The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between patients' sociodemographic factors (age, sex, ethnicity, and education background) and dimensions of patients' trust in chiropractic doctors in Malaysia.

This cross-sectional study was conducted in the International Medical University Healthcare Chiropractic Center with a total of 302 respondents. Self-administered questionnaires were enclosed in an envelope and passed to participants by the researchers. Descriptive statistics are presented in tables and figures. Each dimension of the patients' trust was compared against the sociodemographic factors. The variables included were sex, age, ethnicity, and education background, along with their dimensions of trust.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether a sample of older adult male U.S. veterans demonstrated clinically and statistically significant improvement in chronic lower back pain on validated outcome measures after a short course of chiropractic care.

We performed a retrospective review of a quality-assurance data set of outcome metrics for male veterans, aged 65 to 89 years, who had chronic low back pain, defined as pain in the lower back region present for at least 3 months before evaluation. We included those who received chiropractic management from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2018. Paired
tests were used to compare outcomes after 4 treatments on both a numeric rating scale (NRS) and the Back Bournemouth Questionnaire (BBQ). The minimum clinically important difference (MCID) was set at 30% change from baseline.

There were 217 individuals who met the inclusion criteria. The mean NRS score change from baseline was 2.2 points, representing a 34.1% reduction (
 = 13.5,
< .001). The mean score change for BBQ was 14.7 points, representing a 35.9% reduction (
 = 16.7,
< .001). The percentage of participants reaching the MCID for the NRS was 57% (n = 124) and for the BBQ was 59% (n = 126), with 41% (n = 90) of the sample reaching the MCID for both the NRS and BBQ.

The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of adding vertical downward correction to dynamic scapular recognition exercise on scapular dyskinesis and shoulder pain and disability in people with adhesive capsulitis.

Sixty-seven participants with adhesive capsulitis were randomized into 2 groups. The taping intervention group performed a dynamic scapular recognition exercise using a wireless biofeedback system and a continual vertical downward correction using rigid taping with 50% to 75% tension. The comparison group performed a similar dynamic scapular recognition exercise but with sham taping. The primary outcome measures were scapular dyskinesis, scapular upward rotation, and Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, and the secondary outcome measures were shoulder flexion, abduction, and external rotation.

After 2 weeks, there were significant differences between the taping intervention group and the comparison group in scapular dyskinesis, scapular upward rotation, shoulder flexion, abduction, and Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (
< .05), and nonsignificant differences in shoulder external rotation (
> .05). After 2 and 6 months, there were significant differences between groups in all dependent outcome measures (
< .05).

This study aimed to determine within-day intra-rater reliability of ultrasound measurements of the right and left hemidiaphragm thickness and contractility (quantified by percentage thickness change) in supine position during deep breathing in individuals with nonspecific chronic neck pain.

Seventeen volunteers (20-55 years of age) participated in this observational study. Bilateral diaphragm muscle thickness and contractility (percentage thickness change) were compared between 2 measurement sessions administered by a radiologist using B-mode real-time ultrasound (30 minutes apart). Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC [3, 3]) as well as the standard error of measurement (SEM), minimal detectable change (MDC), and the coefficient of variation (CV) were used to determine the intra-rater reliability.

The right and left hemidiaphragm thickness showed good to excellent reliability at the end of deep inspiration (ICC, 0.90; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.72-0.96; and ICC, 0. 93; 95% CI, 0.81-0.97, respectively) as well as at the end of deep expiration (ICC, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.75-0.96; ICC, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.77-0.97; SEM, 0.19; MDC, 0.54; and CV, 7.84%, respectively) and the percentage thickness change (ICC, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.54-0.94; and ICC, 0.93; 95% CI, 0.82-0.97, respectively).

The purpose of this case report is to describe the conservative treatment of a patient with musculoskeletal knee pain associated with a benign femoral osteochondroma.

An 11-year-old boy with acute left knee pain for 1 week's duration presented for chiropractic evaluation. He attributed the pain to nontraumatic provocation during football and a pre-existing benign osteochondroma located in his left femoral epiphysis. He had pain throughout his posteromedial knee and distal thigh, attributed to acute irritation of the surrounding adductor and medial hamstring musculature. His orthopedic surgeon had recommended delaying surgical excision. The patient presented for conservative pain management to continue participating in football.

A trial of conservative care was performed for 3 visits throughout 6 days. It consisted of therapeutic exercise in the form of end-range isometric exercises and gentle manual therapy, with self-management strategies including Kinesio Taping and cryotherapy. After 3 visits the patient's acute pain declined and his function and ranges of motion returned to baseline, which allowed him to continue participating in youth football unrestricted.

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench), a global staple food and forage crop, is among the most drought-adapted cereal crops, but its adaptation is not yet well understood. This study aims to better understand the genetic basis of preflowering drought in sorghum and identify loci underlying variation in water use and yield components under drought. A panel of 219 diverse sorghum from West Africa was phenotyped for yield components and water use in an outdoor large-tube lysimeter system under well-watered (WW) versus a preflowering drought water-stressed (WS) treatment. The experimental system was validated based on characteristic drought response in international drought tolerant check genotypes and genome-wide association studies (GWAS) that mapped the major height locus at QHT7.1 and Dw3. GWAS further identified marker trait associations (MTAs) for drought-related traits (plant height, flowering time, forage biomass, grain weight, water use) that each explained 7-70% of phenotypic variance. Most MTAs for drought-related traits correspond to loci not previously reported, but some MTA for forage biomass and grain weight under WS co-localized with staygreen post-flowering drought tolerance loci (Stg3a and Stg4). A globally common allele at S7_50055849 is associated with several yield components under drought, suggesting that it tags a major pleiotropic variant controlling assimilate partitioning to grain versus vegetative biomass. The GWAS revealed oligogenic variants for drought tolerance in sorghum landraces, which could be used as trait predictive markers for improved drought adaptation.Agrobacterium rhizogenes root oncogenic locus B (rolB) is known to induce hairy roots along with triggering several physiological and morphological changes when present as a transgene. However, it is still unknown how this gene triggers these changes within the plant system. In this study, the effect of rolB in-planta, when present as a transgene, was assessed on the gene expression levels of auxin response factors (ARFs)-transcription factors which are key players in auxin-mediated responses. The goal was to uncover Auxin/ARF-driven transcriptional networks potentially active and working selectively, if any, in rolB transgenic background, which might potentially be associated with hairy root development. Hence, the approach involved establishing rolB-transgenic Nicotiana tabacum plants, selecting ARFs (NtARFs) for context-relevance using bioinformatics followed by gene expression profiling. It was observed that out of the chosen NtARFs, NtARF7 and NtARF19 exhibited a consistent pattern of gene upregulation across organ types.
