05. A surface plasmon resonance band was fixed at 302 nm after SCD optimization of UV results. A bond stretching at 1633 cm-1 in FTIR spectra was assigned to C=O, which slightly shifts towards a larger wavelength in the presence of saccharides in the solution. The presence of FCC structured AgNPs with an average size of 15 nm was confirmed from XRD and EDX spectra under optimized conditions. The antibacterial activity of these nanoparticles was checked against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli strains by adopting the shake flask method. The antibacterial study revealed the slightly better performance of AgNPs against Staph. aureus strain than Escherichia coli.Zinc sulfide (ZnS) nanowires represent a promising candidate in many fields, including optoelectronics and photocatalysis because of their advantages such as excellent optical properties, chemical stability and an easy-scalable simple synthesis method. In this study, an energy-friendly microwave radiation process was used to develop the single-step, solvothermal process for the growth of manganese-doped zinc sulfide (ZnS) and undoped nanocrystals (NCs) in the forms of nanowires using two short amines as a stabilizer, e.g. ethylenediamine and hydrazine, respectively. ZnS nanowires doped with Mn atoms show absorbance in UV and in the visible region of the spectrum. The photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B in the presence of Mn-doped and undoped ZnS nanocrystals illuminated with only a 6-W UV lamp has been comprehensively studied. The effect of Mn doping and the presence of a nanocrystal stabilizer on the degradation process was determined. It was found that the efficiency of a photocatalytic degradation process was strongly affected by both factors the doping process of nanowires with Mn2+ atoms and the attachment of ligands to the nanocrystal surface. In the present research we propose a model to assess the water vapors adsorption capacity of a SiO2 trap in the breathing circuit, aiming to reduce the loading of interfering compounds in human breath samples. In this study we used photoacoustic spectroscopy to analyze the SiO2 adsorption of interfering compounds from human breath and numerical simulations to study the flow of expired breath gas through porous media. As a result, the highest adsorption rate was achieved with a flow rate of 300 sccm, while the lowest rate was achieved with a flow rate of 600 sccm. In the procedure of H2O removal from the human breath air samples, we determined a quantity of 213 cm3 SiO2 pearls to be used for a 750 mL sampling bag, in order to keep the detection of ethylene free of H2O interference. The data from this study encourages the premise that the SiO2 trap is efficient in the reduction of interfering compounds (like water vapors) from the human breath. The formation process of Particulate Matter (PM) during sludge pyrolysis at different temperatures (300-700 °C) and the ecological risks of heavy metals were studied. The results showed that the particulate matter is mainly condensed on the quartz film in a carbon-based organic matter when the pyrolysis temperature was between 200-500 °C in a volatilization process. Inorganic particles was found in the particulate matter when the temperature was raised to 500-700 °C in a decomposition stage. Heavy metals were enriched in particulate matter with increase in pyrolysis temperature. When the temperature reached 700 °C, the concentration of Pb and Cd in the particulate matter significantly increased. The ecological risk assessment showed that heavy metals in the sewage sludge had considerable ecological toxicity. When the pyrolysis temperature reached 700 °C, the ecological toxicity of those heavy metals enriched in the particulate matter decreased considerably. The swash-plate axial piston pump is one of the most widely used pumps due to its simplicity and compactness in structure. In such a pump, the piston-cylinder system plays a crucial role, with its lubrication characteristics greatly affecting the overall pumping performance. A new numerical approach is proposed in this study for modeling mixed lubricated piston-cylinder interfaces of variable lengths in swash-plate axial piston pumps in the framework of multibody dynamics. The approach couples the hydrodynamic mixed lubrication model of the piston-cylinder interface with the multibody dynamics model of the piston pump. The lubrication model is established with a transient average Reynolds equation considering asperity contacts and is solved with the finite element method to derive the hydrodynamic forces of the lubricated pair, while the multibody dynamics model is established with Lagrangian formalism by considering hydrodynamic forces as external forces. Results for piston-cylinder interfaces of variable lengths in swash-plate axial piston pumps are presented, and the impacts of cylinder length and the tilt angle of the swash plate on the tribological performances of the interface are discussed. The results indicate that increasing the cylinder length can improve the stability and wear resistance of the piston, but it can exacerbate the frictional power loss. Moreover, although enlarging the tilt angle of the swash plate can effectively increase pump displacement, it can easily lead to serious friction, wear, and leakage problems. 