Transition-metal selenides have emerged as promising anode materials for sodium ion batteries (SIBs). Nevertheless, they suffer from volume expansion, polyselenide dissolution, and sluggish kinetics, which lead to inadequate conversion reaction toward sodium and poor reversibility during the desodiation process. Therefore, the transition-metal selenides are far from long cycling stability, outstanding rate performance, and high initial Coulombic efficiency, which are the major challenges for practical application in SIBs. Here, an efficient anode material including an FeSe2 core and N-doped carbon shell with inner void space as well as high conductivity is developed for outstanding rate performance and long cycle life SIBs. In the ingeniously designed FeSe2@NC microrods, the N-doped carbon shell can facilitate mass transport/electron transfer, protect the FeSe2 core from the electrolyte, and accommodate volume variation of FeSe2 with the help of the inner void of the core. Thus, the FeSe2@NC microrods can maintain strong structural integrity upon long cycling and ensure a good reversible conversion reaction of FeSe2 during the discharge/charge process. As a result, the as-prepared FeSe2@NC microrods exhibit excellent sodium storage performance and ultrahigh stability, achieving an excellent rate capability (411 mAh g-1 at 10.0 A g-1) and a long-term cycle performance (401.3 mAh g-1 after 2000 cycles at 5.0 A g-1).Background Interleukin-23 (IL-23), a key inflammatory regulator in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, is suspected to play a role in the onset of pulmonary dysfunction (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in psoriasis. Despite that, pulmonary function tests are rarely studied in these subjects. This study aims to seek a possible relation between pulmonary function in psoriasis patients serum IL-23. Methods For this analytical cross-sectional study, male psoriasis patients in the age group of 25-45 years were recruited from dermatology out patient department (n = 40). Age and BMI matched apparently healthy individuals were recruited as control group (n = 40). After obtaining demographic and personal details, anthropometric parameters and blood pressure were recorded. The severity of psoriasis was assessed using Psoriasis Area and Severity Index score. Pulmonary function was assessed using computerized spirometry, and serum IL-23 was measured using ELISA. Results Forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1 s, peak expiratory flow rate, and forced expiratory flow at 25%-75% of the pulmonary volume (FEF25%-75%) were significantly reduced in psoriasis. Based on the percentage of predicted values FEF25%-75% was significantly reduced in psoriasis. Serum IL-23 (pg/mL) was significantly higher in psoriasis. The increase in IL-23 in psoriasis subjects does not correlate with their pulmonary function. Conclusions Psoriasis may be associated with a reduced lung function even when the disease is in the mild stage. Increased IL-23 found in these subjects is suggestive of systemic inflammation, which indirectly lowers lung function.
The aim of the study was to know the characteristics and risk factors of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in a long-term hospital is key to improve its management.

Retrospective study with 37 patients, along 43 months. We describe demographic variables, clinical data, time to diagnosis, treatment, and evolution.

Analysis of 46 episodes (37 patients, mean age=82.2 years). 77.8% were absolutely dependent, 41.7% had chronic kidney disease, 64.9% had received antibiotics in the previous three months, 40.5% received antibiotics at diagnosis. It was the first episode in 78.4%, and first recurrence in 21.6%. Therapy was started in the first 24 hours after diagnosis in 89.2%, mostly metronidazole. 83.3% recovered, 3 patients died from CDI, diagnosis was registered in the discharge report in 91.1%.

Previous antibiotic therapy, high grade of dependency and renal failure were the main risk factors. There is room for improvement in CDI management at our hospital.

People with cognitive impairment are susceptible to fall. Previous studies regarding balance and gait enrolled patients with various severity of dementia. CAY10683 purchase Quantification of the balance and gait performance of people with cognitive impairment may help identify their postural instability and fall risks.

We investigated the differences in balance and gait among older adults with preserved cognition, amnestic mild cognitive impairment, and mild dementia due to Alzheimer's disease.

Prospective observational study.

Outpatient department of neurology or psychology.

Older adults (aged ≥65 years) with independent gait were evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating scale. People with other neurological or musculoskeletal disorders were excluded.

