Scientific eating habits study low-intensity area without attenuation as well as cholesterol crystals within non-culprit lesions on the skin assessed simply by eye coherence tomography.
'One World - One Health' is a developing concept which aims to explicitly incorporate linkages between the environment and human society into wildlife and human health care. Past work in the field has concentrated on aspects of disease, particularly emerging zoonoses, and focused on terrestrial systems. Here, we argue that marine environments are crucial components of the 'One World - One Health' framework, and that coral reefs are the epitome of its underlying philosophy. That is, they provide vast contributions to a wide range of ecosystem services with strong and direct links to human well-being. Further, the sensitivity of corals to climate change, and the current emergence of a wide range of diseases, make coral reefs ideal study systems to assess links, impacts, and feedback mechanisms that can affect human and ecosystem health. There are well established protocols for monitoring corals, as well as global networks of coral researchers, but there remain substantial challenges to understanding these complex systems, their health and links to provisioning of ecosystem services. We explore these challenges and conclude with a look at how developing technology offers potential ways of addressing them. We argue that a greater integration of coral reef research into the 'One World - One Health' framework will enrich our understanding of the many links within, and between, ecosystems and human society. This will ultimately support the development of measures for improving the health of both humans and the environment.Vibrio europaeus is an emergent pathogen affecting the most important bivalve species reared in Spanish and French hatcheries. Using a genomic approach, we identified V. europaeus outside Europe for the first time from massive larval mortalities of scallop (Argopecten purpuratus) in Chile and from seawater near a shellfish hatchery in the US West Coast. Results show the worldwide spreading and potential impact of V. europaeus for aquaculture; these four countries are among the 10 major producers of mollusks. Pathogenicity of V. europaeus was demonstrated for the first time towards scallop, the second most important species for Chilean mariculture.Macrophage mediated inflammation and foam cell formation play crucial roles in the development of atherosclerosis. MiR-375 is a small noncoding RNA that significantly implicated in multiple tumor regulation and has been emerged as a novel biomarker for type 2 diabetes. However, the exact role of miR-375 on macrophage activation remains unknown. In the present study, we observed that miR-375 expression showed an up-regulated expression in atherosclerotic aortas, as well as in bone marrow derived macrophages (BMDMs) and mouse peritoneal macrophages (MPMs) isolated from ApoE deficiency mice and was gradually increased followed the Ox-LDL treated time. Functionally, miR-375 inhibition significantly decreased foam cell formation accompanied by up-regulated genes expression involved in cholesterol efflux but reduced genes expression implicated in cholesterol influx. Moreover, miR-375 silencing increased resolving M2 macrophage but reduced pro-inflammatory M1 macrophage markers expression. Such above effects can be reversed by miR-375 overexpression. Mechanistically, we noticed that miR-375 knockdown promoted KLF4 expression which was required for the ameliorated effect of miR-375 silencing on macrophage activation. Importantly, the consistent results in mRNA expression of M1 and M2 markers were observed in vivo, and miR-375-/-ApoE-/- mice significant decreased atherosclerotic lesions in the whole aorta and aortic sinus. Taken together, these evidences suggested that miR-375 knockdown attenuated macrophage activation partially through activation of KLF4-dependent mechanism.Since chronic, non-healing wounds represent an increasing source of economic and temporal burden for patients who suffer from them and healthcare professionals that treat them, therapeutic modalities that promote closure of delayed and non-healing wounds are of utmost importance. Recent clinical results of allografts derived from amnion and chorion placental layers encourage further investigation of the mechanisms underlying clinical efficacy of these products for treatment of wounds. Here, we utilized a diabetic murine splinted excisional wound model to investigate the effects of a dehydrated human amnion/chorion-derived allograft (dHACA) on delayed wound healing, as well as the effects of dehydrated allograft derived solely from amnion tissue of the same donor. We examined wound healing by histological endpoint analysis, and we assessed other parameters relevant to functional wound healing in the wound bed including angiogenesis, macrophage phenotypes, proliferative activity, and gene expression. Herein we demonstrate that application of dHACA to a murine diabetic model of delayed wound progression results in better macroscale wound resolution outcomes, including rate of closure, compared to unaided wound progression, while dehydrated human amnion allograft (dHAA) fails to improve outcomes. Improved gross wound resolution observed with dHACA was accompanied by increased granulation tissue formation, proliferation and vascular ingrowth observed in the wound bed, early macrophage polarization towards anti-inflammatory phenotypes, and downregulation of pro-fibrotic gene expression. Overall, our data suggest that improvements in the rates of delayed wound closure observed from combined amnion/chorion allografts are associated with modulation of critical cellular and tissue processes commonly found to be dysregulated in delayed healing wounds, including proliferation, vascularization, inflammation, and re-epithelialization.
Describe the array of gender identities among procedural abortion patients.

Cross-sectional survey of abortion patients in three clinics in Massachusetts. Following aspiration abortion procedures and prior to discharge, patients self-administered a survey on a tablet.

From November 2017 through July 2018, 1,553 aspiration abortion patients completed the survey (participation rate 82%). Patients reported several gender identities. Non-binary (0.4%) and agender (0.4%) were the most common identities after female (91.1%) and woman (6.0%). Overall, 2.7% of patients identified as a gender other than female or woman.

Aspiration abortion patients have a variety of gender identities. To promote quality of care for all patients, abortion providers can ensure their names, marketing materials, patient forms, and clinical environments are gender inclusive rather than focusing on women's health.
