Structurel intermediates seen just in in one piece Escherichia coli show any device with regard to TonB-dependent transport.
The study was conducted in tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. All patients had undergone hemi thyroidectomy and followed up by a median period of 25 months (range, 6 to 166 months). Following hemithyroidectomy, among 300 patients, 267 patients (89.0%) did not show any recurrence of disease. Thirty three (33) patients (11.0%) came with locoregional recurrence of disease in clinical and USG findings without any distant metastasis. Maximum patients were between the ages 31-40 year followed by 21-30 years. Female was out number male in the ratio. Though further large scale study should require to determine the optimal treatment option for low risk PTC, but this study can lead to a result that hemi thyroidectomy is now-a-days a better surgical option for PTC even up to tumor size of ≤4cm.Both periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus (DM) are important public health issues. Compared to the non-diabetic counterparts, diabetic patients more often suffer from dental problems, sometimes requiring fixed-dental prosthesis. Gingival inflammation and other forms of periodontal disease are the common complications of the dental prosthesis. This prospective comparative experimental study was intended to compare the outcome of the periodontal health after placement of full veneer crown in diabetic and non-diabetic patients in the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Bangladesh from April 2018 to March 2019. This study involved consecutive 53 diabetic and 53 non-diabetic adult patients of either sex, undergoing treatment with full veneer crown in either maxillary or mandibular posterior teeth with healthy periodontal tissue. The outcome variables were plaque index, gingival index, periodontal pocket depth, and bleeding on probing, at bas at 3 and 6 months respectively (p less then 0.001). Periodontal health outcome of full veener crown in diabetic patients is adversely affected compared to that in non-diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to observe the symptoms and bowel habit pattern experienced by patients presenting with self reporting constipation at Out Patient Department in a tertiary care hospital. It was a cross-sectional study which was conducted in Out Patient Department of gastroenterology in North East Medical College Hospital, Sylhet, Bangladesh from January 2017 to December 2018. Total 228 consecutive patients with self reported constipation were enrolled in this study. Patients with history of abdominal surgery, known chronic disease, age below 18 years, pregnant women, patients using drugs like anti-depressant, anti-psychotic and patients unwilling to take part in the study were excluded. Demographic data, symptoms, bowel habit pattern and character of stool were recorded at enrollment in a pre-designed data sheet. Total 228 patients, male 130(57.0%) and female 98(43.0%), age varying from 18-81 years (mean age 38.7±15.10 years) were included. Among them 127 patients (55.7%) was experienced daily bowelents' perception regarding constipation. However, further study with large sample size in different hospitals in different areas could explain this observation more precisely. In this study our main goal is to evaluate the role of ultrasonography (USG) for determination of placental maturity and fetal gestational age. This cross-sectional study was done at the Department of Radiology and Imaging (USG section) Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, Mymensingh from July 2008 to June 2010, where 60 patients included in this study, who was attending in the department of Radiology & Imaging for transabdominal ultrasonography with early and late pregnancy related complaints. In this study among the 60 patients, the youngest one was eighteen years and oldest one was thirty-nine years old age. Thirty five percent (35.0%) patients were from 26-30 years age group. About 33 patients out of 60(55.0%) were house wives. Most of the patients were presented with amenorrhea (65.0%) 39 out of 60. Among 60 patients, 20 patients (33.3%) were in gestational age within 12-28 weeks, 20 patients (33.3%) were in gestational age within 29-36 weeks and 20 patients (33.3%) were within >36 weeks gestational tion of overall incidence and statistics regarding the ailment in our country. For this a more extensive study over a longer period covering different section of society is very much needed for better outcome.Growth assessment is an essential component of child health surveillance. The most influential tool in the growth assessment is the growth chart. Growth parameters of children are usually interpreted in relation to international standards like the NCHS/1977, CDC/2000 and WHO/2007 growth charts. This comparative study was carried out in the Department of Paediatrics, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from November 2014 to October 2015 to compare the growth parameters of children using 2000 CDC standards and 2007 WHO standards. A total of five hundred healthy school children, aged 6 to 10 years were randomly selected proportionately from each class of five government primary schools from Mymensingh city area. Children with physical deformities and acutely ill and those with chronic debilitating diseases were excluded from the study. The mean and median weight, height and BMI were calculated for each age and sex. The median weight, height and BMI were then standardized by converting them to Z-scndings in this study imply that growth pattern of Bangladeshi school children is closer with WHO standards and wider from CDC standards.Increasing resistance of pathogenic microorganisms to synthetic antibiotics has lead to the search for alternative drug sources. In this regard, one of the reputed Medicinal plant, Moringa (Moringa oleifera) was investigated for potential antimicrobial effect against some commonly encountered bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli. read more This experimental study was conducted from July 2019 to June 2020 in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, Mymensingh Medical College, Bangladesh to determine the antibacterial effect of Ethanolic extract of Moringa oleifera leaf (EMLE) against aforementioned bacteria. The antibacterial activity was tested at different concentrations (100, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000μg/ml) of Ethanolic extract by using disc diffusion and broth dilution method. Dose dependent inhibitory effect was seen against the test organisms using disc diffusion method. The maximum zone of inhibition was 19 mm against S. aureus and 20mm against E. coli at 100.0% (1000μg/ml) concentration. