Our developed approach has obtained an accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 99.18% (Confidence interval (CI) as [98.86, 99.49]), 99.17% (CI as [98.85 99.49]), and 99.18% (CI as [98.86 99.49]), respectively, with 10-fold cross-validation (CV) technique to detect AF automatically. The proposed approach also classified terminating and non-terminating AF episodes with an average accuracy of 75.86%. The average accuracy value obtained using the proposed approach is higher than the short-time Fourier transform (STFT), discrete-time continuous wavelet transform (DT-CWT), and Stockwell transform (ST) based time-frequency analysis methods with deep convolutional BLSTM models to detect AF. The proposed approach has better AF detection performance than the existing deep learning-based techniques using ECG signals from the MIT-BIH database.Tuberculosis (TB) is a worldwide illness caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Owing to the high prevalence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, numerous traditional strategies for developing novel alternative therapies have been presented. The effectiveness and dependability of these procedures are not always consistent. Peptide-based therapy has recently been regarded as a preferable alternative due to its excellent selectivity in targeting specific cells without affecting the normal cells. However, due to the rapid growth of the peptide samples, predicting TB accurately has become a challenging task. To effectively identify antitubercular peptides, an intelligent and reliable prediction model is indispensable. An ensemble learning approach was used in this study to improve expected results by compensating for the shortcomings of individual classification algorithms. Initially, three distinct representation approaches were used to formulate the training samples k-space amino acid composition, composite physiochemical properties, and one-hot encoding. The feature vectors of the applied feature extraction methods are then combined to generate a heterogeneous vector. Finally, utilizing individual and heterogeneous vectors, five distinct nature classification models were used to evaluate prediction rates. In addition, a genetic algorithm-based ensemble model was used to improve the suggested model's prediction and training capabilities. Using Training and independent datasets, the proposed ensemble model achieved an accuracy of 94.47% and 92.68%, respectively. It was observed that our proposed "iAtbP-Hyb-EnC" model outperformed and reported ~10% highest training accuracy than existing predictors. The "iAtbP-Hyb-EnC" model is suggested to be a reliable tool for scientists and might play a valuable role in academic research and drug discovery. The source code and all datasets are publicly available at https//github.com/Farman335/iAtbP-Hyb-EnC.In patients with kidney failure with replacement therapy (KFRT), optimizing anemia management in these patients is a challenging problem because of the complexities of the underlying diseases and heterogeneous responses to erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs). Therefore, we propose a ESA dose recommendation model based on sequential awareness neural networks. Data from 466 KFRT patients (12,907 dialysis sessions) in seven tertiary-care general hospitals were included in the experiment. First, a Hb prediction model was developed to simulate longitudinal heterogeneous ESA and Hb interactions. Based on the prediction model as a prospective study simulator, we built an ESA dose recommendation model to predict the required amount of ESA dose to reach a target hemoglobin level after 30 days. Each model's performance was evaluated in the mean absolute error (MAE). The MAEs presenting the best results of the prediction and recommendation model were 0.59 (95% confidence interval 0.56-0.62) g/dL and 43.2 μg (ESAs dose), respectively. Compared to the results in the real-world clinical data, the recommendation model achieved a reduction of ESA dose (Algorithm 140 vs. Human 150 μg/month, P less then 0.001), a more stable monthly Hb difference (Algorithm 0.6 vs. Human 0.8 g/dL, P less then 0.001), and an improved target Hb success rate (Algorithm 79.5% vs. find more Human 62.9% for previous month's Hb less then 10.0 g/dL; Algorithm 95.7% vs. Human73.0% for previous month's Hb 10.0-12.0 g/dL). We developed an ESA dose recommendation model for optimizing anemia management in patients with KFRT and showed its potential effectiveness in a simulated prospective study.
This world is currently witnessing a pandemic outbreak of 'COVID-19' caused by a positive-strand RNA virus 'SARS-CoV-2'. Millions have succumbed globally to the disease, and the numbers are increasing day by day. The viral genome enters into the human host through interaction between the spike protein (S) and host angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) proteins. S is the common target for most recently rolled-out vaccines across regions. A recent surge in single/multiple mutations in S region is of great concern as it may escape vaccine induced immunity. So far, the treatment regime with repurposed drugs has not been too successful.

Natural compounds are capable of targeting mutated spike protein by binding to its active site and destabilizing the spike-host ACE2 interaction.

A hypothetical mutated spike protein was constructed by incorporating twelve different mutations from twelve geographical locations simultaneously into the receptor-binding domain (RBD) and docked with ACE2 and seven phytochemicals namely allicin, capsaicin, cinnamaldehyde, curcumin, gingerol, piperine and zingeberene. Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulation and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were finally used for validation of the docking results.