Participants were classified into three groups 30 healthy controls, 30 mild cognitive impairment and 30 mild dementia. Balance were evaluated through functional test (Berg Balance Scale, BBS) and laboratory test (posturography). musculoskeletal problems.

Understanding the difference of specific indices of balance and gait among different severity of cognitive impairments and healthy controls could help to develop better balance-oriented rehabilitation programs in older adults at early-stage cognitive impairment.

There has been an increase in the use of questionnaires as tools for the subjective evaluation of patients with neuro-musculoskeletal problems.

To analyse the psychometric properties of the questionnaires published in Italian for the evaluation of cervical and lumbar spine pain and related dysfunction.

Systematic review.

Two blinded bibliographical searches were carried out on seven databases, regarding back, lumbar and/or cervical musculoskeletal problems. Both the structural characteristics and the psychometric aspects of each of the questionnaires were extracted from each of the selected articles. The structural characteristics were full name, acronym, author and date of adaptation to the Italian language, what it measures, number of items, time to complete, the result scale, where the points are located and cost. The psychometric aspects were standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable change (MDC), minimal clinically important difference (MCID), test-retest reliability, internal consien 0.842 and 0.942.

The Italian versions of the questionnaires present good basic structural and psychometric characteristics for the evaluation of patients with back, lumbar and/or cervical musculoskeletal disorders.

The analysis of the structural and psychometric characteristics of these questionnaires is fundamental to identify the best tools to use in research and in clinical practice.

Artificial intelligence (AI) raises many expectations regarding its ability to profoundly transform health care delivery. There is an abundant literature on the technical performance of AI applications in many clinical fields (e.g. radiology, ophthalmology). This article aims to bring forward the importance of studying organizational readiness to integrate AI into health care delivery.

The reflection is based on our experience in digital health technologies, diffusion of innovations and healthcare organizations and systems. link2 It provides insights into why and how organizational readiness should be carefully considered.

As an important step to ensure successful integration of AI and avoid unnecessary investments and costly failures, better consideration should be given to (1) Needs and added-value assessment; (2) Workplace readiness stakeholder acceptance and engagement; (3) Technology-organization alignment assessment and (4) Business plan financing and investments. In summary, decision-makers and technolle avoiding their negative impacts.
To conduct a multicenter randomized controlled trial of the efficacy of standardized Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) against acute- on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) and provide reproducible and high-level evidence for clinical practice.

This is a prospective, multicenter, centrally randomized controlled trial. Patients diagnosed with hepatitis B virus-related ACLF (n = 510) will be allocated to the standard medical therapy or CHM group at a 1∶1 ratio. Two CHMs will be used on the basis of the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome Liangxue Jiedu granules for excess syndromes and Yiqi Jiedu granules for deficiency syndromes. link3 The primary outcome is transplant-free survival at week 12. The secondary outcomes are (a) transplant-free survival at week 24, (b) liver function as assessed using the model for end-stage liver disease score at week 12, (c) liver function as assessed using the Child-Pugh score at week 12, and (d) the incidence of complications at week 12.

The effectiveness and safety of CHM formulations will be assessed following treatment for ACLF.

To explore how baseline resting-state cerebral function predicts clinical outcomes of acupuncture treatment for migraine.

One hundred migraine patients and 46 healthy subjects were recruited. Patients were randomized into the acupuncture, sham acupuncture, and waiting list groups. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were collected at baseline and after 1 month of longitudinal acupuncture treatments. Fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) calculations were applied to explore the associations between baseline fALFF and changes in clinical variables in the acupuncture treatment group and the waiting list group.

Compared with healthy subjects, migraine patients had lower fALFF in the left rostral ventromedial medulla, right thalamus, left amygdala, and right angular gyrus. Regression analyses revealed that baseline fALFF values in the left middle frontal gyrus, left superior temporal gyrus, and middle temporal gyrus were positively associated with headache intensity changes in the acupuncture treatment group, while baseline fALFF values in the bilateral lingual gyrus and cuneus were negatively associated with headache intensity changes in this group.

The baseline fALFF values of brain regions associated with cognitive pain modulation, but not migraine severity, may predict future headache intensity improvement levels in migraine patients receiving acupuncture treatment.
