To determine the prevalence of HPV and investigate factors associated with the infection in women in the city of Francisco Beltrão, southwest Paraná, attending the public health system.
This cross-sectional study included 324 women, aged between 18 and 65years, who were attending public health services for routine gynecological consultation. Interviews were conducted to obtain information about socioeconomic, sexual, gynecological, and life habits. After performing the Papanicolaou test, endocervical brush was employed to detect HPV by polymerase chain reaction with the primers MY09-MY11.
The prevalence of HPV was 6.8%, out of which 58.3% presented with cytopathologic alterations. And the presence of current cervical alterations can increase the chances of having HPV by almost 33 times (OR
32.688; p < 0.001), recent vaginal infection increased the chances of HPV infection by 2.7 times (OR
2.773; p = 0.04). The non-white ethnicity increased HPV infection chances threefold (OR
3.058; p = 0.039).
The main finding was low prevalence of HPV infection. Factors that may be linked to HPV infection were cervical alterations, recent vaginal infection, and women's ethnicity.

Recent studies have shown that patients with skin of color (SOC) carry a larger disease burden than patients of European descent. In the USA, these disparities are partly due to structural, environmental, and interpersonal racism. From a global perspective, there is a paucity of research on the burden of atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin diseases experienced by the record numbers of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers around the world. Although it is still unclear whether the true prevalence of AD in displaced communities is higher compared with the general population, those who are displaced suffer from unique risk factors that render them especially vulnerable. In this review, we outline a number of factors contributing to AD susceptibility and/or aggravation in displaced communities. These include poor living conditions, climate change events, psychological stress, and lack of access to medical care and health-related behaviors.Black spot disease (PBS) caused by Alternaria alternata is an economic disease of pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai). Developing cultivars with durable PBS resistance traits is an important research objective for improving pear germplasm. The Deshengxiang is a popular pear variety in China and resistant to PBS. This study aimed to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with PBS resistance trait in pear and determine closely linked molecular markers by specific locus amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq). F1 population resulting from a cross between "Deshengxiang" (female) and "Guiguan," a susceptible (male) variety, was developed and evaluated in 2016 and 2017. SLAF technology was used to discover SNPs in the F1 individuals and subsequently a high-density genetic linkage map for PBS resistance was constructed which contained 17,604 SNP markers. Based on the linkage map, the markers were distributed into 17 linkage groups, spanning 1548.48 cM, with a mean marker distance of 0.09 cM, representing the densest genetic map of the genus Pyrus. QTL analysis of PBS resistance identified a locus strongly related to PBS resistance at 77.68 ~ 112.99 cM on linkage group 15, which was further narrowed down to 93.79 ~ 112.99 cM. Two markers, Marker94293 and Marker94206, located at 97.47 and 102.93 cM, were closely associated with PBS resistance, with a Δ (SNP index) value of 0.46. Co-localization of QTL interval, bioinformatics analysis, and functional annotation revealed PBS putative candidate genes. Overall, the high-density pear linkage map is a suitable reference for mapping PBS resistance trait, QTL, and genes identified in this study contribute information that could be useful for PBS improvement in pear.
Group format weight loss interventions have benefits over individual format, but privacy concerns may limit their uptake.
In this study, adults with obesity and interest in losing weight were recruited nationally online and randomly assigned to view one of eight videos describing a hypothetical, group behavioral weight loss intervention. Based on three fully crossed factors, the videos varied on privacy features of intervention (present or not); matching participants to group based on weight loss barriers (matched or not); and intervention format (online or in-person). Participants rated their willingness to join, privacy concerns, and perceived effectiveness of these interventions. They further reported preference for individual or group format interventions and reason for preferences.
Description of privacy features, matching of participants, and format did not affect willingness to join, privacy concerns, or perceived effectiveness of the intervention. Privacy concerns were associated with lower willingness to join and lower perceived intervention effectiveness, and greater social anxiety and weight stigma. More participants preferred individual over group format (40.1% vs 33.9%; 26% selected neither) and preference for individual format was associated with greater privacy concerns.

