Results also suggest that floor heating, decrease of particle concentration, weaken of heat transfer, enhancement of mass transfer, and air infiltration in window gap contribute to decrease DEHP concentration.Zoo-housed pelicans are commonplace, but their breeding record is poor and little research is published on the activity patterns, as potential predictors of nesting, of captive flocks. Existing literature shows that comparative research can provide useful information for husbandry and conservation planning for pelican populations. The opportunity arose to investigate the time-activity budget and social network of a breeding flock of captive great white pelicans. Three chicks were hatched in June and July 2016 and one in March 2017. Data on state behaviors, space use, and association preferences were collected around these nesting events, from October 2016 to February 2017 and July to October 2017. Results suggest that pre-nesting periods were associated with heightened flock-wide vigilance, suggesting that vigilance may be a precursor for courtship or nesting activity. Social network analysis revealed nonrandom associations between birds and a social structure across the flock, in which subadults seemed to associate more with each other than with adult birds. A limited visitor effect was noted; whilst no overall behavior change was apparent with different numbers of visitors, pelicans did widen their enclosure usage with increased visitor presence. These data are relevant to those attempting to breed this pelican, who wish to know more about the daily behavior patterns of this species across the season and physiological state, and who wish to understand pelican social structure, which is useful to the planning and implementation of bird moves or changes to the social environment of the flock. Further extending such research to include uninterrupted observation over a successful breeding event is recommended.
To build and preliminarily validate a Spanish-language instrument to assess the impact that CNCP has on the daily lives of people who suffer from it.

The experience of pain is multifactorial and a correct assessment of it helps to control the intensity of pain. Although there are instruments that evaluate areas on which Chronic Non-Cancer Pain impacts, it would be necessary to include other aspects that scientific literature identifies as relevant.

Instrument and construct cross-sectional study for psychometric validation.

A total of 157 items based on items from validated questionnaires were evaluated by a group of 21 chronic pain experts using Delphi methodology in three evaluation rounds. A final questionnaire of 55 items with a 5-point Likert-type scale was formed. This questionnaire was piloted on a total of 30 patients to assess their understanding of the items and the psychometric validation process was carried out (January to March 2020) on a subsequent sample of 395 people, all of whom attend allow a comprehensive healthcare assessment of Chronic Non-Cancer Pain's impact on daily nursing clinical practice and other healthcare professionals.
The PAIN_Integral Scale© , once the validation process is finished, could be a complete enough instrument to allow a comprehensive healthcare assessment of Chronic Non-Cancer Pain's impact on daily nursing clinical practice and other healthcare professionals.
Gastroparesis is a chronic stomach disorder and effective treatment is the aim of different strategies. Alternative therapies consist of an electrical stimulation of the stomach to evoke a response in the gastric activity. We present the development and in vivo application of an electromagnet system to induce a mechanical stimulus in the stomach aiming for gastric contractile responses.

The electromagnet system consisted of an implantable magnet and an external drive coil. We implanted the magnet at the greater curvature of the gastric body in rats. We applied an alternating current to the drive coils, inducing mechanical stimulation of the gastric wall. We measured the gastric contraction activity and gastric electrical activity in response to the stimulus using AC biosusceptometry and electrogastrography. Moreover, we used the phenol red to evaluate the stimulus effects on gastrointestinal transit.

The stimulus increased the spectral intensity and signal-to-noise ratio significantly of gastric contraction activity and gastric electrical activity. Furthermore, we found a lower phenol red retention in the stomach in rats without stimulus. No significant differences were found in frequency and root mean square amplitude.

We developed a new simple electromagnet system that evoked a contraction and gastric electrical response using a mechanical stimulus and decreased gastric emptying time. The system is an accessible tool and may contribute to gastroparesis studies in animals.

To explore how behavioural symptoms of dementia are manifested among veterans in residential long-term care settings, in the context of personal, interpersonal/social and environmental triggers and how the manifestations differ between veterans with and without posttraumatic stress disorder.

Secondary analysis using a mixed methods approach.