The docking results showed that curcumin and piperine were most potent to bind ACE2, mutated spike, and mutated spike-ACE2 complex, thereby restricting viral entry. ADME analysis also proved their drug candidature. The docking complexes were found to be stable by MD simulation.

This result provides a significant insight about the phytochemicals' role, namely curcumin and piperine, as the potential therapeutic entities against mutated spike protein of SARS-CoV-2.

However, its impact on the closed-loop sensorimotor control process remains largely unclear. This is the first study to investigate the directional changes in cortico-muscular interactions after repetitive rehabilitation training by measuring the noninvasive electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) signals. In this study, 10 subjects with chronic stroke received 20 sessions of NMES-pedaling interventions, and each training session included three 10-min NMES-driven pedaling trials. In addition, pre- and post-intervention assessments of lower limb isometric contraction were conducted before and after the whole NMES-pedaling interventions. The EEG (128 channels) and EMG (3 bilateral lower limb sensors) signals were collected during the isometric contraction tasks for the paretic and non-paretic lower limbs. Both the cortico-muscular coherence (CMC) and generalized partial directed coherence (GPDC) values were analyzed between eight selected EEG channels in the central primary motor cortex and EMG channels. The results revealed significant clinical improvements. Additionally, rehabilitation training facilitated cortico-muscular interaction of the ipsilesional brain and paretic lower limbs (p = 0.004). Moreover, both the descending and ascending cortico-muscular pathways were altered after NMES-training (p = 0.001, p less then 0.001). Therefore, the results implied potential applications of EEG-EMG in understanding neuromuscular changes during the post-stroke motor rehabilitation process.Automatic classification of heart sound plays an important role in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. In this study, a heart sound sample classification method based on quality assessment and wavelet scattering transform was proposed. First, the ratio of zero crossings (RZC) and the root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD) were used for assessing the quality of heart sound signal. The first signal segment conforming to the threshold standard was selected as the current sample for the continuous heart sound signal. Using the wavelet scattering transform, the wavelet scattering coefficients were expanded according to the wavelet scale dimension, to obtain the features. Support vector machine (SVM) was used for classification, and the classification results for the samples were obtained using the wavelet scale dimension voting approach. The effects of RZC and RMSSD on the results are discussed in detail. On the database of PhysioNet Computing in Cardiology Challenge 2016 (CinC 2016), the proposed method yields 92.23% accuracy (Acc), 96.62% sensitivity (Se), 90.65% specificity (Sp), and 93.64% measure of accuracy (Macc). The results show that the proposed method can effectively classify normal and abnormal heart sound samples with high accuracy. We recently found a positive relationship between estimates of metacognitive efficiency and metacognitive bias. However, this relationship was only examined on a within-subject level and required binarizing the confidence scale, a technique that introduces methodological difficulties. Here we examined the robustness of the positive relationship between estimates of metacognitive efficiency and metacognitive bias by conducting two different types of analyses. First, we developed a new within-subject analysis technique where the original n-point confidence scale is transformed into two different (n-1)-point scales in a way that mimics a naturalistic change in confidence. Second, we examined the across-subject correlation between metacognitive efficiency and metacognitive bias. Importantly, for both types of analyses, we not only established the direction of the effect but also computed effect sizes. We applied both techniques to the data from three tasks from the Confidence Database (N > 400 in each). We found that both approaches revealed a small to medium positive relationship between metacognitive efficiency and metacognitive bias. These results demonstrate that the positive relationship between metacognitive efficiency and metacognitive bias is robust across several analysis techniques and datasets, and have important implications for future research.Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels (Rutaceae) is a natural bioactive plant. Its roots, stems, leaves, and seeds are widely used in Chinese traditional and folk medicine. Although the characterization and functional analysis of bioactive components in Clausena lansium (Lour.) Skeels has been widely reported, the spatial distribution of these compounds within the main plant tissues remains undefined. Here, we adopted matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) to reveal the spatial distribution of active alkaloids, coumarins, sugars and organic acids in C. lansium. Using a combined wet and dry matrix covering method to enhance sensitivity, we detected alkaloids throughout the fruit including 3-methylcarbazole and murrastinine which were especially rich in the kernel tissues but were restricted to the stem xylem and medulla and in the leaf epidermal region. Interestingly, murrayanine and heptaphylline were mainly found in pulp tissues with very low content in the stems and leaves while girinimbine was only distributed within the outer kernel skin.
