Three eyes in the low-fluence and one eye in the standard-fluence PDT group received a second PDT treatment. The mean number of SML treatments was 2.48±1.08. If the EZ was intact, the rate of complete resolution of SRF was higher than if the EZ was disrupted or lost.
SML, standard-fluence PDT, and low-fluence PDT can all improve visual acuity in cCSC. Standard-fluence and low-fluence PDT induced a more rapid reabsorption of the fluid, improvement of BCVA, and equal safety compared with SML. More treatment sessions of SML were required than with the other treatment modalities.

Eighteen percent of strokes occurring in young women are linked to pregnancy. They occur mostly in the third trimester or during the post-partum period. Their biggest risk factors are hypertension, preeclampsia/eclampsia and migraine. Cerebrovascular events occurring during this period may involve specific pathophysiological processes that include embolic phenomena or endothelial dysfunction, but can also have common etiologies that are simply favored by the context of pregnancy. Thus, posterior encephalopathy and vasoconstriction cerebral syndrome are relatively frequently involved in cerebrovascular complications of pregnancy. Other very specific causes like amniotic fluid embolism or postpartum cardiomyopathy can also be responsible for such events. The management of stroke during pregnancy must be multidisciplinary and include a neurovascular expertise. Some conditions can lead to a long-life follow-up and modify the management of a future pregnancy.Cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) has become one of the most important approach for structural biology. However, barriers are still there for an increased successful rate, a better resolution and improved efficiency from sample preparation, data collection to image processing. CryoEM sample preparation is one of the bottlenecks with many efforts made recently, including the optimization of supporting substrate (e.g. ultra-thin carbon, graphene, pure gold, 2d crystal of streptavidin, and affinity modification), which was aimed to solve air-water interface problem, or reduce beam induced motion (BIM), or change particle distribution in the grid hole. Here, we report another effort of developing a new supporting substrate, the amorphous nickel-titanium alloy (ANTA) film, for cryoEM sample preparation as a layer of holey supporting film covering on TEM grid. Our investigations showed advantages of ANTA film in comparison with conventional carbon film, including much better electron conductivity and trace non-specific interaction with protein. These advantages yield less BIM and significantly improved particle distribution during cryoEM experiment of human apo-ferritn, thus resulting an improved reconstruction resolution from a reduced number of micrographs and particles. Unlike the pure gold film, the usage of the ANTA film is just same with the carbon film, compatible to conventional automatic cryoEM data collection procedure.
The aim of the study was to identify emergency nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to blood sample hemolysis prevention and explore associations between these factors and demographic characteristics. The current state is unknown. Understanding baseline knowledge, attitudes, and practices addresses a gap in the literature.
An exploratory, descriptive design with cross-sectional survey methodology employing a study-specific instrument was used.
Request for participation email was sent to a random sample of 5000 Emergency Nurses Association members, and 427 usable surveys were returned (response rate= 8.5%). Mean years in nursing was 13.85 (standard deviation= 10.78), and 226 (52.9%) were certified emergency nurses. Only 85 participants (19.9%) answered all 3 knowledge questions correctly. Answering the 3 knowledge questions correctly was significantly associated with being a certified emergency nurse (χ
= 7.15, P< .01). Participant responses to attitude items about the sequelae of blood sample hemolysis were skewed toward agreement, and most attitude items were associated with whom participants reported as being primarily responsible for phlebotomy. Metabolism inhibitor Emergency nurses remain primarily responsible for phlebotomy as well as addressing hemolyzed samples, but few reported that blood sample hemolysis was addressed at a departmental level.
Findings suggest that emergency nurses lack some knowledge related to blood sample hemolysis prevention best practices. Attitudes toward phlebotomy practices may be 1 reason practice has not changed. Every effort should be made to prevent hemolyzed blood samples to decrease delays and costs in emergency care.

