Renal function of patients with hypothyroidism increases after reaching euthyroid state. There is no data regarding geriatric age group.
Investigate whether renal function of geriatric patients with hypothyroidism increases after they become euthyroid.
65 years or older were retrospectively screened in two centers.TSH, T3, T4, creatinine and eGFR calculated by CKD-EPI formula were recorded under the presence of accompanying hypothyroidism. The same variables were recorded after the patients became euthyroid.
285 patients were included in the study. The median age was 73(65-84). 234 patients were female.Patients were examined in four groups according to TSH values. There were 160 (56.1%) patients with TSH 5-9.9 uIU/mL, 60(21.1%) patients with TSH between 10-19.9 uIU /mL, 41(14.4 %) patients with TSH between 20-49.9 uIU/mL and 24(8.4%) patients with TSH> 50uIU/mL.There was a significant and negative correlation between the initial TSH values and the first calculated eGFR values(p0.001; r-0.191).The mediad. It should be kept in mind that hypothyroidism which is not corrected in geriatric patients may also contribute to a decrease in eGFR.
The purpose of this study was to determine effect of age, gender, affected extremity, disability severity, treatment type, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) etiology, number of treatment sessions, and CVA duration on the functional improvement of the stroke patients who participated in a physical medicine and rehabilitation program.
The research sample consisted of 322 stroke patients. Clinical and demographic features including age, gender, affected extremity, disability severity, treatment type, CVA etiology, number of treatment sessions, and CVA duration were recorded. Functional status was evaluated retrospectively by using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) at admission and discharge.
It was detected that discharge FIM score of the patients exhibited an increase of significance level (p< 0.05). It was found that age, number of treatment sessions, CVA duration and FIM admission score were determinative parameters in FIM gain level (p<0.05) while gender, affected extremity and CVA etiology were not effective in FIM gain level (p>0.05).
Results show that functional improvement after rehabilitation was better in the younger ages, shorter CVA durations and moderate functional disturbances. The findings obtained may be useful for stroke rehabilitation triage.

Our aim is to determine the caregiver burden of chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) patient's caregivers, and to determine whether there is a work day loss.
252 COPD patients and their caregivers were included. Disease information of the patients were recorded and a questionnaire was applied. Socio-demographic characteristics of the caregivers were recorded and a questionnaire consisting of 24 questions including COPD disease, treatment and loss of working days and Zarit Scale were used.
128(50.8%) of the patients according to GOLD were group-D. 97(38.5%) of the patient's relatives were working. 62(24.7%) were not able to go to work for 1-14 days. 125(57.1%) spent outside the home from 1 to 14 nights, because those accompanied to patients. In univariate analysis were detected modified medical research council (mMRC) (p<0.001), CAT(p<0.001), the number of comorbidities of patients (p=0.027), forced expiratory volume in 1 FEV1cc(p=0.009), FEV1%(p<0.001), the presence of long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) and the number of comorbidities of the patient's relatives (p=0.06) increased the care load. In multipl linear regression analysis, age (p=0.03), COPD assessment test (CAT) score (p=0.001), FEV1%(<0.068) and the number of comorbidities of patients (p=0.01) and the number of comorbidities of caregivers (p=0.003) increased the caregiving burden.
In COPD increases caregiving burden. Alantolactone This burden is greater in symptomatic patients and when comorbidities are present. Psycho-social and legal regulations should be investigated and solutions should be produced for the caregivers of COPD patients.

The glenoid cavity is a sliced egg-shaped joint surface located on the lateral margin of the scapula to form the shoulder joint. Antero-superior notch affects the morphology of the glenoid cavity. Recognition of variations in shape and dimensions of the glenoid cavity is important for better comprehension of joint-associated diseases, especially in total shoulder arthroplasty procedures. The aim of this study was to perform morphometric measurements on the glenoid cavity through Multi-detector Computed Tomography images.
Glenoid cavities of 391 individuals (197 males (50.4%), 194 females (49.6%)) were reviewed by using Multi-detector Computed Tomography. CT images were examined from January 2014 to April 2016 by scanning files. The average age of men was 60.28 ± 15.43, while the average age of women was 58.82 ± 16.38. The maximum length and maximum width of glenoid cavities, the width, depth and circumference at the notch level were measured, and the index value was calculated. The glenoid cavity shapes w lesion, rotator cuff disease, and osteochondral defect. Recognition of different shapes and dimensions of the glenoid cavity is essential for the design of the glenoid component especially for total shoulder arthroplasty procedure. We believe that the data obtained in our study would be useful for prosthesis designers and orthopaedic surgeons.
It was reported in the literature that morphometric information of the glenoid cavity is useful to increase clinical success in case of different pathological conditions such as Bankart lesion, rotator cuff disease, and osteochondral defect. Recognition of different shapes and dimensions of the glenoid cavity is essential for the design of the glenoid component especially for total shoulder arthroplasty procedure. We believe that the data obtained in our study would be useful for prosthesis designers and orthopaedic surgeons.
