greatly influenced SVA, with normative values similar to non-obese patients who were 10 years older. Age-adjusted alignment thresholds should take BMI into account, calling for less rigorous alignment objectives in older and obese patients.Subcutaneous infliximab recently received approval for the treatment of various immune-mediated inflammatory diseases in Europe, following pivotal clinical trials in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Subcutaneous infliximab demonstrated an improved pharmacokinetic profile compared with intravenous infliximab the more stable exposure and increased systemic drug concentrations mean it has been cited as a biobetter. Alongside the pharmacokinetic advantages, potential benefits for efficacy, immunogenicity, and health-related quality-of-life outcomes have been suggested with subcutaneous infliximab. During the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, the benefits of subcutaneous over intravenous therapies became apparent switching from intravenous to subcutaneous infliximab reduced the hospital visit-related healthcare resource burden and potential viral transmission. Clinical advantages observed in pivotal trials are also being seen in the real world. Accumulating experience from four European countries (the UK, Spain, France, and Germany) in patients with rheumatic diseases and inflammatory bowel disease supports clinical trial findings that subcutaneous infliximab is well tolerated, increases serum drug concentrations, and offers maintained or improved efficacy outcomes for patients switching from intravenous infliximab. Initial evidence is emerging with subcutaneous infliximab treatment after intravenous infliximab failure. High patient satisfaction and pharmacoeconomic benefits have also been reported with subcutaneous infliximab. Treatments aligned with patient preferences for the flexibility and convenience of at-home subcutaneous administration could boost adherence and treatment outcomes. Altogether, findings suggest that switching from intravenous to subcutaneous infliximab could be advantageous, and healthcare professionals should be prepared to discuss supporting data as part of shared decision making during patient consultations. Many studies documented the "glass ceiling" effect for women in surgery achievements in academic and leadership positions are not consistent with the percentage of female surgeons in practice. A solid surgical case volume and expertise in high-complexity cases are required to pursue leadership positions. The aim of the study was to determine whether part of the difficulties encountered by female surgeons may lie in reduced surgical opportunities. This is the first study to investigate this issue in Italy. An online survey, conceived and promoted by Women in Surgery Italia, was administered through the RedCap platform, between November and December 2020, and female surgeons actively working in Italian academic and non-academic hospitals were invited to answer anonymously. A multivariate analysis was performed to evaluate the role of different factors on two main variables overall procedures done and a sub-analysis of complex cases performed as first surgeon. 1810 respondents were included; the women who responded participated in 3% fewer cases on average, when compared to the mean staff case volume, and were significantly more often listed as the assistant surgeon and as primary surgeons in low-complexity cases. 36.5% of the respondents declared that at least one female physician on staff had to abandon the operatory room (OR) and does not regularly perform any surgical procedure. 73% female surgeons would like to spend more hours in the OR. While acquiring skills and surgical autonomy, many obstacles still exist for female surgeons. A portion of women are relegated to non-surgical activities, irrespective of their specialty, and these results confirm the theory that gender-biased underemployment still exists in surgical fields.Despite current evidence, the use of drains in liver surgery is still controversial. We conducted an international survey to investigate the clinical use of drains in the E-AHPBA, A-HPBA and A-PHPBA communities. An open survey of 30 questions was prepared on Google-Form and distributed by email to all members. One hundred and ninety-one HPB surgeons responded to the survey. One hundred and twelve surgeons (58.6%) reported routine use of abdominal drains after liver resections. Eighty-eight (46.1%) responded that removal was driven by low volume and low bilirubin levels in the drains. For minor liver resection, 97 (50.8%) surgeons reported using drains selectively; in contrast, 134 (70.2%) surgeons prefer to use a drain always after major procedures. Among patients with cirrhosis, 87 (45.5%) surgeons reported routine drains placement, while 84 (44.0%) considered drains selectively. A no-drain policy was most prevalent among surgeons from North America (80%) versus Asian-Pacific (70.0%), European and African (60.8%), and South American (61.5%) surgeons. Cytoskeletal Signaling inhibitor Among minimally invasive surgeons, 74.2% reported drain use only in selected cases versus 35.0% among surgeons who performed open surgery. The practice of draining after liver surgery is still highly variable among centers and surgeons around the world, with a high variability according to the underlying liver condition and planned surgical approach.Natural chalcopyrite was evaluated as heterogeneous Fenton catalyst. Catalytic performance was evaluated considering different systems, catalyst dosage, H2O2 concentration, and reaction temperature, and increasing the parameters favors rhodamine B degradation. Effect of aqueous matrix was systematically examined, involving solution pH, anions, cations, dissolved organic matter, and initial pollutant concentration. The degradation performance is slightly influenced by these parameters. Rhodamine B removal is 96.5% within 120 min, the rate constant ranges from 0.0086 min-1 to 0.0415 min-1 depending on temperature, and the activation energy is 79 kJ/mol. Effective degradation of different persistent organic pollutants including methylene blue, malachite green, sodium butyl xanthate, tetracycline, and p-nitrophenol is verified by UV-vis spectra. Natural chalcopyrite was characterized by advanced techniques including scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Reactions between chalcopyrite and H2O2 cause copper leaching and iron oxidation. