In turn, this would decrease the burden on the health systems in host countries.We aimed to evaluate the chemical composition, production yield, and economic viability of Minas Frescal cheese produced with milk from buffaloes supplemented with açai seed as a substitute for corn meal. The experiment used five Murrah crossbred buffaloes with a mean body weight of 577 ± 20.4 kg, maintained under Megathyrsus maximus cv. Mombaça grazing in a 5 × 5 Latin square design. The treatments comprised four concentrate supplements, in which açai seed replaced corn meal at 0, 33, 66, and 100% substitution, and a control with no concentrate supplementation. Replacement of corn meal with açai seed in buffalo diet had no effect on chemical composition of produced cheese (P > 0.05) nor was there any difference in chemical composition between the control group and animals supplemented with concentrate (P > 0.05). The adjusted cheese yield (kg cheese/cow/day) demonstrated a quadratic pattern with maximum production at 33% açai seed substitution (P  less then  0.05). Hence, the profitability index (percentage of gross revenue) was greatest at this replacement level. In conclusion, 33% açai seed replacement of corn meal in the supplement of buffalo under a grazing regime improved the individual yield of Minas Frescal cheese without changing its chemical composition.Launaea spinosa is used as an anti-inflammatory agent traditionally. This study was conducted to evaluate anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic activities of methanol extract of Launaea spinosa. Extraction was performed by maceration and the resultant green coloured extract was labelled as Ls.Me. Solubility analysis showed that Ls.Me was miscible with distilled water, normal saline, ethanol and methanol. Metal analysis following acid digestion method exhibited the presence of copper, magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc and calcium. Phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of different classes of secondary metabolites in Ls.Me. EN4 datasheet HPLC analysis showed the presence of quercetin, gallic acid, caffeic acid, benzoic acid and sinapic acid in Ls.Me. Data of in vitro antioxidant assays showed moderate antioxidant potential of Ls.Me which was also confirmed by data of in vivo enzymes (SOD, CAT, and TSP) assays. Antimicrobial assays data showed that Ls.Me was active against S.aureus and S.epidermidis (bacterial) as wellsignificant (p  less then  0.05) reduction in TNF-α and IL-6 levels in serum of animals treated with Ls.Me. Data of in vivo angiogenesis assay showed that 200 µg/ml of Ls.Me significantly halted vasculature development indicating its potent anti-angiogenic potential. On the basis of findings of the current study, it is concluded that multiple phytochemicals present in Ls.Me act synergistically to produce anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects. Further studies are required to standardize the plant extract and explore its safety profile.The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade pathway, which has three components, MAP3Ks, MKKs and MPKs, is involved in diverse biological processes in plants. In the current study, MAPK cascade genes were identified in three cotton species, based on gene homology with Arabidopsis. Selection pressure analysis of MAPK cascade genes revealed that purifying selection occurred among the cotton species. Expression pattern analysis showed that some MAPK cascade genes differentially expressed under abiotic stresses and phytohormones treatments, and especially under drought stress. Yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) and bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) experiments showed extensive interactions between different MAPK cascade proteins. Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) assays showed that some MAPK cascade modules play important roles in the drought stress response, and the GhMAP3K14-GhMKK11-GhMPK31 signal pathway was demonstrated to regulate drought stress tolerance in cotton. This study provides new information on the function of MAPK cascade genes in the drought response, and will help direct molecular breeding for improved drought stress tolerance in cotton.BACKGROUND We analysed the impact of clinical study design for oncological pharmaceuticals on the subsequent price negotiations after early benefit assessment between pharmaceutical companies and the German National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds. The analysis was conducted for all oncology pharmaceuticals that underwent the early benefit assessment in Germany since its introduction in 2011 up to September 2016. METHODS It was differentiated between additive (new therapy in addition to baseline therapy) and substitutive study designs (baseline therapy to be replaced). The study design was derived from the dossiers of the pharmaceutical companies submitted to the Federal Joint Committee. Subgroup specific costs in case of granted added benefit were calculated as annual therapy costs and compared with the costs of the appropriate comparators to quantify price premiums. Further price influencing factors were analysed in univariate and multivariate regression analysis considering the budget impacc categories the number of cases was small. Further analyses should be performed when more oncology