or and cognitive recovery following severe TBI.
Our data suggest that emotional-integrated sensory stimulation using adequate visual stimuli represents a beneficial, complementary rehabilitative treatment for patients in minimally conscious state following a severe TBI. This may occur because stimuli with emotional salience can provide a reliable motivational resource to stimulate motor and cognitive recovery following severe TBI.
Although nonpharmacological therapies are recommended as first-line treatments for insomnia, they do not widely implement in practice owing to costly or time-consuming. As a result, pharmacotherapy remains to be commonly prescribed for patients with the sleep disorder. Pharmacotherapy for insomnia consists of different types of drugs. selleck chemical Few studies focused on comprehensively evaluating all available drugs for insomnia. Our review aims to compare efficacy and safety of pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments by synthesizing direct evidence and indirect evidence to help clinicians and patients make informed decisions for insomnia.
We will search the MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials between January 2000 and June 12, 2021. Randomized controlled trials of pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions for insomnia will be included. Study quality will be assessed on the basis of the methodology and categories described in the Cochrane Collaboration Handbook. Eight network meta-analyses were conducted. A Bayesian network meta-analysis would be performed, and relative ranking of agents would be assessed. A node splitting method will be used to examine the inconsistency between direct and indirect comparisons when a loop connecting 3 arms exists.
The results of this paper will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.
The conclusion of our study will provide updated evidence to rank the effectiveness and safety of pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions for insomnia.
Ethical approval is not applicable, as this study is a network meta-analysis based on published trials.

Cyclin F (CCNF) dysfunction has been implicated in various forms of cancer, offering a new avenue for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to evaluate the role of CCNF in HCC using publicly available data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).
We used TCGA data and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) data to analyze the differential expression of CCNF between tumor and adjacent tissues and the relationship between CCNF and clinical characteristics. We compared prognosis of patients with HCC with high and low CCNF expression and constructed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. In addition, we also explored the types of gene mutations in relevant groups and conducted Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA).
The expression of CCNF in liver cancer tissues was significantly increased compared with that in adjacent tissues, and patients with high CCNF expression had a worse prognosis than those with low CCNF expression. Patients with high CCNF expression also had more somatic mutations. High expression of CCNF hampers the prognosis independently. The GSEA showed that the "http//www.gsea-msigdb.org/gsea/msigdb/cards/BIOCARTA_WNT_PATHWAY" Wnt pathway, "http//www.gsea-msigdb.org/gsea/msigdb/cards/BIOCARTA_P53_PATHWAY" P53 pathway, "http//www.gsea-msigdb.org/gsea/msigdb/cards/HALLMARK_PI3K_AKT_MTOR_SIGNALING" PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, "http//www.gsea-msigdb.org/gsea/msigdb/cards/HALLMARK_NOTCH_SIGNALING" Notch pathway were enriched in patients with the high CCNF expression phenotype.
High CCNF expression can be seen as an independent risk factor for poor survival in HCC. Its expression may serve as a target for the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer.

Several previous randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluated the efficacy of metformin combined with simvastatin in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), yet the results of the researches are not consistent. It is necessary to conduct a meta-analysis to explore the efficacy and safety of metformin combined with simvastatin in the treatment of PCOS, to provide evidence supports for the treatment of PCOS.
We searched PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and Chinese biomedical literature databases online to identify the RCTs evaluating the efficacy of metformin combined with simvastatin in the treatment of PCOS. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated to evaluate the synthesized effects.
Nine RCTs with a total of 746 PCOS patients were included. The synthesized results indicated that the combined use of metformin and simvastatin are more beneficial to reduce the total cholesterol (SMD -2.66, 95% CIquality and large samples.
Metformin combined with simvastatin is superior to metformin alone in the treatment of PCOS patients with more advantages in improving the levels of sex hormones, blood lipids, and blood sugar. However, the safety of this therapy still needs to be further explored in clinical studies with high-quality and large samples.
