CONCLUSIONS Clinically, patients with CM who have cerebral hernia, consciousness disorder, hydrocephalus, visual impairment and intracranial pressure > 300mmH2O often indicate poor prognosis. The prognosis was significantly improved after adjusting the treatment strategies after 2010. Early internal drainage is the key factor, and positive of cryptococcus in CSF before surgery is not a contraindication. BACKGROUND Variations in TOR1A were thought to be associated with early-onset isolated dystonia. The variant S287Y (NM_000113.2 c.860C > A, p. Ser287Tyr, rs766483672) was found in our late-onset isolated dystonia patient. This missense variant is adjacent to R288Q (c.863G > A, p. Arg288Gln), which was reported to be associated with isolated dystonia. The potentially pathogenic role of S287Y is not conclusively known. METHODS Cytological and molecular biological analyses were performed in vitro to determine whether this variant damages the structure and function of the cell. RESULTS Compared with the SH-SY5Y cells overexpressing wild-type TOR1A, the cells overexpressing the protein with S287Y have an enlarged peri-nuclear space. The same changes in nuclear morphology were also found in the cells overexpressing the pathogenic variants ΔE (NM_000113.2c.904_906delGAG, p. Glu302del), F205I (NM_000113.2c.613 T > A, p. Phe205Ile), and R288Q (NM_000113.2c.863G > A, p. Arg288Gln). Mutated proteins with S287Y presented a higher tendency to form dimers under reducing conditions. The same tendencies were observed in other mutated proteins but not in wild-type torsinA. CONCLUSIONS TorsinA with S287Y damages the structure of the cell nucleus and may be a novel pathogenic mutation that causes isolated dystonia. As the population ages, the incidence and prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders will continue to increase. Persons with neurodegenerative disease frequently experience sleep disorders, which not only affect quality of life, but potentially accelerate progression of the disease. Unfortunately, pharmacological interventions are often futile or have adverse effects. Therefore, investigation of non-pharmacological interventions has the potential to expand the treatment landscape for these disorders. The last decade has observed increasing recognition of the beneficial role of exercise in brain diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders in particular. In this review, we will focus on the therapeutic role of exercise for sleep dysfunction in four neurodegenerative diseases, namely Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Available data suggest that exercise may have the potential to improve sleep disorders and attenuate neurodegeneration, particularly in Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. However, additional research is required in order to understand the most effective exercise therapy for these indications; the best way to monitor the response to interventions; the influence of exercise on sleep dysfunction in Huntington's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; and the mechanisms underlying exercise-induced sleep modifications. INTRODUCTION The relevance of care is defined by the right act, for the right patient, at the right time. We were interested in the relevance of the management of presumed benign ovarian tumors before and after the release of the CNGOF guidelines 2013 (French guidelines). METHODS This is a retrospective observational study conducted at the University Hospital in Strasburg France from 01/01/2013 to 31/12/2017 including all patients treated for a presumed benign ovarian cyst. We were interested in the diagnostic approach relevance of the prescribed imaging and the use of CA 125 dosage, in the therapeutic approach the relevance of the technique used as well as the relevance of the surgical indication. We compared our practices between 2013 and 2017 for these same items. RESULTS We included 682 cysts for 621 patients, the imaging performed was relevant in 55% of cases, not relevant but justified in 25% and irrelevant in 20%. The CA 125 assay or its absence of assay was relevant in 84% of cases. The surgical technique was relevant in 67% of cases and not relevant but justified in 29%. With a significant improvement 7.1% in 2013 of irrelevant against 0.9% for the year 2017. The surgical indication was relevant in 72% of cases, not relevant but justified in 20% and irrelevant in 2.7%. CONCLUSIONS The analysis of the relevance of care allows an evaluation of our practices. Professional recommendations can have an impact on the quality of care. BACKGROUND COVID-19 is a new infectious disease, for which there is currently no treatment. It is therefore necessary to explore biomarkers to determine the extent of lung lesions and disease severity. OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess the usefulness of CRP levels in the early stage of COVID-19 and to correlate them with lung lesions and severe presentation. METHODS Confirmed cases of COVID-19 were selected at the Fever Unit in two regions of Guizhou, China. On admission CRP levels were collected, and the diameter of the largest lung lesion was measured in the most severe lung lesion by lung CT scan. Differences in the diameter and CRP levels were compared in the following groups of patients mild group, moderate group, severe group, and critical group. find more RESULT CRP levels and the diameter of the largest lung lesion in the moderate group were higher than those in the mild group (Mann-Whitney test=-2.647, -2.171, P˂0.05), those in the severe group were higher than those in the moderate group (Mann-Whitney test=0.693, -2.177, P˂0.05), and those in the critical group were higher than those in the severe group (Mann-Whitney test=-0.068, -1.549, P˂0.05). The difference was statistically significant. CRP levels were positively correlated with the diameter of lung lesion and severe presentation (correlation coefficient=0.873, 0.734, P˂0.001). CONCLUSION In the early stage of COVID-19 CRP levels were positively correlated with lung lesions and could reflect disease severity. