To determine the effectiveness of microlearning in improving an individual's capability for self-care.

Systematic review of the literature.

The routine adoption of health seeking self-care behaviours can prevent or delay the appearance of various lifestyle diseases including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. see more delivers complex knowledge in fragments or bite-size 'nuggets' of information and has been applied as a novel intervention to improve individual's self-care capabilities. The aim of this research was to systematically review the literature to determine the effectiveness of microlearning in improving individual self-care capability.

A search was conducted on 15 July 2019 across five electronic bibliographic databases EMBASE, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL and Scopus. Randomised and non-randomised controlled trials, controlled before-after studies and interrupted time series studies, published between 1 January 1990 and 15 July 2019 and looking at individuals of all ages were incl positively influence individuals' cognitive self-care capabilities but was largely ineffective in triggering actual self-care behaviour change. More studies are needed to investigate the effectiveness of microlearning in improving self-care capabilities amongst the general population at scale. The transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)/Smads signal plays an important role in cancer metastasis by mediating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cancer cells. lnc-TSI is a recently identified long noncoding RNA that negatively regulates the TGF-β/Smads signal. #link# The present study was conducted to test the hypothesis that lnc-TSI inhibits metastasis in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) by regulating the TGF-β/Smad3 pathway. Herein, we show that lnc-TSI was upregulated in ccRCC cells and tissue and was associated with activation of the TGF-β/Smads signal. Depleting lnc-TSI enhanced tumor cell invasion and metastasis in vitro and ccRCC lung metastasis in vivo, whereas overexpressing lnc-TSI inhibited ccRCC cell invasion and tumor metastasis. Mechanistic studies indicated that lnc-TSI specifically inhibited the phosphorylation of Smad3 and subsequent EMT by binding with the MH2 domain of Smad3 to block the interaction between Smad3 and TGF-β receptor I in ccRCC cells. In a cohort of 150 patients with ccRCC, expression of lnc-TSI in tumors was negatively correlated with phosphorylated (p)Smad3 and activated EMT markers. Patients with expression of tumor lnc-TSI greater than or equal to the median at radical nephrectomy had a higher survival rate compared to those with lnc-TSI below the median during follow-up. These findings reveal a new regulatory mechanism of ccRCC metastasis and suggest a potential molecular target for the development of anti-cancer drugs. In situ thermal treatment (ISTT) technologies can be used to remove mass from non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) source zones. Ensuring the vaporization of NAPL and the capture of vapors are crucial, and numerical models are useful for understanding the processes that affect performance to help improve design and operation. In this paper, a two-dimensional model that combines a continuum approach based on finite difference for heat transfer with a macroscopic invasion percolation (macro-IP) approach for gas migration was developed to simulate thermal conductive heating (TCH) applications at the field-scale. This approach simulates heat transport and gas migration, but is different than a traditional continuum multiphase approach. Mass recovery for 60 randomly generated realizations under three degrees of heterogeneity of the permeability field were simulated. The mass recovery curves had an overall similar shape for the various permeability fields. However, a wider range of completion times was observed for domains with a higher permeability variance. Results also showed that NAPL pools that were highly saturated, deep, and away from the heaters needed more heating time to be depleted, and that total NAPL mass was not a good indicator of completion time. The completion time was positively correlated with the maximum value of the mixed spatial moment of NAPL saturation about the heaters in the lateral and vertical direction, and the NAPL pool with the highest moment could increase the heating time by as much as 35%. This effect was most notable in simulations with a high permeability variance and suggests the potential to reduce heating time by locating the largest NAPL pools and placing TCH heaters accordingly.
The purpose of our study is to compare seizure-free outcome and the incidence of visual field deficits (VFD) between anterior temporal lobectomy (ATL) and selective amygdalohippocampectomy (SAH) among patients with intractable temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).

We searched MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane databases using keywords related to ATL, SAH and VFD. Previous studies that compared ATL and SAH with seizure-free outcome and the incidence of VFD were included. A fixed-effect model was used to conduct meta-analysis. link2 Risk ratio with 95% confidence intervals were pooled and used to elucidate each outcome.

