Herpes zoster-associated pain [i.e., acute herpes zoster neuralgia (AHN) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)] has the potential to cause significant patients' burden and heath resource expenditure. PHN is refractory to the existing treatments, and the consensus is preventing the transition of AHN to PHN is better than treating PHN. Anticonvulsants (e.g., gabapentin, pregabalin) have been recommended as one of the first-line therapies for PHN. In practice, anticonvulsants have also decreased the severity and duration of AHN and reduced the incidence of PHN. Nevertheless, its clinical application to AHN is hampered by inadequate evidence for its efficacy and safety. We performed this protocol for a systematic review to explore the efficacy and safety of anticonvulsants for AHN. Besides, a benefit-risk assessment of anticonvulsants for AHN would be performed to estimate the extent to which these drugs could relieve symptoms and whether the benefits outweigh harms.

The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Relished data, no ethical approval is needed. The findings will be submitted in peer-reviewed journals for publication.

Based on coronary angiography and interoperative inspection, anomalous origin of coronary artery crossing the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) is common in tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patients. However, other coronary anomalies may be underestimated due to the overlying myocardium, epicardial fat, or adhesions due to previous palliative surgery. Currently, coronary artery visibility dramatically improved by multislice computed tomography (MSCT). We performed this study to assess the coronary arteries anatomy in TOF patients using MSCT.All TOF patients underwent MSCT examination at our centre from 2013 till 2019 were included. Assessment of the coronary arteries' origin and course were performed. Presence of myocardial bridge were assessed, and indexed RV mass was calculated.318 TOF patients were included, median age 2 years (range 1 month-46 years), 175 males (55%). The abnormal coronary artery origin and course were detected in 20 patients (6%); coronary artery crossed RVOT in 13 patients (65%), 5 patiCT is a useful imaging modality for detection of coronary arteries anomalies in TOF patients. Coronary artery crossing RVOT is not the only abnormal course and myocardial bridging is not a rare finding. Further studies are needed to demonstrate the clinical significance of these observations.
To investigate whether the Quxie capsule can decrease relapse, metastasis, and symptoms, as well as alleviate the side effects in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.

A comprehensive literature search of multiple databases was performed. Two reviewers independently selected trials that assessed the relapse-metastasis rate, degree of symptoms, and side effects of Quxie capsule for CRC. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3.

This meta-analysis included 6 studies, with a total of 408 cases. The quality of the included studies was generally low, with only 1 trial of high quality. selleck products A statistically significant difference was observed in the relapse-metastasis rate between the Quxie capsule and control groups after 2-years follow-up (n = 185, relative risk (RR) = 0.13, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.04-0.46; P = .002). The Quxie capsule was found to reduce the traditional Chinese medicine symptom score as compared to the control (n = 208, weighted mean differences (WMD) = -4.15, 95% CI -7.30 to -1.00; P = .010), while it showed no significant improvement in the Karnofsky Performance Status score (n = 138, WMD = 5.05; 95% CI -2.95 to 13.04; P = .22). There was no difference in adverse events between the 2 groups (P = .66).

This systematic review and meta-analysis showed no clear superiority of Quxie capsule for CRC patients receiving chemotherapy. The effect of Quxie capsule in CRC patients should be examined by high quality, large sample size, multi-center RCTs, with longer follow-up.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2 induces severe infection, and it is responsible for a worldwide disease outbreak starting in late 2019. Currently, there are no effective medications against coronavirus. In the present study, we utilized a holistic bioinformatics approach to study gene signatures of SARS-CoV- and SARS-CoV-2-infected Calu-3 lung adenocarcinoma cells. Through the Gene Ontology platform, we determined that several cytokine genes were up-regulated after SARS-CoV-2 infection, including TNF, IL6, CSF2, IFNL1, IL-17C, CXCL10, and CXCL11. Differentially regulated pathways were detected by the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, gene ontology, and Hallmark platform, including chemokines, cytokines, cytokine receptors, cytokine metabolism, inflammation, immune responses, and cellular responses to the virus. A Venn diagram was utilized to illustrate common overlapping genes from SARS-CoV- and SARS-CoV-2-infected datasets. An Ingenuity pathway analysis discovered an enricon.
Laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG) has been highlighted for its safety and better short-term clinical outcomes in treating gastric cancer. However, only a slight reduction of the post-operative hospital stay was observed in gastric cancer patients undergoing LDG with conventional perioperative management, compared to patients undergoing open surgery. Thus, an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program for LDG is needed to further reduce the post-operative hospital stays. This prospective, open-label, single-arm cohort study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of the ERAS program for gastric cancer patients undergoing LDG.