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of EMLE were 400μg/ml and 500μg/ml against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli respectively. The present study showed that Ethanolic extract of Moringa leaf demonstrated antibacterial effects against food borne pathogens. Further studies are required to detect and isolate the active ingredients present in the Moringa leaves extract responsible for its antibacterial effect.Women constitute a large population group in any country and they are the vulnerable or special risk group. The risk is associated with child-bearing. The purpose of antenatal care is to detect early the high risk cases from a large group of antenatal women and to arrange special skilled care for them. Aim of this cross sectional descriptive type of observational study was to find out the proportion of risk factors among women attending antenatal checkup unit of a tertiary level hospital and carried out in the antenatal checkup unit of Model Family Planning Clinic of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh from January 2022 to June 2022. Data were collected from purposively selected 403 women seeking antenatal care by face to face interview, clinical examination and necessary laboratory investigations. Data were analyzed by using SPSS version 26.0. More than three forth (320, 79.4%) of the respondents were in the age group of less than 30 years and the remaining (83, 20.6%) were in the age group of 30d as elderly grand multiparas. Prolonged pregnancy was found in 4(1.0%) women and 76(18.9%) women had the history of previous caesarean or instrumental delivery. Nine (2.2%) pregnant women had general diseases along with pregnancy- 5(55.6%) had asthma, 3(33.3%) had diabetes mellitus and 1(11.1%) had cardiovascular disease. Four (1.0%) women got pregnant after treatment for infertility and 2 (0.5%) women had history of three or more spontaneous consecutive abortions. Finally all the pregnant women under study were categorized on the basis of criteria of "high risk cases" and 97(24.1%) women had high risk pregnancy and the remaining 306 (75.9%) had normal pregnancy. Proportion of women with high risk pregnancy in this study is 24.1% who needs special attention and skilled care in addition to continuing better Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services for all pregnant women. The presence of conduction defects complicating acute myocardial infarction (MI) is relatively frequent and is associated with increased short and long term mortality. Thrombolytic therapy has been established to reduce the mortality in acute MI, however its role in reducing the incidence of conduction defects is less clearly defined. Morbidity and mortality associated with conduction defects also remain unchanged. This study was aimed to assess the correlation between conduction defects and adverse in-hospital outcome of patients with acute ST segment elevation MI. This cross sectional descriptive type of observational study was conducted among 100 purposively selected patients with acute ST segment elevation MI in the coronary care unit (CCU) of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh from June 2012 to March 2013. The patients were divided into two groups depending on the presence or absence of conduction defects namely Group A- 40 patients with conduction defects and Group B- 60 patients without co). Group A showed higher rate of mortality (20.0%) than Group B (3.3%). In cases of anterior MI difference in mortality between Group A and Group B was highly significant (p less then 0.001). Conduction defects in the setting of acute MI are a common finding. Atrio-ventricular conduction defects occur more frequently in inferior MI whereas intra-ventricular conduction defects were more frequently encountered in anterior MI. Patients with conduction defects had more complications than those without conduction defects. Presence of conduction defects significantly increases the mortality of patients with anterior MI.Though cervical cancer is a preventable disease it is the most progressive and devastating diseases posing a threat of mortality for women of developing countries. Majority of the cases present to hospital at advanced stage when treatment is less feasible. Objective is to determine the factors associated with the advanced stage presentation to the hospital, socio-demographic factor, patterns of complications and histological types among patients with carcinoma cervix. This was an observational descriptive type of cross-sectional study carried out in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from 15 January to 27 September 2017. Women who were newly confirmed to have cervical cancer by histology were enrolled. Stages IIB and above was considered as advanced disease. The patients were interviewed face to face by the researcher for the purpose of collection of data. Then the patients were examined by the researcher for certain sings and those would be recorded in the check-list.