Twenty-three retrospective and three prospective studies were recruited with a total of 2930 cases (1390 cases for SAH and 1540 cases for ATL). The meta-analysis showed no significant difference in seizure freedom (SAH 63.5% vs ATL 63.8%) of these two procedures (RR 0.95, 95%CI 0.90-1.01, P = 0.102), but the odds of seizure freedom in ATL was higher than transsylvian SAH approach (RR 0.89 95% CI 0.82-0.96, P hieving balance between seizure free and collateral damage should be considered in clinical practice. Well-designed randomized controlled clinical trials would be necessary to validate our findings. As a homologous material of both medicine and food, licorice is a famous traditional Chinese medicine. In the application process, different origins and different extraction methods have an impact on the intrinsic quality of licorice. In order to ensure the intrinsic quality of commercially available licorice products, and to explore the influence of origin and extraction methods on the quality of licorice, we put forward a simple and effective discriminatory method for "chemometrics analysis-based fingerprint establishment". First, fingerprints of licorice ethanol extraction (LEE) and licorice water extraction (LWE) were established. Then, similarity analysis (SA), hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA), principal component analysis (PCA) and other chemometrics methods were used to select qualitative and quantitative markers. Besides, the quantitative determination of 7 compounds of licorice with statistical significance was carried out, which provided accurate and informative data for quality evaluation. Finally, discriminant analysis was used to trace the origin of licorice.Polysaccharides are the most abundant bioactive compounds in Ganoderma and have been widely used as dietary supplements in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Polysaccharides from Ganoderma exhibit unique biological properties, including anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities. Herein, the sources and structures of polysaccharides from Ganoderma were presented. This work also reviews the immunomodulatory activities and possible mechanisms of polysaccharides from Ganoderma on different immune effector cells, including lymphocytes and myeloid cells. As an available adjunctive remedy, polysaccharides from Ganoderma can potentially be applied for the modulation of the host immune system, namely the innate immunity, the cellular immunity, and the humoral immunity. The aim of this study is to monitor the evolution of the principal phenolic compounds throughout the fermentation stage of white wines treated with different enzymes. The effect of five commercial enzymes on the evolution of the phenolic profile during the alcoholic fermentation of white wines obtained from Fetească regală and Sauvignon blanc varieties was evaluated. Physicochemical properties of resulted wine samples have been analyzed according to OIV standards and regulations. The evolution of the principal phenolic compounds was carried out using HPLC method. Enzymatic treatments did not significantly affect the physicochemical composition of the obtained wines. The analyzed samples showed different variations on the phenolic compound content, depending on the type of added enzyme and grape variety. link3 The statistical analysis confirms that enzymes significantly contributed to the enrichment of the wines with phenolic compounds, especially with p-coumaric, gentisic, caftaric, and protocatechuic acids.Studies regarding composition and evolution of oligomeric proanthocyanidin-anthocyanin adducts in red wines have often focused only on a limited number of small dimers. Now, a group-specific liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was utilized to measure two-dimensional (2D) chromatographic fingerprints of three different types of oligomeric adducts in commercial red wines. A new protocol was developed to visualize and summarize the chromatographic data. The 2D fingerprints showed how the compositions of the oligomeric adducts had typically only minor differences between wine varieties in young wines, excluding the Pinot Noir wines. Major quantitative differences were found between the wine varieties despite the lack of major compositional differences. The evolution of the concentrations differed between the three structural sub-groups, while similar general patterns were observed in the compositional evolution. Via statistical modelling, several characteristics in the polyphenolic starting material composition were tentatively suggested to affect the formation of the oligomeric adducts.Nanozymes are engineered nanomaterials with enzyme-like activities. Over the past decade, impressive progresses on nanozymes in biosensing have been made due to their unique advantages of high stability, low cost, and easy modification compared to natural enzymes. For many biosensors, it is critical to conjugate nanozymes to affinity ligands such as antibodies and aptamers. Since different nanomaterials have different surface properties, conjugation methods need to be compatible with these properties. In addition, the effect of biomolecules on nanozyme activity needs to be considered. In this review, we first categorized nanozyme-based biosensors into four parts, respectively describing noncovalent and covalent modifications with antibodies and aptamers. Meanwhile, recent advances in antibody and aptamer labeled nanozyme biosensors are summarized, and the methods of their conjugation are further illustrated. Finally, conclusions and future perspectives for the development and application of nanozyme bioconjugates are discussed.