All patients with gastric cancer indicated for LDG were consecutively enrolled from December 2016 to January 2018. The ERAS program included short fasting time, effective perioperative pain management, early, goal-oriented ambulation, and oral feeding. The safety assessment was the incidence of post-operative complications, mortality, and readmission in 30 days. The primary efficacy assessment was recovery time defined by post-operative hospital stays and rehabilitative rate on post-operative day 4.

Ninety-eight of 114 patients were finally enrolled. The incidence of post-operative complication, mortality, and readmission in 30 days was 20. 4%, 0%, 7.1%, respectively. The Clavien-Dindo grade III complication rate was 6.1%, while the pulmonary complication rate was 1% only. The median post-operative stay was 6 days (5.0-7.0 days), and the rehabilitative rate on post-operative day 4 was 78%.

The ERAS program might be optimal perioperative management for gastric cancer patients after LDG without compromising safety.

For patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) following hemorrhagic infarction (HI)/hemorrhage transformation (HT) and complicated with venous thrombosis, the management of anticoagulation is controversial. Our study intends to explore the safety and effectiveness of using low-dose of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) to treat NVAF patients with HI (or HT) and complicated with venous thrombosis.Between January 2018 and January 2019, NVAF related acute ischemic stroke patients with HT/HI, hospitalized in the department of neurology or rehabilitation in our hospital, are enrolled retrospectively. Among them, those who were found to have venous thrombosis and undergo anticoagulation (LMWH) during the treatment were extracted. We investigate the efficacy and safety in those patients who have been treated with anticoagulant of LMWH.Five cases accepted LMWH within 3 weeks attributed to the appearance of venous thrombosis, and all of them did not display new symptomatic bleeding or recurrent stroke. Hcolor ultrasound showed that venous thrombosis disappeared or became stable.Patients with NVAF following HI/HT have a higher risk of thromboembolism. Early acceptance of low-dose LMWH as an anticoagulant is relatively safe and may gain benefit. However, in the process of anticoagulant therapy, we should follow-up head computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging frequently, as well as D-dimer values, limb vascular ultrasound. Besides, the changes of symptoms and signs should be focused to judge the symptomatic bleeding or recurrent stroke. Furthermore, it is better to adjust anticoagulant drug dosage according to specific conditions.
In recent years, the incidence rate of children with severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (SMPP) is increasing, which poses a great threat to children's life and safety. There are some limitations in the existing drugs for the treatment of SMPP, and the supplementary and alternative therapy of SMPP plays an irreplaceable role in the treatment of this disease. This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of various complementary and alternative therapies for SMPP by means of mesh meta-analysis. In order to provide the basis for clinical rational use.

Two researchers will independently and comprehensively searched the Cochrane Central controlled trials registry, Cochrane Library, PubMed, web of science, EMBASE, CNKI, and Wanfang database to collect randomized controlled trials (RCT) studies on complementary and alternative therapies for SMPP. And the relevant references included in the systematic review/meta-analysis are screened. The retrieval time limit is from the establishment of the database to November 2020. We will use Revman 5.3 software for meta-analysis and use grade to grade the quality of evidence in the net meta-analysis (NMA).

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of different complementary and alternative therapies in the treatment of SMPP, with a view to evaluating and ranking different interventions.

The supplement and replacement therapy of SMPP can improve the clinical efficacy, relieve the clinical symptoms, improve the quality of life of children, and reduce adverse reactions, which can provide strong support for the rational use of clinicians.