We analysed text data from a stratified random sample of 66 cases derived from the programme evaluation dataset of the Staff Training in Assisted Living Residences-Veterans Health Administration (STAR-VA) intervention from 2013 to 2016, using framework analysis. The detailed behavioural assessment descriptions in this dataset are consistent with contemporary non-pharmacologic symptom management. CB-5083 in vivo Qualitative categories were converted to quantitative variables for two group comparisons.

Four patterns emerged linking specific types of triggers and behavioural symptoms (1) unmet physical needs or emotional distress triggers non-aggressive behaviours; (2) unsolicited dimportant new information for developing person-centred, non-pharmacological interventions to improve outcomes for veterans with dementia. Multi-level interventions should be considered to meet veteran's needs that account for their earlier life history and current life circumstances.
Classifying behavioural symptoms with their triggers rather than solely by behaviours provides important new information for developing person-centred, non-pharmacological interventions to improve outcomes for veterans with dementia. Multi-level interventions should be considered to meet veteran's needs that account for their earlier life history and current life circumstances.
To investigate the roles of total stigma, enacted stigma, and internalized stigma in the prediction of psychological distress among breast cancer patients, and to evaluate the mediating effect of body image in this process.

Cross-sectional.

Between Oct-2014 to May-2015, a cross-sectional study was conducted with participation of 223 patients from three cancer centres located in Tehran, Iran. The study variables were assessed using the stigma scale for chronic illnesses 8-item version (SSCI-8), body image scale (BIS), and depression anxiety stress scale (DASS-21). Structural equation modelling using MLR estimator was employed based on the two-step procedure to validate both the full measurement models and the structural models. Five models were tested to determine predictability of all stigma constructs for psychological distress, including stress, anxiety, and depression, through the mediation of body image. Three equivalent models were further examined to re-evaluate the direction of the relationships.ma, internalized stigma, and body image plays an important role in perpetuating distress in these patients. To break this chain of psychological consequences and for interventions to have a greater impact on overall well-being of patients, the effect of enacted stigma on distress via the sequence of two mediators needs to be specifically targeted at each stage.
Both enacted and internalized stigma distorts breast cancer patients' perception of their body image, which in turn renders them psychologically distressed. The serial process of enacted stigma, internalized stigma, and body image plays an important role in perpetuating distress in these patients. To break this chain of psychological consequences and for interventions to have a greater impact on overall well-being of patients, the effect of enacted stigma on distress via the sequence of two mediators needs to be specifically targeted at each stage.
This study aimed to investigate the variability by ethnicity, socio-economic status and location in coverage and testability of the universal B4 School Check vision screening in children aged 4-5 years in New Zealand.

Aggregated data from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2015 were sourced from the Statistics New Zealand Integrated Data Infrastructure. Sourced data were attendance at vision screening and record of visual acuity measurement stratified by ethnicity, socio-economic status and region. Children who attended screening were compared with the eligible population (n=252 279) to calculate coverage. Testability was determined by comparing the children with a recorded visual acuity measurement in each eye with those who attended screening.

Overall vision screening coverage was 89.5% and testability was 97.8%. Ethnic differences were evident for coverage (85.7% in Pacific children, 92.5% in European children) and testability (96.4% in Māori children, 98.4% in European children). Socio-economic differences weren lower socio-economic areas. Understanding region-specific challenges and successes could support more equitable access to vision screening between regions. Further research is required to determine sources of inequities and to investigate interactions between ethnicity, socio-economic status and location. The sound environment of a zoo animal is a complex milieu of animal and human-generated sounds; coming from the species itself, other species, visitors, keepers and other zoo-users. Research determining how different components of the sound environment affect animal behaviour is surprisingly lacking but could have real-world impacts for animal welfare and zoo enclosure design. The current study investigated the effects of the sound environment on two flocks of flamingos housed in open-air enclosures at British zoos. Measures of how each flock used its enclosure (as a response variable) and environmental variables (Inband Power and Peak Frequency were recorded as characteristics of the sound environment, as well as temperature, humidity and cloud cover, and finally visitor presence-all as potential predictor variables) were made over a 2-month period. Assessment of space use by zoo animals is often used as a measure of the appropriateness of an exhibit and to understand welfare. Given that flamingo activity ist to their soundscape; however, our findings suggest more work is needed to unpick the components of captive sound environments, and their relative effects on how animals use their space.
