managing patients with IBD.The COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019) outbreak, which seriously affected people's lives across the world, has not been effectively controlled. Previous studies have demonstrated that SARS-COV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) infecting host cells mainly rely on binding to receptor proteins, namely ACE2 and TMPRSS2. COVID-19 transmission is faster than the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) pneumonia outbreak in 2002. This is mainly attributed to the different pathways of virus-infected host cells, coupled with patients' atypical clinical characteristics. SARS-CoV-2 is mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets and contact, infecting lung tissues before damaging other body organs, such as the liver, brain, kidney and heart. The present study identified potential target genes for SARS-COV-2 receptors, ACE2 and TMPRSS2, in normal human lung tissue. The findings provide novel insights that will guide future drug development approaches for treatment of COVID-19.
PCOS women experience different discomfort as a consequence of the illness. During the years, several risk factors and treatments emerged. This review aims at underlining evidence on psychological symptoms in PCOS women and on the effectiveness of therapies.
We reviewed literature searching through different databases. We used different keywords, including PCOS, PCOS and depression, PCOS and anxiety, PCOS and psychological, PCOS depression and risk factors, PCOS depression therapies, depression and inositol.
Based on the collected evidence, PCOS women are more likely to develop psychological symptoms, like depression or anxiety disorders. Furthermore, several risk factors are associated with higher depression or worse psychological conditions. Particularly, the literature highlights BMI, hirsutism, insulin resistance, excess of androgens and lack of serum Vitamin D. Even though several pharmaceuticals find application in psychological symptoms, some of them can impair hormonal condition in PCOS women. Few molecules are able to improve psychological symptoms without impairing hormonal profiles. Among these, myo-inositol appears to be the most interesting, as it is also considered first-line therapy in PCOS women.
Psychological symptoms affect PCOS women more than healthy subjects. Among the different treatments, inositol emerges as a safe approach, being the first-line therapy in PCOS for hormonal improvement and having putative effects also in psychiatrists.

This study aims to investigate the effect of oral care via the combined use of colostrum and sodium bicarbonate on the prevention of neonatal ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).
In accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 120 infant patients who were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) from January to October of 2019 were selected and randomly divided into three groups (40 cases in each group), namely, colostrum combined with sodium bicarbonate nursing (experimental group), colostrum (control group I), and sodium bicarbonate (control group II) groups. The primary outcomes measured included incidence rates of VAP and oral infection, positive rate of pathogenic bacteria after sputum culture, mechanical ventilation time, and length of stay (LOS).
The incidence rates of VAP and oral infection and the positive rate of pathogenic bacteria after sputum culture of the experimental group, which were 6.67%, 10.00%, and 10.00%, respectively, were significantly different from those of control groups I and II (p < 0.05). The mechanical ventilation time of the experimental group was 156.07 ± 26.67 h, which was shortened by 9.79% and 9.43% compared with those of control groups I and II, respectively. The LOS of the experimental group was 17.6 ± 1.96 days, which was shortened by 17.74% and 17.50% compared with those of control groups I and II, respectively. The differences were statistically significant (p< 0.05).
Oral care through the combined use of colostrum and sodium bicarbonate can lower the VAP incidence rate of infant patients and shorten their mechanical ventilation time and LOS.