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance reveal the dominant role of hydroxyl radical in catalytic process. The catalytic mechanism induced by surface iron and leached copper derived from chalcopyrite is proposed.Over-application of fertilizers could not improve crop yield and agronomic efficiency, but result in increasing nitrogen (N) surplus and adverse effects on the ecosystem sustainability. Although some previous studies have addressed one or a few environmental aspects in crop production, an integrated assessment for the effects of N fertilizer on multiple environmental impacts, and the optional steps of normalization and weighting is required. A consecutive 2-year plot-based field experiment was conducted with five N fertilizer levels (0, 90, 180, 270, and 360 kg N ha-1) in maize production at three sites in Southwest China, to evaluate the environmental performance and sustainability through joint use of life cycle assessment (LCA) and energy consumption analysis. Results demonstrated that the optimal N rate (180 kg N ha-1) showed greater potential for maintaining high yield (achieved 86% of the yield potential) and reducing the global warming (- 31%), acidification (- 47%), eutrophication (- 44%) compared to farmers' practice, and energy depletion potentials, by reducing pollutants emission during the production and transportation of N fertilizer and Nr losses at farm stage. Optimal N treatment indirectly reduced the land use, life-cycle human toxicity, aquatic eco-toxicity, and terrestrial eco-toxicity potentials by improving grain yield and agronomic efficiency. In addition, the optimal N treatment reduced the energy consumption by enhancing the energy use efficiency (EUE) (+ 74%) and reducing non-renewable energy form (- 45%) than the farmer's practice. This study will provide comprehensive information for both scientists and farmers involved in maize production and N management in subtropical region.Nowadays, groundwater is under stress due to contamination, over-exploitation, seawater intrusion, climate change, etc. The groundwater contamination is the major problem which can engender the total deterioration of the aquifer. The groundwater vulnerability assessment may contribute to predicate and to delimitate the areas affected by contamination or any future pollution. This research aims to zoning the potential pollution of the Bouficha shallow aquifer, located in the northeast Tunisia, using the SI model and GIS. Five parameters are presented in the SI model depth to groundwater (D), recharge (R), aquifer media (A), topography (T), and land use (LU). The different parameters were collected from diverse sources for assess groundwater vulnerability. The net recharge map was generated using GIS-based multi-criteria analysis method based on different parameters (slope, lithology, LU, soil, and drainage density). The generated vulnerability map shows three vulnerability classes low vulnerability ( less then 45), moderate vulnerability (45-64), and high vulnerability (64-84) which represent 3.14%, 76.8%, and 20.06% of the total area, respectively. The SI vulnerability represent a moderate positive correlation with the measured nitrate concentrations (R2 = 0.76). The sensitivity analysis shows that the land use parameter is the most influential parameter for groundwater vulnerability in BFC.The Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) is a highly influential economic belt and an innovative demonstration belt for the protection and restoration of ecological and environmental systems. The dynamic coordination between economic development system (EDs) and water pollution control capability system (WPCCs) is a critical issue to be solved for regional sustainable development. However, this topic has not been adequately addressed in previous studies. To bridge this gap, this paper analyzed the spatiotemporal differentiation and obstacle factors influencing the coupling coordination between EDs and WPCCs in the Chinese Five-Year Plan based on coupling coordination degree model and obstacle degree model. The main results suggest that (1) the comprehensive level of the comprehensive level of water pollution control capability presents an upward trend with the increase of economic development. A J-shaped relationship existed between the EDs and WPCCs. (2) The regions with rapid economic growth are mainly distributed in the Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Chongqing, and Sichuan. Moreover, water pollution control capability system shows this pattern, eastern regions > western regions > central regions. (3) The coupling coordination level of each region in the YREB has improved from a moderately unbalanced development level to a superiorly balanced development level from 2006 to 2019. (4) Per capita gross domestic product, gross product of tertiary industry, total volume of waste water treated, and per daily volume treated of sewage treatment facilities are the major indexes influencing the coordinated development of the EDs and WPCCs. These findings are conductive to formulating reasonable strategies for water environment protection and sustainable development and providing a direction for urban planning.