To report the changes of trabecular meshwork (TM) pigmentation and clinical outcomes of patients with pigment dispersion syndrome (PDS) after resolution of reverse pupillary block.Twenty one eyes of 11 PDS patients were followed up periodically for 15 years after resolution of reverse pupillary block with either Nd YAG laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) or trabeculectomy. Visual acuity (VA), best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit lamp examination, intraocular pressure (IOP), Humphrey visual field analysis (VFA), gonioscopy and stereoscopic funduscopy were performed on admission and every 6 months postoperatively. TM pigmentation was quantitatively evaluated and graded every 5 years after the treatment, in which the circumference of anterior chamber angle was divided into 4 quadrants superior, inferior, nasal and temporal. Postoperative IOP, VA, BCVA, VFA, TM pigmentation and adjunctive anti-glaucoma medications were main outcome measurements and compared with baseline.Eleven patients (9 males, 2 females) wDS according to the diagnostic criteria, with average age of 38.25 ± 6.93 years (range, 31-55 years) at initial diagnosis. The mean IOP level was 33.1 ± 9.8 mmHg (range, 22-56 mmHg) at diagnosis. Ten PDS eyes received LPI, and the other eleven eyes underwent uneventful trabeculectomy. The median TM pigmentation score of the 21 PDS eyes was 16 (interquartile range [IQR], 15-16) on admission, which changed to 14 (IQR, 13-15), 13 (IQR, 12-14), 12(IQR, 10.5-12) at 5-, 10-, 15-year follow-up visits respectively. The decrease rate of TM pigmentation was 37% in inferior quadrant, while in nasal, temporal, and superior quadrant the reduction rate was 28%, 23%, and 18%, respectively, at the last follow-up visit. Majority of these enrolled eyes (19/21) had stable VA and BCVA with average endpoint IOP of 15.1 ± 3.4 mmHg.TM pigmentation in PDS patients attenuates with time after reverse pupillary block was resolved, in which the inferior quadrant seems faster than the other quadrants.
The influencing factors of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients remain unclear, we aimed to investigate the risk factors of GDM in patients with PCOS, to provide reliable evidence for the prevention and treatment of GDM in PCOS patients.PCOS patients treated in our hospital from January 1, 2019 to October 31, 2020 were included. The personal and clinical treatment details of GDM and no GDM patients were analyzed. Logistic regressions were performed to analyze the factors influencing the occurrence of GDM.A total of 196 PCOS patients were included, the incidence of GDM in patients with PCOS was 23.98%. There were significant differences in the age, body mass index, insulin resistance index, fasting insulin, testosterone, androstenedione, and sex hormone-binding protein between GDM and no GDM patients with PCOS (all P < .05), and no significant differences in the family history of GDM, the history of adverse pregnancy, and multiple pregnancies were found (alltients with PCOS.
Pain sensitization leading to polyalgia can be observed during infectious diseases. The blood pressure cuff-evoked pain threshold (BPCEPT) has been used in previous studies as a screening tool for fibromyalgia. We aimed to use the BPCEPT as a screening test for detecting pain sensitization in patients suffering from infectious diseases. We also investigated whether specific factors were associated with pain sensitization. We performed a prospective comparative study including all patients of our infectious diseases center in a 1-year period. We created a positive control group of patients suffering from fibromyalgia and a negative control group of "apparently healthy" patients consulting for vaccination. The blood pressure (BP) cuff was inflated until the patient signaled that they experienced pain, and this pressure value was noted.A total of 2355 patients were included. The positive control group had significantly lower values of the BPCEPT than all other groups. Among hospitalized patients with infectious dc-oxaloacetic transaminase (P = .007), and high C reactive protein levels (P = .02). Moreover, in multivariate analysis, respiratory infection, meningitis, urinary tract infection, febrile neutropenia, and Q fever were independently associated with a low BPCEPT. A significant negative dynamic correlation between the BPCEPT and temperature was also observed (P less then .001).We demonstrated for the first time in a large sample of patients that the BPCEPT method can be used to detect pain susceptibility. We observed a significant dynamic correlation between pain sensitization and temperature. Additionally, pain sensitization was associated with some diseases, suggesting that they trigger pain sensitivity.