4-Phenylbutyric acid in vivo Consequently, the tilt angle of the swash plate should be carefully selected in practical applications.Numerical methods are widely used in structural analysis problems. In the cases of the most complex and practical problems, they are often the only way to obtain solutions, as analytical methods prove ineffective. The motivation for this paper was the desire to extend the scope of numerical methods to cover the problems of creating constitutive models of structural materials. The aim of this research was to develop a matrix or numerical discrete constitutive model of materials. It presents the general assumptions of the developed method for modeling the physical properties of materials. The matrix model is only useful with an appropriate numerical algorithm. Such an algorithm was created and described in this paper. Based on its findings, computer software was developed to perform numerical simulations. Presented calculation examples confirmed the effectiveness of the developed method to create constitutive matrix models of various typical materials, such as steel, but also, e.g., hyper-elastic materials. It also presents the usefulness of constitutive matrix models for simulations of simple stress states and analyses of structural elements such as reinforced concrete. All presented examples involved the physical nonlinearity of the materials. It is proved that the developed matrix constitutive model of materials is efficient and quite versatile. In complex analyses of structures made of nonlinear materials, it can be used as an effective alternative to classical constitutive or analytical models based on elementary mathematical functions. The studies following HEA inceptions were apparently motivated to search for single-phase solid solution over intermetallic phases, accordingly made possible by the concept of high configurational entropy. However, it was realised that the formation of intermetallic phases in HEAs is prevalent due to other criterions that determine stable phases. Nonetheless, recent efforts have been directed towards attributes of microstructural combinations. In this viewpoint, the techniques used to predict microstructural features and methods of microstructural characterisation are elucidated in HESA fields. The study further analyses shortcomings regarding the design approaches of HESAs. A brief history is given into how HESAs were developed since their birth, to emphasize the evaluation techniques used to elucidate high temperature properties of HESAs, and the incentive thereof that enabled further pursuit of HESAs in the direction of optimal microstructure and composition. The theoretical models of strengthening mechanisms in HEAs are explained. The impact of processing route on the HESAs performance is analysed from previous studies. Thereafter, the future of HESAs in the market is conveyed from scientific opinion. Previous designs of HEAs/HESAs were more based on evaluation experiments, which lead to an extended period of research and considerable use of resources; currently, more effort is directed towards computational and theoretical methods to accelerate the exploration of huge HEA composition space.Implants and materials are indispensable in trauma and orthopedic surgery. The continuous improvements of implant design have resulted in an optimized mechanical function that supports tissue healing and restoration of function. One of the still unsolved problems with using implants and materials is infection. Trauma and material implantation change the local inflammatory situation and enable bacterial survival and material colonization. The main pathogen in orthopedic infections is Staphylococcus aureus. The research efforts to optimize antimicrobial surfaces and to develop new anti-infective strategies are enormous. This mini-review focuses on the publications from 2021 with the keywords S. aureus AND (surface modification OR drug delivery) AND (orthopedics OR trauma) AND (implants OR nails OR devices). The PubMed search yielded 16 original publications and two reviews. The original papers reported the development and testing of anti-infective surfaces and materials five studies described an implant surface modification, three developed an implant coating for local antibiotic release, the combination of both is reported in three papers, while five publications are on antibacterial materials but not metallic implants. One review is a systematic review on the prevention of stainless-steel implant-associated infections, the other addressed the possibilities of mixed oxide nanotubes. The complexity of the approaches differs and six of them showed efficacy in animal studies. This research examined the performance of functionally graded two-stage fibrous concrete (FTSFC) against modified repeated falling-mass impacts. This study led to the concept of creating improved multiphysics model of fibre composites with better impact resistance for potential protective constructions. FTSFC was developed based on the bio-inspiring strength of turtle shells. The excellent impact resistance of FTSFC was accomplished by including a larger quantity of steel and polypropylene fibres in the outer layers. At the same time, one- and two-layered concrete were cast and compared to evaluate the efficiency of three-layered FTSFC. To minimize the dispersed test results, a modified form of the 544 drop-mass impact test was recommended by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). The modification was a knife-edge notched specimen instead of a solid cylindrical specimen without a notch. This modification predefined a crack path and reduced the dispersion of results. Cracking and failure impact numbers, ductility index, and failure mode were the testing criteria. The suggested modification to the ACI impact test decreased the coefficient of variance, showing that the dispersion of test results was reduced significantly. This study led to the concept of creating improved, fibre composites with better impact resistance for potential protective constructions.