The present observational study has the aim to describe the nutritional habits and adherence to Mediterranean diet within a dietary intervention performed by North Naples 2 Local Health Unit in some areas of Campania region.
A semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire which takes in consideration several kinds of food and the related daily or weekly portions has been administered to people evaluated in the study. An increased score reflects an increased adherence to Mediterranean diet. Patients have been grouped by age, body mass index, education, socio-economic level, income, and score reported to the administered survey. find more Nutritional intervention has also been evaluated as concerns weight reduction during time.
Surveys were administered to 200 patients aged from 12 to 79 years from 21 November 2018 to 27 November 2019. Obese patients were 61.5% in this population. 67.7% of obese people participating to this study had primary/lower secondary school education. 61.5% of study population have been caton. The nutritional intervention was found to be effective, especially for overweight patients. These data underline the need for further larger epidemiological analysis and public health interventions.
To evaluate the curative effect of hemoperfusion therapy on central nervous system injury in patients with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid poisoning.
A total of 60 patients with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid poisoning were enrolled in this study. They were admitted to the Emergency Department of Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital from 2015 to 2018 and were randomly divided into two groups by random number table method. One group was control group (routine treatment group), and the other group was the treatment group (hemoperfusion therapy was added on the basis of routine treatment). Glasgow coma score (GCS), APACHE II score, and MMSE score were used to evaluate the effects before treatment and 7 days after treatment. The results were statistically analyzed.
After treatment, GCS in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group, while APACHE II score was lower than that in the control group, and MMSE score was significantly higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference (p<0.05). The effective rate in the control group was only 26.67%, and that in the treatment group was 86.67%, with statistically significant difference (c2=19.62, p<0.001).
Hemoperfusion therapy can promote the recovery of central nervous system in patients with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid poisoning, reduce the injury of other organs, and significantly reduce the mortality of patients.

Inositol is a carbocyclic sugar polyalcohol. By epimerization of its hydroxyl groups, nine possible stereoisomers can be generated, two of major physiological and clinical relevance myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol. Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are normally stored in kidney, brain and liver and are necessary for functions, such as signal transduction, metabolic flux, insulin signaling, regulation of ion-channel permeability, stress response and embryo development. In this narrative review, we summarize the mechanisms by which myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol can be synthesized and absorbed and their possible role in the etiopathogenesis of neural tube defects.
We performed an online search in the PubMed database using the following keywords "inositol", "D-chiro-inositol", "myo-inositol", "neural tube defects and inositol".
Inositol requirements are partly met by dietary intake, while the rest is synthesized endogenously. Inositol deficiency may be involved in the pathogenesis of diseases, such asinositol metabolism may provide important information for the clinical management of these conditions.
Andrographolide and its derivatives have many functions, such as anti-infection, anti-tumor, neuroprotection, and immune regulation. However, the gastrointestinal protective effects, especially gastrointestinal tumors, and inflammation-related diseases of andrographolide and its derivatives have not been well summarized and discussed. In this review, we aimed to summarize and discuss the pharmacological effects and underlying mechanisms of andrographolide and its derivatives in gastrointestinal protection, with a view to revealing more possibilities of andrographolide and its derivatives in gastrointestinal diseases prevention therapy.
The data in this review are searched and selected from PubMed with the keywords Andrographolide and Andrographolide derivatives, and relevant data with gastrointestinal protection are extracted and discussed.
Andrographolide and its derivatives have prophylactic and therapeutic effects in gastrointestinal disorders such as GU, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Methotrexate (MTX) is widely used in the treatment of rheumatic and non-rheumatic disorders. Severe adverse effects are often associated with therapeutic errors, such as daily intake rather than weekly intake. Among them, the risk of bowel perforation is extremely rare (0.1%). We describe a case of bowel perforation, occurred following daily intake of MTX.
A 68-year-old man was prescribed to take MTX 7,5 mg orally once a week, while waiting for switch to abatacept for a recent reactivation of rheumatoid arthritis. After 10 days he started having pharyngodynia, hematochezia and general malaise. At medical examination he presented oral and nasal mucositis; moreover, blood exams showed thrombocytopenia. The anamnesis revealed that he had been taken the prescribed dosage of MTX daily, instead of weekly. Therapy with Lederfolin 1000 mg (mg/m²/die) and urine alkalinization started. After 7 days of hospitalization, there was an abrupt worsening of clinical conditions and an emergency CT scan revealed millimetric gas bubbles indicating bowel perforation. The patient underwent an emergency exploratory laparotomy that resulted in peritoneal toilette and sigma resections. Anatomopathological findings were suggestive of MTX poisoning.
The patient was discharged on the 17th day in good clinical condition.