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome sequences of Centrorhynchus clitorideus was sequenced and annotated for the first time based on specimens collected from the little owl Athene noctua (Scopoli) (Strigiformes Strigidae) in Pakistan. The complete mt genome sequences of C. clitorideus is 15,884 bp in length, and contained 36 genes [two rRNA genes (rrnL and rrnS), 22 tRNA genes and 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs) (lacking atp8)] and two non-coding regions (NCR1 and NCR2), which represents the largest mt genome of acanthocephalan reported so far. In order to assess the systematic position of C. clitorideus and the interrelationship of the family Centrorhynchidae and the other families in order Polymorphida, the phylogenetic tree was constructed using Bayesian inference (BI) based on amino acid sequences of 12 PCGs. Phylogenetic results supported C. clitorideus formed a sister relationship to C. milvus in Centrorhynchidae, which has a sister relationship to the representatives of Polymorphidae + Plagiorhynchidae. Our results revealed the monophyly of Polymorphida and paraphyly of Echinorhynchida in the class Palaeacanthocephala. The validity of the genus Sphaerirostris (Polymorphida Centrorhynchidae) was also challenged by our phylogenetic results, which seems to be a synonym of Centrorhynchus. Moreover, the present phylogenetic analysis indicated that the family Quadrigyridae and subfamily Pallisentinae (A. cheni and P. celatus) are polyphyletic. V.BACKGROUND Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most serious neurological disorders and is characterized by high morbidity and disability. Unfortunately, there is a lack of effective treatment. Recently, the micro RNA, miR-384-5p, was reported to play a significant role in cell survival in response to different insults. METHODS In vitro model of traumatic neuronal injury was induced by application of a sharp sterile blade to generate cuts in PC12 cells, and in vivo SCI was produced by applying vascular clips (force of 15 g) to the dura via T9-T10 laminectomy, and then, the role of miR-384-5p in the development of SCI was investigated. RESULTS Dual-luciferase reporter assays confirmed that miR-384-5p regulates the gene expression of Beclin-1, an important promoter of autophagy. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses revealed that treatment with miR-384-5p decreased mRNA and protein expression of Beclin-1 in the mechanically injured PC12 cells. In rats with spinal cord compression injuries, miR-384-5p expression was significantly decreased. Treatment with miR-384-5p increased spinal cord neuron survival and promoted locomotor function recovery in rats. Further study revealed that miR-384-5p administration decreased immunofluorescent labeling of Beclin-1 in spinal cord tissues and reduced autophagosome formation in neurons, as shown by transmission electron microscopy. These results indicated that miR-384-5p promotes recovery of rats with SCI by suppressing autophagy via direct targeting of Beclin-1. Moreover, miR-384-5p also inhibited the activation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress by decreasing GRP78 expression in both in vitro and in vivo models. CONCLUSIONS This study for the first time demonstrates that the protective role of miR-384-5p in the process of SCI is associated with simultaneous suppression of autophagy and ER stress and miR-384-5p could be a promising candidate for SCI therapeutics. Successful results with respect to breast cancer and Parkinson's disease compared to previous techniques and popular known databases are shown. In addition, the newly developed methodology is also successfully applied to Alzheimer's disease, further demonstrating its flexibility. Across all three case studies the strongest results were produced by the shortest path-based measures stress and betweenness, either in a single objective parameter setting or when used in conjunction in a multi-objective environment. The new crossover technique achieved the best results when applied to Alzheimer's disease. Interleaved rather than repetitive practice (RP) is associated with superior retention of motor skills. It has been argued that this results from improved post-practice consolidation reflected in greater offline gains following interleaved practice (IP). The magnitude of this offline benefit has been associated with greater recruitment of supplementary motor area (SMA) during encoding. The present study administered anodal or cathodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) during interleaved or RP respectively in an attempt to modify the activity at SMA and the concomitant retention outcomes commonly associated with these training formats. Sixty-nine participants were assigned to one of four experimental conditions that included IP-sham, RP-sham, IP-cathodal tDCS, and RP-anodal tDCS. Real or sham stimulation at SMA was administered during practice of three unique 6-key discrete sequence production tasks which lasted approximately 20-min. Tests were administered prior to practice and immediately after practice as well at 6-h, 24-h, and 72-h after practice ended.
