiratory system with various accompanying complications, including cardiac injury, renal failure, encephalitis and Stroke.Materials and Methods The current systematic review has been compiled to summarize the available literature on SCV-2 induced ischemic Stroke and its subtypes. Further, the mechanisms by which the virus crosses the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to enter the brain have also been explored. The role of CRP and D-dimer as potent prognostic markers was also explored. The literature search was carried out comprehensively on Google scholar, PubMed, SCOP US, Embase and Cochrane databases by following guidelines.Results All the studies were reviewed thoroughly by authors and disagreements were resolved by consensus and help of the senior authors. The most common subtype of the IS was found to be large artery atherosclerosis in SCV-2 induced IS. Hypertension emerged as the most significant risk factor. The mechanism resulting in elevated levels of CRP and D-dimer have also been discussed. However, there is a scarcity of definitive evidence on how SCV-2 enters the human brain. The available literature based on various studies demonstrated that SCV-2 enters through the nasopharyngeal tract via olfactory cells to olfactory neurons, astrocytes and via choroid plexus through endothelial cells. Further, disruption of gut-brain axis has been also discussed.Conclusion Data available in the literature is not adequate to come to a conclusion. Therefore, there is a need to carry out further studies to delineate the possible association between SCV-2 induced IS.Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is an important component of the outer blood-retinal barrier and plays a critical role in maintaining retinal homeostasis. Alterations in RPE can be detected during the early stages of diabetic retinopathy (DR). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying these early changes remain unclear. We investigated the molecular changes induced in the RPE by high glucose concentrations by constructing a high glucose-induced ARPE-19 cell injury model simulating the DR environment in vitro. Proteomic analysis was conducted to measure differences in protein expression between cells treated with normal (5 mM) and high (25 mM) glucose concentrations, and bioinformatics techniques were used to analyze the mechanism of action. The results of the proteomic analyses were validated using western blotting. High glucose levels inhibited the proliferation of ARPE-19 cells. We identified 88 upregulated proteins and 114 downregulated proteins. Six of these proteins were selected for further validation. Changes in the proteome mainly affected the lysosome and cell cycle pathways. Proteomic differences between ARPE-19 cells treated with normal and high glucose concentrations indicate that damage to the RPE in DR may be caused by specific mechanisms. Our study verified protein changes in ARPE-19 cells in a high-glucose environment and may provide new strategies for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying DR.

Narrative review.
There have been numerous advances in the field of imaging in uveitis in the past decade. Advanced techniques of imaging of the vitreous, vitreo-retinal interface, retinochoroid, and the sclera can provide significant information that helps in understanding the disease pathogenesis and manifestations. Imaging also helps in establishing a diagnosis in challenging cases, along with the laboratory and other assays. Notable developments in ocular imaging include wide-field and ultra-wide field imaging (including angiographies), automated quantification of the retinochoroidal vasculature using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography, quantification of vitreous cells, and intraoperative use of imaging in uveitis, among others.

Computer vision, understood as the area of science that trains computers to interpret digital images through both artificial intelligence (AI) and classical algorithms, has significantly advanced the analysis and interpretation of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in retina research. The aim of this review is to summarise the recent advances of computer vision in imaging processing in uveitis, with a particular focus in optical coherence tomography images.

White dot syndromes are a heterogeneous group of diseases that affect different layers in the retina and choroid. Multimodal imaging is fundamental in the diagnosis, but also can be crucial in unveiling the pathogenesis of these entities.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides depth-resolved, histological grade images of the vitreous, retina, and choroid. This technology is very useful to localize the primary nature and level of pathology of the various white dot syndromes. These studies, however, may be susceptible to the bias of self-report. The current study therefore examined self-reported sexual orientation in addition to an objective correlate genital arousal to erotic videos showing males or females. For 52 men (19 heterosexual, 19 bisexual, 14 homosexual) and 67 women (31 heterosexual, 18 bisexual, 18 homosexual), these measures were taken twice, with approximately 1 year between sessions. For self-reported sexual orientation, women reported lower relative stability (weaker correlation) than men over time, even though women did not change more overall (no stronger mean difference) than men between sessions. Bisexual individuals reported lower relative stability and more mean change than heterosexual and homosexual individuals. For genital arousal, across all groups, response patterns were correlated over time to a similar extent and showed little difference between sessions. Moreover, change in self-reported sexual orientation did not correspond with the change in genital arousal, regardless of sex. Perhaps self-reports overestimate changes in sexual orientation, since these changes were not reflected in physiological sexual response.
Fatigue is a common symptom reported by patients with chronic immunoinflammatory diseases and with profound negative implications on health-related quality of life. This study aimed to delineate underlying components contributing to fatigue in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) receiving biologic therapy.
Cross-sectional questionnaire study of all patients with IBD receiving any biologic therapy at a tertiary IBD center. Fatigue was assessed by Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F). Disease activity and quality of life were evaluated by generic questionnaires. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to identify components of variables explaining fatigue.
Three hundred patients with IBD were included. Moderate-to-severe fatigue defined as FACIT-
≤ 39 was present in half of the included patients. PCA condensed variables associated with fatigue into three main components contributing to 49% of observed fatigue. The first component, explaining 21% of fatigue, included factors related to disease chronicity, e.g., long disease duration, high number of previously used biologic therapies, presence of previous intestinal surgery, and increasing age. The second component explained 14% of fatigue and comprised disease activity-related aspects, e.g., disease activity indices and C-reactive protein. The third explained 14% of fatigue and comprised various nutritional deficiencies.

People who stutter can use the Internet to find out more about their condition and connect with other people in the same position, yet in Croatia, there are not nearly as many online sources on stuttering or as many possibilities to connect with other people who stutter as in the USA or Great Britain. If one does not speak English well, a lot of information about stuttering will simply be denied to them, especially to those who have never received speech therapy. The present study, the first of its kind in Croatia, was conducted in order to understand how often and for what reasons people who stutter search for Internet resources related to their condition. The study also assessed whether Internet use depended on age, experience with speech-language therapy, self-reported satisfaction with such therapy, and self-assessed severity of stuttering. An online questionnaire integrating the 9-Point Stuttering Severity Scale was developed for this study and administered to 51 individuals aged 18 years and older in Croatia. All collected data and findings on the internet searches come from the questionnaire. Age did not significantly affect the frequency or purpose of Internet searches. Individuals who were not attending speech therapy were more likely to search online sources about stuttering than those who received it before. People who rated their stuttering as severe were more likely to search online sources for stuttering than those who rated their condition as mild. These results suggest that there is a need for more useful, high-quality online content and materials in Croatian for people who stutter. Such resources would offer people who stutter a new world of support, mutual understanding, shared experiences and knowledge, and ways for them to help themselves.