pharmaceuticals have passed the early benefit assessment.The development of Portunus trituberculatus egg cells is directly related to the nutritional status of the fertilized egg, which affects the key production stages of offspring hatching. The c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) is an important member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) superfamily and plays an important role in cell proliferation, transformation, differentiation, and apoptosis. At present, there are no reports on the involvement of the JNK signaling pathway in the reproductive regulation of P. trituberculatus. In this study, rapid amplification of complementary DNA ends amplification technology was used to clone the full length of JNK complementary DNA, which has a length of 2094 bp, including an open reading frame (ORF) of 1266 bp encoding a 421-amino acid protein. The protein includes the S_TKC conserved domain with a TPY phosphorylation site, which is a typical feature of the JNK gene fam that the JNK signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of Vg synthesis and ovarian development in P. trituberculatus. The results of this study further add to the knowledge of the breeding biology of P. trituberculatus and provide a theoretical reference for the optimization of breeding techniques in aquaculture production systems.This study aimed to validate the Oral Health-related Self-Efficacy Scale for Patients with Cancer (OSEC), comprised of 17 questions (five factors). To this end, a sample of 203 cancer patients was recruited (August 2018-April 2019) followed by a random subsampling for test-retest reliability. Concurrent validity was tested by correlating scores with the Self-efficacy Scale for Advanced Cancer (SEAC), discriminant validity was tested by comparing high OSEC to low OSEC groups, and predictive validity was tested using a plaque control record. Five OSEC factors had Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.75 to 0.88. The intraclass correlation coefficient of the total score was 0.92 upon test-retest reliability. The factor-level scores significantly related to all the SEAC factor-level scores. The differences between the high OSEC and low OSEC groups were statistically significant in the total score and on all factor-level scores (p  less then  0.01). The plaque control record of the high OSEC group was significantly lower than that of the low OSEC group (p  less then  0.01). In conclusion, the OSEC can be used for understanding cancer patients' motives for oral care behaviors and applied to program planning to increase self-efficacy and health behaviors.In the present investigation, a series of dihydrotriazine derivatives-bearing 5-aryloxypyrazole moieties were synthesized and their structures were confirmed by different spectral tools. The biological evaluation in vitro revealed that some of the target compounds exerted good antibacterial and antifungal activity in comparison with the reference drugs. Among these novel hybrids, compound 10d showed the most potent activity with minimum inhibitory concentration values (MIC) of 0.5 µg/mL against S. aureus 4220, MRSA 3506 and E. coli 1924 strain. The cytotoxic activity of the compounds 6d, 6m, 10d and 10g was assessed in MCF-7 and HeLa cells. Growth kinetics study showed significant inhibition of bacterial growth when treated with different conc. of 10d. In vitro enzyme study implied that compound 10d exerted its antibacterial activity through DHFR inhibition. Moreover, significant inhibition of biofilm formation was observed in bacterial cells treated with MIC conc. of 10d as visualized by SEM micrographs. Twenty-nine target compounds were designed, synthesized and evaluated in terms of their antibacterial and antifungal activities.Endovascular techniques for treating cerebral aneurysms are rapidly advancing and require testing to optimize device configurations. The purpose of this work was to customize tissue-engineered aneurysm "blood vessel mimics" (aBVMs) for early stage in vitro assessment of vascular cell responses to flow diverters and other devices. Aneurysm scaffolds with varying neck size and height were created through solid modeling, mold fabrication, mandrel creation, and electrospinning. Scaffold dimensions and fiber morphology were characterized. aBVMs were created by depositing human smooth muscle and endothelial cells within scaffolds, and cultivating within perfusion bioreactors. These vessels were left untreated or used for flow diverter implantation. Cellular responses to flow diverters were evaluated at 3 days. Custom scaffolds were created with aneurysm neck diameters of 2.3, 3.5, and 5.5 mm and with aneurysm heights of 2, 5, and 8 mm. A set of scaffolds with varying neck size was used for aBVM creation, and dual-sodding of endothelial and smooth muscle cells resulted in consistent and confluent cellular linings. Flow diverters were successfully implanted in a subset of aBVMs, and initial cell coverage over devices was seen in the parent vessel at 3 days. Direct visualization of the device over the neck region was feasible, supporting the future use of these models for evaluating and comparing flow diverter healing. Tissue-engineered aneurysm models can be created with custom neck sizes and heights, and used to evaluate cellular responses to flow diverters and other endovascular devices.
