Recently, many new oral medications have become available to treat schizophrenia. However, ECT remains a valuable therapy for patients who are resistant to oral medications. A 16-year-old girl with schizophrenia was admitted to our hospital with hypoxaemia due to negative-pressure pulmonary oedema (NPPE) after her first ECT. NPPE is an exceedingly rare complication after ECT. However, it can result in serious morbidity if not immediately recognized and treated. This case illustrates the importance of recognizing this rare complication.A 71-year-old man, who was found to have a posterior mediastinal tumour, was referred to our hospital. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed a 15-cm soft tissue shadow in the posterior mediastinum, with many affected areas and a gradually increasing pattern. We also detected oligemic areas with poor contrast-filling. There was no invasion into the adjacent vertebral body and the blood vessels penetrating the interior were intact. Positron emission tomography-CT revealed a high maximum standardized uptake level of 4.53 in the mediastinal masses. We performed thoracoscopic surgery for the biopsy. Histological findings showed lymphoplasmacytic infiltration in the fibrous stroma as well as storiform fibrosis. Immunohistochemical examination revealed abundant infiltration of immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-positive plasma cells and 40% IgG4/IgG-positive plasma cells. Postoperative serum examinations showed a high serum IgG4 level (570 mg/dl). Accordingly, we diagnosed the patient with IgG4-related fibrosing mediastinitis, a rare manifestation of IgG4-related disease.Sarcoidosis is a disease with unknown aetiology and pathogenesis which affects young adults and is usually a non-necrotizing granulomatous disease seen in histology. Here, we perform an extensive review of the literature pertaining to FN, including its epidemiology, possible mechanisms, clinical features, treatment and prognosis.

To systematically review the safety and efficacy of IL in FM patients.

To systematically search PubMed for articles in English, Spanish, and Japanese with English Abstracts on FM and lidocaine between 1966 and February 2021. This study was registered at PROSPERO.

We found only ten articles published in this field, with a total of 461 patients. Females predominated varying from 95% to 100% in the studies. Age varied from 40.9 to 55 years old. Disease duration varied from 1 mo to 6.4 years. Lidocaine dose varied from 2 to 7.5 mg/kg
intravenous infusion. Follow-up period varied from 65.7 to 90 days. Regarding outcomes, most studies used the visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain; before short-term lidocaine administration, VAS was between 6.1 and 8.1 and after treatment was between 1.7 and 4.5 mm. Concerning long term lidocaine, VAS varied from 30% to 35.4% after lidocaine infusion. Side effects were observed in 0% to 39.6% of cases, they were usually mild or moderate.

This study demonstrates the short-term effectiveness and safety of intravenous lidocaine in FM patients. However, more studies, including long-term follow-up, are still needed.

Psychiatric disorders are common but underdiagnosed in cancer survivors. Research suggests that tumor type has an effect on the prevalence of clinically relevant depression, anxiety, comorbid anxiety-depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

To identify studies that examined the prevalence of clinically relevant levels of depression, anxiety, comorbid anxiety-depression and PTSD for patients with one or more tumor sites and compare those prevalences between cancer subtypes.

Four databases (PubMed, PsycInfo, PubPsych and the Cochrane Database) were searched and resulted in a total of 2387 articles to be screened. To be included, a study must have investigated cancer-free and posttreatment survivors using tools to assess clinically relevant levels of the listed psychiatric comorbidities. All articles were screened by two authors with a third author reviewing debated articles.

Twenty-six studies on ten different tumor types fulfilled all inclusion criteria and were included in the review. The studies showed heterogeneity regarding the study characteristics, number of participants, time since diagnosis, and assessment tools.
