Mucolipidosis III gamma (ML III γ) is a slowly progressive disorder that affects multiple parts of the body such as the skeleton, joints, and connective tissue structures. It is caused by pathogenic variants in the GNPTG gene that provides instructions for producing the γ subunit of GlcNAc-1-phosphotransferase. In this study we aim to characterize clinical findings and biological insights on two novel GNPTG variants causing ML III γ phenotypes with varying severity. We report on two siblings with ML III γ bearing the previously undescribed c.477C > G (p.Y159*) nonsense variant in a homozygous state as well as a patient with ML III γ bearing the novel c.110 + 19_111-17del variant in a homozygous state. These variants were revealed by whole-exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing, respectively. Their parents, who are heterozygotes for the same mutation, are healthy. The clinical and radiographic presentation of ML III γ in our patients who had c.477C > G (p.Y159*) variant is consistent with a relatively severe form of the disease, which is further supported by a working three-dimensional model of the GlcNAc-1-phosphotransferase γ subunit. On the other hand, it is seen that our patient who carries the c.110 + 19_111-17del variant has a milder phenotype. Our findings help broaden the spectrum of GNPTG variants causing ML III γ and offer structural and mechanistic insights into loss of GlcNAc-1-phosphotransferase γ subunit function.Physiological balance between pro- and antioxidative processes is crucial for placentation and further development of fetus and placenta. Placental and blood samples were collected from healthy, HF, pregnant (2nd-3rd month) cows (n = 8) in slaughterhouse and in farm, respectively. Per part, 25 patients will be included. In order to investigate the effects of depth of anesthesia, a processed electroencephalogram (pEEG) monitor will be used. At pEEG values of 30, 40 and 50, mTc-MEP measurements will be performed. To examine the effect of blood pressure on mTc-MEPs the mean arterial pressure will be elevated from 60 to 100 mmHg during which mTc-MEP measurements will be performed. We hypothesize that by understanding the effects of depth of anesthesia and blood pressure on mTc-MEPs, the mTc-MEP monitoring can be interpreted more reliably. This may contribute to fewer false positive warnings. By performing this study after induction and prior to incision, this protocol provides a unique opportunity to study the effects of depths of anesthesia and blood pressure on mTc-MEPs alone with as little confounders as possible. A total of 50 R-RYGB procedures were performed with the Xi and the X da Vinci systems and compared with 50 L-RYGB cases by a single surgeon from October 2018 to January 2020 at an acute-care community hospital in a rural setting with a high-volume MBSAQIP-accredited program. link2 A retrospective chart review was conducted with IRB approval and statistical analysis of 30-day morbidity, mortality, re-interventions, and resolution of co-morbidities, with financial analysis of cost reduction. Participants described wishes and hopes for autonomy and independence in finances, accommodation, and health; stable housing or accommodation; meaningful occupation or employment; 'giving back' to society by serving others; intimate relationships; and gaining back 'lost time.' Wishes and hopes were motivating factors contributing to physical, mental, and social health over time, motivating clients with mental illness to live happily. The present study evaluates the contamination of an abandoned pyrite mining area (Wieściszowice, SW Poland) and the temporal variation of the water contamination in selected locations of 2 sampling campaigns (2000 and 2015). The mining surrounding Rudawy Janowickie Mountains range is well known for the rich mining history and is considered as one of the oldest in Europe. The Wieściszowice pyrite mine was exploited for several hundreds of years and processed Fe and Cu sulfides, and sulfur. This mine was closed in 1925 because of the high competition of pyrites from Spain. Results show clearly that water samples collected in the mining area are mainly Ca-SO4 and acid/high metal, while spring water and surface water samples, representing the local geochemical background, are Ca-HCO3 and neutral-low metal. The analysis of data shows an improvement in water quality from 2000 to 2015 as well as a decreasing of water risk assessment for human use. This improvement can be related to the fact that 2015 was a very dry year, with over 60% less flow than in 2000, leading to less water contamination.The Black church has become a necessary refuge and haven for hope in turbulent times in the USA. In recent years, the Black pastors' role has evolved into the position of a leading figure in addressing health disparities in the church and community. Therefore, the purpose of this qualitative study was to gain a more extensive understanding of Black pastors' perceptions of their influence on health behaviors and outcomes in their churches and communities. link3 Due to limited research in this area, a phenomenological qualitative paradigm was used to add to future research. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 Black pastors. Four themes emerged Pastoral Self-Reflection of Health; Misperception of Health Awareness from Congregants; Pastoral Leadership that Encourages Health Promotion; and the Importance of Community Resources and Health Programs. link3 Overall, pastors viewed health as a holistic approach and included the importance of spirituality in their perspectives. Article 16 of the UDBHR expresses serious concern about the negative impact of technology in the context of the human, animal and plant genome in particular, as well as the environment in general. The Protestant concept of the covenant provides a solid theological grounding for article 16 of the UDBHR. In light of this reasoning, article 16 of the UDBHR, which has the purpose of promoting the health of future generations, can fully be defended by Protestant ethics and included in the prophetic message of the Protestant faith tradition.