Recently, deep learning networks have been considerably applied in information fusion. A196 But the significant limitation of existing image fusion methods is the inability to highlight typical regions of the source image and retain sufficient useful information. To address the problem, the paper proposes a multi-scale residual attention network (MsRAN) to fully exploit the image feature. Its generator network contains two information refinement networks and one information integration network. The information refinement network extracts feature at different scales using convolution kernels of different sizes. The information integration network, with a merging block and an attention block added, prevents the underutilization of information in the intermediate layers and forces the generator to focus on salient regions in multi-modal source images. Furthermore, in the phase of model training, we add an information loss function and adopt a dual adversarial structure, enabling the model to capture more details. Qualitative and quantitative experiments on publicly available datasets validate that the proposed method provides better visual results than other methods and retains more detail information.Ergothioneine (ET) is a naturally occurring antioxidant and cytoprotective agent that is synthesized by fungi and certain bacteria. Recent studies have shown a beneficial effect of ET on neurological functions, including cognition and animal models of depression. The aim of this study is to elucidate a possible effect of ET in rodent models of stroke. Post-ischemic intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) infusion of ET significantly reduced brain infarct volume by as early as 1 day after infusion in rats, as shown by triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) assay. There was a dose-dependent increase in protection, from 50 to 200 ng of ET infusion. These results suggest that ET could have a protective effect on CNS neurons. We next elucidated the effect of systemic ET on brain infarct volume in mice after stroke. Daily i.p. injection of 35 mg/kg ET (the first dose being administered 3 h after stroke) had no significant effect on infarct volume. However, daily i.p. injections of 70 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, 125 mg/kg and 150 mg/kg ET, with the first dose administered 3 h after stroke, significantly decreased infarct volume at 7 days after vessel occlusion in mice. In order to elucidate at what time interval during the 7 days there could be effective protection, a second set of experiments was carried out in mice, using one of the effective loading protocols, i.e. 125 mg/kg i.p. ET but the brains were analyzed at 1, 4 and 7 days post-stroke by MRI. We found that ET was already protective against neuronal injury and decreased the size of the brain infarct from as early as 1 day post-stroke. Behavioral experiments carried out on a third set of mice (using 125 mg/kg i.p. ET) showed that this was accompanied by significant improvements in certain behaviors (pole test) at 1 day after stroke. Together, results of this study indicate that i.c.v. and systemic ET are effective in reducing brain infarct volume after stroke in rodent models.Vestibular cues are crucial to sense the linear and angular acceleration of our head in three-dimensional space. Previous literature showed that vestibular information precociously combines with other sensory modalities, such as proprioceptive and visual, to facilitate spatial navigation. Recent studies suggest that auditory cues may improve self-motion perception as well. The present study investigated the ability to estimate passive rotational displacements with and without virtual acoustic landmarks to determine how vestibular and auditory information interact in processing self-motion information. We performed two experiments. In both, healthy participants sat on a Rotational-Translational Chair. They experienced yaw rotations along the earth-vertical axis and performed a self-motion discrimination task. Their goal was to estimate both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations' amplitude, with no visual information available, reporting whether they felt to be rotated more or less than 45°. According to the condition, vestibular-only or audio-vestibular information was present. Between the two experiments, we manipulated the procedure of presentation of the auditory cues (passive vs. active production of sounds). We computed the point of subjective equality (PSE) as a measure of accuracy and the just noticeable difference (JND) as the precision of the estimations for each condition and direction of rotations. Results in both experiments show a strong overestimation bias of the rotations, regardless of the condition, the direction, and the sound generation conditions. Similar to previously found heading biases, this bias in rotation estimation may facilitate the perception of substantial deviations from the most relevant directions in daily navigation activities.Beat perception can serve as a window into internal time-keeping mechanisms, auditory-motor interactions, and aspects of cognition. One aspect of beat perception is the covert continuation of an internal pulse. Of the several popular tests of beat perception, none provide a satisfying test of this faculty of covert continuation. The current study proposes a new beat-perception test focused on covert pulse continuation The Beat-Drop Alignment Test (BDAT). In this test, participants must identify the beat in musical excerpts and then judge whether a single probe falls on or off the beat. The probe occurs during a short break in the rhythmic components of the music when no rhythmic events are present, forcing participants to judge beat alignment relative to an internal pulse maintained in the absence of local acoustic timing cues. Here, we present two large (N > 100) tests of the BDAT. In the first, we explore the effect of test item parameters (e.g., probe displacement) on performance. In the second, we correlate scores on an adaptive version of the BDAT with the computerized adaptive Beat Alignment Test (CA-BAT) scores and indices of musical experience.