In addition to treating living patients, emergency nurses are also responsible for receiving and caring for persons who are dead on arrival and their relatives. There is limited knowledge about the dead on arrival patient and family population as well as care practice for the dead and their relatives. The first step in improving care for dead on arrival persons is to know the size and characteristics of the population. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the size and characteristics of the dead on arrival population in a Danish emergency department.
A retrospective review of health records was undertaken for all consecutive dead on arrival persons received in 1 Danish emergency department between January 2018 and December 2019.
A total of 719 dead on arrival persons were included, 350 in 2018 and 369 in 2019. Males accounted for 64%. The mean age was 71 years with a range from 18 to 102 years. The place of death was 80% at home, and more than half (54%) were found either dead or dying by a spouse, cohabitant, or son/daughter. In most cases, the cause of death was described as unknown (92%), whereas suicide and accidents accounted for 8%.
The population of dead on arrival persons in a Danish emergency department were mainly men, found dying or dead by relatives and brought in from home. Additional research and development are warranted regarding care practices for dead on arrival and their families in the emergency department.

Many miRNAs have been reported to involve in controlling the progression of human diseases, and one of them is miR-638, which play essential roles in regulating the development of human cancer. By targeting the 3'-ends of its targets, miR-638 can regulate cellular processes including proliferation, invasion, metastases, angiogenesis, apoptosis and inflammation. This review was aimed to summarize current findings on the roles of miR-638 in different human cancers based on the results from various in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies. The biogenesis process and tissue expression, followed by the roles of miR-638 in regulating the development of various human cancers by targeting different downstream targets were covered in this review. The potential applications and challenges of employing miR-638 as cancer biomarker and therapeutic agent were also discussed.
Venous outflow reconstruction is very important especially in right lobe living donor liver transplantation without middle hepatic vein. Various interposition (venous or synthetic) grafts have been recommended for reconstruction of anterior sector tributaries.
We aimed to describe our surgical technique and analyze anterior sector venous reconstruction using expanded polytetrafluroethylene graft. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data for 760 primary right lobe living donor liver transplantations performed at our institute between December 2011 and June 2018. Reconstruction of anterior sector expanded polytetrafluroethylene (group A, n= 705) and autologous vein (group B, n= 55).
Pretransplant characteristics were comparable among both groups. Group A has significantly lower cold ischemia time (68.7 ± .3.5 minutes vs 127.8 ± 7.2 minutes; P < .001) and anhepatic time (116.3 ± 5.5 minutes vs 190.81 ± 9.35 minutes; P < .001) compared with group B. There was no difference in recovery pattern of liver functions, morbidity, and mortality between the 2 groups. One- and 6-month patency rates of interposition grafts were 97.6% and 84.4% (group A) and 96.4% and 78.1% (group B), respectively.
In centers with limited access to homologous or autologous vascular grafts, use of expanded polytetrafluroethylene graft for anterior sector venous outflow reconstruction in right lobe living donor liver transplantation is a viable option with excellent patency and patient outcomes.

The Sars COV-2 infection causing the covid-19 disease has started in December 2019 inWuhan, China, then spread quickly to more than 100 countries in less than 3 months. On March, 11th the WHO declared officially the pandemic of Covid 19. In the absence of an effective treatment of the SARS-Cov2 the measures of social distancing and lockdown remain the most effectives ways against the pandemic. However, these measures can have repercussions in particular on patients followed for chronic diseases, the goal of our study will be to evaluate the impact of the lockdown on non-Covid cardiac patients.
We have chosen a random sample of patients followed in the cardiology department of the CHU Tangier Tetouan Alhouceima, and we collected their demographic data as well as the symptoms, vital constants, lifestyle before and 60 days after the lockdown.
A total of 100 patients were included in the study. The average age of our population is 55.34 years±15.86. The average BMI (body mass index) is 26.40 Kg/m
±5.84. The of 10% of cardiovascular events (2 cases of myocardial infarction [among which one has deceased], one death because of end stage heart failure, three hospitalizations for congestive heart failure, two cases of aortic dissections and 2 cases of rapid atrial fibrillation).
Depending on the results of this study, the sanitary lockdown induced important repercussions on the patients followed for cardiac diseases, hence the necessity of an awareness of these patients, and mostly a restructuring of our care system strongly disturbed by the Covid 19.
